The weather for this one isn't quite as bad as originally thought. Pulling for BAL for this one. I think I want a 9'ers BAL SB, but I'd be cool with Detroit too. Just no more Chiefs.
It's gonna be cloudy & rainy at times today in Baltimore.
They're on a roll and are underdogs as the defending SB Champs coming off of a big time road win in the elements in Buffalo. Mahomes is still the best QB in the sport. KC's defense is for real and they play well and have lots of experience in close and big games.
I've STILL got a big grudge against the Ravens from SB 35. Too bad the Giants didn't play them in SB 46. I'm sure they would've gotten some measure of revenge that day by beating them.
The Ravens have truly been dominant this year and I do think at the end of the day their defense makes me give them the edge. I think the most likely headline at the end of the day is that the Chiefs offense just gets punked by the Ravens defense similar to how the Broncos punked Brady and the Pats when they won it all. My “brain” says something like 27-17 Ravens but with the game being not as close as the final score.
But my gut says Patrick Mahomes is proving himself to be one of these once in a decade or two anomalous athletes that forces you to rethink the odds of certain things happening by his mere presence. The way he dissected the Bills was effortless. His career resume at this point through his career is ahead of even Brady’s pace.
I would not be shocked at all if Mahomes/Kelce/Chris Jones and co. pull this out due to more experience.
I get people being sick of KC. But I will NEVER root for the Ravens. XXXV…that murderer with the first name Ray…Billick…
I detest that franchise.
Eh. Historically I agree with you but I’m really pulling for Lamar. And I like Harbaugh. And I can’t stand another second of this Chiefs/Taylor Swift saga.
Oh, and Mahomes and Reid whining incessantly when they actually had a call go against them is just the icing on the cake. A call that was the CORRECT call, no less. Be gone.
I would rather KC win than to see Ray Lewis on camera
I respect the heck out of both franchises. This will be a treat of a football game to watch.
I think Baltimore is the best team in the NFL, but the Chiefs have so much experience in this situation. Reid has coached in more championship games than I can count.
can u really bet on this? What stops someone on the cbs production staff betting the farm and getting those shots in somehow? Someone makes the decision when to show her…. So that guy and others in the production loop can control that outcome.. I know it’s a little far fetched but theoretically possible.
Great, great play. I wanna see him play a good game today and quiet the doubts no matter what happens with the final score. As far as I'm concerned, this is the Super Bowl.
It’s not even that, they’ve barely put a hand on a receiver at the los. It’s just free release after free release then wondering why Mahomes is getting the ball out in a millisecond

The Giants were not trading up into the top 10 from 23, no matter how much Ben McAdoo may have liked Mahomes. It was never a realistic idea, no matter how good it sounds in hindsight.

You mean the way KC did from 27?
Yea it's never realistic for the Giants to trade for a super talent at QB.

Why? The Chiefs traded their 27th and 91st draft pick that year and their first rounder in 2018.

We had the 23rd pick.
Because John Mara sees Eli as the son he didn't have. They thought they had a few years left of him. The Chiefs did it because nobody loved Alex Smith. Eli had won them two super bowls and just came off a playoff appearance, it was not happening.
The Chiefs running game (with Pacheco) is killing the Baltimore defense. I don't think they anticipated Reid depending on it as much, but if KC can continue to run like this, Mahomes will destroy them (like he's doing now).

It would help football operations if John Mara stopped viewing our QBs as the son he never had.
First down down field throw was a bad decision by Mahomes. Then CEH blows a blitz pick up. Then a terrible punt after not getting points the drive before.
4th and short ... Just run a QB sneak. I don't get it. Throw in your back up if you don't want to run the risk of Mahomes getting hurt. Do something similar to that stupid tush push. It will work.

are watching in slow motion. It’s a bang bang play and has to be super hard on the defense. The alternative is that you are asking the defense to essentially give the play to the QB. Not fair to the defense either.

threw into triple coverage. It would have be stunning if that hadn't been intercepted. As someone said earlier in the thread, aside from two plays, he's been terrible today.
You can't throw something in triple coverage there
Make sure you grumble that to yourself during his Hall of Fame induction.
Maybe you should buy your tickets to his induction ceremony now.
There is nothing about his accomplishments thus far that would justify getting enough votes for the HOF. Eli did not have the stats but had two championships and there is still question as to whether he will get in. If Lamar continues like this, there is no way.
When he is put in the position where he must pass to win, it all falls apart. Just look at the Giants vs Ravens.

