For about 3 hours after the Toney penalty, anyone you could find was finally complimenting officiating for getting a game determining call right.
No one had any idea what Andy Reid or Pat Mahomes were even complaining about.
Finally the league was on the good side of an officiating controversy....
Then what do they do? They wheel Terry McAuley out at halftime of SNF, and he's talking about how offensive offsides penalties for years have not occurred without warning, but now this year they call it more, and now it doesn't have to get a warning earlier in the game, but it still often does get a warning....all this wishy washy nonsense that gives a clue as to why officiating is so bad.
After listening to him, I at least get why Reid and Mahomes were so livid, and ultimately I feel bad for the officials because it seems unclear what's even expected of them anymore....
Exactly. It’s been a point of emphasis this year and called 11 times so far. Reid and Mahomes need to pay better attention before whining.
Perhaps they should also consider every clear passing play where Lane Johnson starts early. It's really bad.
The WR on the outside could check with the ref to see if he was lined up right, but the ref never provided unsolicited warnings.
Toney was clearly off sides, and never checked with the ref to see if he was lined up properly.
This is silly.

It got called tonight on both Eagle tackle on consecutive plays

The NFL has an officiating problem. And it's growing. IMV.
But this situation is not on the officials. You are correct.
What this actually reflects is another example this year where the Chiefs WRs let the team down. The problems just keep compounding by that group.
Bonehead.
Dallas OL looks like the hold on every play......almost daring the refs to call it.....leading the Eagles DL to spin....to show it....funny, if it wasn't so sad.
I am convince teams coach it......knowing the pressure the refs are under...to keep game moving.
LOL

I watch it very closely and Johnson is not moving early. He is just faster than everyone else. Like any other player he does get that timing off sometimes and gets called. But I have watched him very closely and he gets it right almost virtuality time. The Chief's LT does it too. SF's RT is another.
I have a harder time seeing flags thrown on Dallas twice for TDs and then called no foul. Once was clearly a WR pick. There is holding on every play but Dallas is really blatant about it
Toney can’t make it work with Reid and Mahomes - no matter how much talent he may have he is just not a good football player
The Chiefs WR are essentially what the Giants had last year. You do need guys who can get open and actually catch the ball
LOL
Don't be so obtuse. He helped the Chiefs dynasty by beating the Eagles in the SB but an offsides penalty is destroying it? You're an idiot

This is the second game Toney has cost them. Week 1 with all his drops and last night. You let Tyreke go for a bunch of JAGS.

The Bills player is not in the neutral zone. That blue line is not the neutral zone. It’s a line for television. The neutral zone would be over the ball. You can see where the center is over Toney’s head and he is back further than where the Bills players head is
I think because the center moves the ball a bit, they tell the players if they are in neutral zone. If you look the center always moves the ball so there is some unwritten rule about it and if that is the case, I get the anger.
Best part of the photo is that Toney is looking at the ball.
The problem with penalties in the nfl is they don't call them consistently. If they called penalties consistently the game would be unwatchable because there would be a stream of constant penalties.
So the refs have to figure out when a penalty should be called not if a penalty has occurred. That is the root of the problem.
Which is also why the good teams get more favorable calls when going up against lousy teams. Or great players against not so great players.

Refs have always told the wideouts when they're lined up wrong. They won't on their own though - that's why you always see wideouts checking with refs presnap. It Deserved to be called a penalty

C'mon now....he's not doing it every single play but he pulls out early a lot and it's never called. It's called - like last night - when he pulls out and the rest of the line doesn't move LOL
It's like MJ traveling in the NBA - they simply let it go. And other players do it too, but LJ is a huge violator of it.
It's a fraction of a second, but it's early. And sometimes it's blatant.
