Head Coach Brian Daboll

December 15, 2023

Q: Where do we stand on the injured guys this week?

A: Go out there today and see where everybody’s at and talk about it after practice, tomorrow morning, make some decisions.

Q: How is (tackle) Evan (Neal)?

A: We’ll see how practice goes. Probably doubtful.

Q: How did (tight end) Darren Waller look to you yesterday?

A: Did some good things, do some more today and see where he’s at.

Q: With Evan, once he’s healthy is he back starting right tackle? No question.

A: I’d just say he’s working to get better. We’ll see. Cross that bridge when we get to it.

Q: How do you feel like (guard) Tyre Phillps has played?

A: He’s done a nice job.

Q: How much benefit do you see to sticking with an offensive line. It has shown improvement and this way, obviously, continuity with an offensive line is something you guys talk about a lot.

A: I’d just say go out there and have a good day today and see where it goes.

Q: With Waller, are you leaning one way or the other in the optimism department about him for Sunday?

A: Know more after today’s practice.

Q: With (safety/inside linebacker) Isaiah (Simmons) going back on the injury report, did he aggravate that? Or is that something that has to be managed?

A: More managed than anything. I think he’ll be okay.

Q: How do you feel like he’s played this year? It looks like he’s really carved out a very specific role.

A: Yeah, he has a role on our defense. I think (Defensive Coordinator) Wink’s (Martindale) done a good job with him of putting him where we need to put him. He’s made some good plays for us; happy we have him.

Q: Preparing for the atmosphere in the dome in New Orleans

A: Great atmosphere there. It’s loud, they have a great fan base so you’ve got to try to prepare the best you can, make it as loud as you can, the communication is of the utmost importance. It’s a challenging environment to play in.

Q: You don’t really talk about stats much but after both of the last two games, you have referenced (quarterback) Tommy’s (DeVito) passer rating. Is that for some reason a stat you believe in??

A: No, I just think he’s done a good job of doing the things we need him to do. Making good decisions… so he’s had a good week. Going to have a challenging environment, challenging team this week.

Q: Are there any stats you do look at that tell you something?

A: Wins.

Q: (Running back) Saquon (Barkley), after the game last week, was beating himself up big time after the fumble. How have you seen him respond?

A: He’s over it. He’s a good teammate. Obviously, he was down because of that play, but he made some good plays, too. You know, he’s a competitor and he’s a good leader for us. Once that game is over and that night is over, you get on to the next week and move on.

Q: How has (tackle) Andrew (Thomas) come back his seven-game absence? Has he looked to you like the same All-Pro player as last year?

A: I’d say he’s a tough guy, pushes through it. Glad we have him out there. I can say that.