Baltimore lost this game on the line of scrimmage. The KC defensive line took away the run from the Ravens. I think that is where the game turned, should Baltimore not come back.

No excuse. What I learned on BBI is all top QBs will elevate the guys around them. It is Lamar's fault the OL did not play well.

Both defenses were lights out. Mahomes made the throws, Lamar did not. That was the difference IMO.

Actually the Chiefs secondary. Lamar had a lot of time all day, but nobody open.

Haha, yep
IMO - should have utlized LJax as the Bills do with Josh Allen - use his legs.
They pretty much kept him a passer today - and he's not a top 10 passer IMO.
Let's stop including other QBs in the Mahomes tier

2 MVPs pretty much cements it.
Not even close to the Hall of Fame.
For a guy who is often in MVP consideration he sure comes up short often, if not just purely looking bad. He can make highlight plays at times but is incredibly inconsistent and really inadequate on average plays. He made some terrible throws and even worse decisions today. The decision and throw on the interception were both pathetic. MVPs don't make that throw.
I just watched a team be confederate against their coach. This is not the same Baltimore that made SF look bad....in SF. They didn't look close to being the #1 seed. I honestly don't know what I watched.
But passing Jerry effing Rice in receptions in the playoffs? They need to stop talking about his personal life so much and appreciate what a special player he is.
7 points until garbage time. Nearly 3 quarters without points. Horrible game by him. Inaccurate. Internal clock off. Holding the ball far too long. Say what you will about Odell too. We all know he’s not 2016 Odell but not involving him until the 4th quarter was a big mistake imo. Awful penalties. You hold kc to 17 you need to win that game. This falls on Lamar
These garbage roughing cals by accepting them as status quo. Its the same with the peopl who want to see kick offs but always say things like “well you might as wel get rid of kickoffs now that they dont happen anymore”
Oh please. Was there one call in the game that wasn’t legit? The Ravens screwed themselves with dumb penalties, and they had to be called. The DL who clotheslined Mahomes with a literal punch to the face was lucky he wasn’t ejected, and I’d bet if it was in the regular season he would’ve been.
Zay Flowers was out the rest of the game after he punched the bench, right? If so, that’s one of the biggest blunders I’ve ever seen in professional sports. I’ve seen a guy get hurt celebrating a TD, but for a key player to injure himself with plenty of time left in an AFC Championship game? After he’d just made 2 massive 1 min prior to cost them points? Talk about self destruction of historic proportion.
He dared the Ravens to throw short and they really did not do it. Romo said it early that the Chiefs struggle with the screen and TE play. Was it the OC or Lamar or both

Nowhere near as big as his blunder pushing the DB on the ground, spinning the ball right next to his head and standing over him taunting him when Flowers had done nothing other than catch a greatly underground pass when he was wide open because of a blown coverage. He did nothing on that play to brag about, and it likely cost then the TD.

The Bills defense got torched because they were injured. Ravens are fairly healthy.

My kid asked a few minutes ago how we didn't draft Pacheco. Had to remind him of this.
He makes a lot of easy throws but he's a great decision maker and rarely botches the easy throws once he knows where it's going, unlike a lot of QBs.
Why? I'd be fired up too lol

Were you a hater during the 2022 season as well? Or did you just pull a disappearing act ala GoTerps?
Oh I started hating you ~November.
The only thing he did was not suck.
He’s been really bad this half. Forget the run. Let Mahomes throw it and win it.
Who GAF about TV showing Swift?
JFC. Got a great game going on.

