Tyrod they are morons. DeVito is the only enjoyable thing we have seen all season. We know what Tyrod is. Oft injured and not on the roster next season.

Agreed.
Tyrod gives them a better chance to win

If he's healthy, he plays. The players in the locker room know he's better, can't lie to the players.

DeVito is a nice story though and Daboll is developing him nicely.

Tommy Devito. He is like our version of Gardner Minshew. I say keep rolling with the hot hand. My basketball coach always preached, if a guy is hot you let him burn til he’s not. Devito is hot right now so I say ride it out.
I think he dramatically…

He’s 34 years old and his last good season was 2017. Whatever he once had is long gone. Play the kid and see what he can / can’t do.

BBS. No, but I assume Tyrod Taylor is well liked in that locker room and he's a solid veteran. I think Taylor will get the start but likely a quick hook if things go poorly.

Devito is not hot. 10 points gifted to him by his D giving short fields does not make him hot. We can't sustain drives with him because he can't process fast enough so he takes sacks when he should not. This can't be quickly fixed. Devito is a project and it will take years to find out if he can even be an NFL backup. Tyrod has his limitations but if we care to win the game Sunday then he is our best chance.

I actually like Tommy D and I hope he works out. But I think a lot of the push to start him this week is based on our getting used to bad QB play to the point where we get excited by a few good throws, which to his credit he did make. Hopefully we'll all get to expect better soon.

I agree. I don't want it to seem that I'm anti DeVito, but I don't think he's as good as Tyrod Taylor in this point of his career.
They had better play DeVito
SomeFan : 12/4/2023 8:39 pm : link
He will get better with experience. Plus, maybe it will take us less than 5 years to figure out if he is a capable back-up or not.
Schoen and Daboll have made some pretty awful decisions
Dave in Hoboken : 12/4/2023 9:33 pm : link
this year. So, I kinda expect that to continue and they start Taylor this week. Hope I'm wrong.
I think DeVito has earned the right to start against
Chris684 : 12/4/2023 10:26 pm : link
the Packers.

I think that Taylor’s presence means DeVito won’t continue to get the nod through a prolonged slump should he go through one between now and the end of the season, but he’s definitely earned the playing time.

If I was Daboll I wouldn’t waste time in declaring TT as the backup this week and you ride the DeVito magic caret ride as long as you can. If I had to guess, I’d say they lose to the Pack on MNF and Taylor does wind up as starter not long after that.

Gun to my head I’m thinking we might be done winning this year.
I assume that Dabol will start…

Ride the hot hand. I think Devito has given the entire team a lift, they like his story and playing for him.

Football is an emotional sport, sometimes a team catches a spark and it carries them a long ways.

You can always bring TT off the bench if things go south.

Don't agree. Taylor sucks. Wanting to win with a guy who's proven he can't? Why not give the rookie a chance ?

I from what I am seeing it is not processing from a lack of QB IQ, but just lack of reps and experience. It's him listening in the QB room about being more aggressive with the ball (What they are saying to Jones and Devito seeing TT move the ball better than Jones). He just needs to stop trying to make "thee" play every time, sometimes the play is only a couple of yards or a throw away. He needs to play a more tactical game.

Thank goodness the fans aren't coaching.

The minute they're mathematically eliminated they can start DeVito. Till then they should scratch, claw, kick and scream to postpone it in the faint hope of preventing it. And if TT can't run a functional offense with an intact OL than Dabs and Schoen have some splainin to do.

Tyrod Taylor has a huge advantage over Tommy DeVito in two key areas: overall accuracy (CPOE) and avoiding sacks (almost a 15% difference)

Taylor is more accurate, avoids negative plays while having the same explosive play rate

Maybe DeVito has enough upside to develop into a Gardner Minshew-like backup. He has a long way to go. If Taylor is healthy enough to play, I think he's likely to start. DeVito might see the field depending on how the game goes and how Taylor plays.

way, if Taylor starts it is difficult to see he lasts very long the saddle based on the manner in which he plays.

I give him credit for his effort but TT kind of plays a bit out of control and takes blows in a lot of awkward ways.

Kind of silly to be trotting out these kinds of statistical comparisons with the microscopic sample size TD has, including one game where he wasn’t allowed to throw a forward pass.