Daniel who?

To be fair, the Ravens are not letting Lamar run, either.
Who GAF about TV showing Swift?
That was a quarter-century ago. Easily outweighed by my dislike of Andy Reid and generally being sick to death of the Chiefs.
Oh shut up Christian.

Let’s go Lamar, score a TD here and make this crowd go crazy.
You're not very good at this.
How many other QB's have the ability to rush for 700 yards and 7 TD's in a season. Let's complie a list.
You realize I'm making fun of the fact that all you do is this, and now you're doing it, right?
Flowers?
Meanwhile Andy Reid never won a Lombardi in Philly and CBS shows Taylor a lot.
But sure. Go Ravens.
That is all.
Or all of America should just shut the TV off!
No. He’s advising Flowers
I've got my TV on mute. My guess is that at least half of BBI does as well.
He was taking a boat to the game and it apparently ran into rough weather
Yes, I do.
If you don't like him fine. Too many people pissing and moaning over Romo. Yes he talks too much, but his analysis id good.
Quote:
That still thinks Romo is a good announcer?

Me too
My boys on BRI would come and bail me out right?

No. He’s advising Flowers
*golf clap*
But that’s the rule. I hate the rule but it’s a by the book call.

I totally forgot he was on the Ravens.
What a waste of 15 million. LOL

are watching in slow motion. It’s a bang bang play and has to be super hard on the defense. The alternative is that you are asking the defense to essentially give the play to the QB. Not fair to the defense either.
But that’s the rule. I hate the rule but it’s a by the book call.
I get it. No disagreement from me on that.
I'm more amazed the Ravens/Harbaugh/Fans/etc were surprised that was a penalty.
remember when they did broadcast a game without announcers?
Sure he is.
That’s the legacy
Make sure you grumble that to yourself during his Hall of Fame induction.
Who cares? You realy want that to be the football standard going forwsrd? Gtfoh
Hahaha.
Go Chiefs!
I'm more amazed the Ravens/Harbaugh/Fans/etc were surprised that was a penalty.
That too (:
Meanwhile this...
was about to say we've got a barnburner
Ravens could’ve easily won this game if they played smarter.
Horrible decision by LJax.

I’ll be sure to do that in your fantasy dream world. 😀
lol
And KC has been true to this second half all season long, they are the worst scoring team in the second half.
Currently getting shutout.
As is BALT
Stuck with that horrific Lamar Jackson contract?
Well he did play a role.
Perhaps it was SB XXXV

That sounds good to me.
But, we shouldn't stop there.
How about a list of QB's who have won 2, or more, playoff games in their career?
How about a list of QB's who've lost half, or more, of their playoff games by at least 31 points?
How about a list of QB's who get paid 40 million dollars, or more, for each win in a season?
If he's not incorporating the run into his game, he's not maxing his QB abilities.
He's an above average thrower, but the run game makes him elite.
This game is not over - KC still has to finish.
Very George Orwellian.

Very George Orwellian.
LOL, you're not getting that call - triple coverage and severely underthrown.
Ravens defense is kick ass man.

Ugh you had to remind me
How about don't be an asshole or you're an asshole?
Bingo!
Reid has been outmaneuvered by Minter.
Thank you for your contribution
I’m criticizing him because he’s letting me down. I want ravens to win and these door knobs keep screwing up

Not even close to the Hall of Fame.
The offense has been shit for 3 quarters.
Running the ball twice is not going to get it done.
Let Mahomes do it.

Every multiple MVP winner goes to the HOF.
he's doing his part. and why is that funny?
Really?
But he still just has to tap as Romo said.
He did it twice in the 4th quarter. He had an INT to Love and then he fumbled when KT sacked him.

1st and 10 is better than 1st and five.
And you give up yardage - but dont give up time.
KC is unbelievable.
Some she the ravens
Who cares? As long as it's a good one
No excuse. What I learned on BBI is all top QBs will elevate the guys around them. It is Lamar's fault the OL did not play well.
Better that than another Lamar INT at the end…
Quote:
Baltimore lost this game on the line of scrimmage. The KC defensive line took away the run from the Ravens. I think that is where the game turned, should Baltimore not come back.

Haha, yep
Balls call and throw, and a great catch.
Andy Reid is one of the best head coaches in NFL history. Definitely top 10.
This!
And they don't have that many weapons? go get their OC for goodness sake.
Both defenses were lights out. Mahomes made the throws, Lamar did not. That was the difference IMO.

Actually the Chiefs secondary. Lamar had a lot of time all day, but nobody open.
Was thinking the same thing.
He looks like a DB playing WR.

IMO - should have utlized LJax as the Bills do with Josh Allen - use his legs.
They pretty much kept him a passer today - and he's not a top 10 passer IMO.

Rather the QB
10 pts. Not going to win it against Andy Reid led offense.
Mike MacDonald did great for BAL but the Raven offense kept making critical errors despite the Chiefs not doing anything for three quarters.
Quote:And they don't have that many weapons? go get their OC for goodness sake.
Their OC might become HC if Reid retires, which is possible if he wins another Super Bowl.
Nope. Lamar sucked today. Deal with it. Go console your buddy.
That's how you saw this game called?
Yeah, it was the refs playing out of control and taking stupid penalties. They tried to bully the Chiefs even in warmups.
This was supposed to be a transition year for KC.
Save that MVP for the guy moving on.
Dude. Come on.
Their defense was the best unit on the team this year.
Looking like that dumb post mocking people knocking Lamar in the playoffs didn't age well. Probably smarter to let the playoffs play out first.
Congrats to the Chiefs!
LJax, the rest of the O, and Todd Monken were out-played and out-coached.
And badly.
Even my wife saw that and said WTF is he doing? And she knows nothing about football. It was the very definition of taunting.
Was it taunting or not?
NFL wants Week 1 games called the same way the Super Bowl is called.

He passed Jerry fucking Rice in all-time playoff receptions today and is already ahead in playoff TDs. What a beast.
Yeah.. that was it.
Quote:
As it's showing so far.
No they weren’t. They were killing great teams all year.
Want to get away?
But passing Jerry effing Rice in receptions in the playoffs? They need to stop talking about his personal life so much and appreciate what a special player he is.
Probably right. But Allen has played very well in the playoffs overall.
Not a good post unless you’re kidding.

Every game has some suspect/questionable plays. Baltimore did everything they got called for.
I prefer the NHL way of evening out the judgment calls.
30 yards versus 95?
This is an insult to Peyton Manning.

Mahomes roughing call were all good calls.
The INT by Jackson was triple coverage and under thrown.
And KC was called for two back to back holding calls - I thought the first was a poor call.
But that's football.
The Ravens knew they were beaten by KC.

If the refs wanted KC to win the game - why did they call back to back holding penalties on KC preventing them from scoring a TD.
Said no one ever. Dude, shut the fuck up.
Completely blew it. Jackson, the playcalling, discipline. All stupid. Can't make those mistakes against Mahomes.
2nd and 4 and you throw twice towards the end of the second half? Dumb.

Spags has been really, really good for 2 years now
Outstanding coach. More steady than his brother.
Lamar’s head.
And the Ravens forgot what got them there… run the ball.
Must have graded on a curve…
Lamar’s head.
And the Ravens forgot what got them there… run the ball.
I would slightly amend this to include Monken, too.
But, otherwise, you nailed it...
Not from me. That KC defense is for real.
Don’t see a Lombardi in his future.
Quote:
Don’t criticize Lamar too much or you’re a racist.
Said no one ever. Dude, shut the fuck up.
You’re a blind dipshit if you really believe this.
Then having fucked that up royally, there’s a makeable FG to keep it a 1 possession game to give you a chance at the end given the clock.
