nah, this is an obvious sign that Mara loves Maye and intends to draft him. Since Mara listens to fans, the fans have spoken that it is time to move on from Jones. Mara has found his new guy, with the fans approval of course.
and he actually almost threw a horrific interception. Good move getting advice from Eli for any QB.
Can you elaborate on this? You watched Maye play one half of football and he almost threw a bad INT.
Are you suggesting it's good to get advice from Eli because of that INT he almost threw? Or are you just saying getting advice from Eli in general is a good idea?
Bw. As, I said I did not see Maye enough to make a comment pro or con and I mentioned the almost pick because it was one of those wtf are you thinking type.
I have seen some draft people say he had a bunch of new WR's this season that had a impact on him.
I wish they could move up to get him or he somehow falls to 6.
I havent seen any of his games. Just watched 2 Youtube highlights on him. Not a good way to evaluate.
But he doesnt really stand out to me enough to say hes in the top 3 or the top 6 QBs in the draft. Just going to have to trust the Giants scouts on this.
I'm betting its for this guy. He fits what they want in a QB (some have comped him to Josh Allen).
Its also possible, he will be QB3, and if Chicago takes MHJ, there's a chance he makes it at least to 5, and Schoen can move up a spot to grab him.

I think we’re going to get a read on this with what the Giants do during FA. If they sign a young guy like Browning, then I think not. If they go older, like a Brissett or resign Tyrod, then I think a top tier QB will be in play. Stay tuned.

I have seen some draft people say he had a bunch of new WR's this season that had a impact on him.
Actually, Maye had a terrific transfer WR when he was cleared to play by the NCAA - Tez Walker. Walker will be drafted on the first or second day this April. But Maye was managing a new group of WRs, and they had some OL issues along the way.
So, I admit there was some pullback this year. But the talent hasn't changed.
If Maye drops out of the top of out the top five slots, a team is going to get a great, great QB prospect. There are a lot of tools to work with.
Their target should be Jayden Daniels. However the Giants do it, they need to draft a top tier QB and move on from the Gettleman mistake. I know they're legally bound to voice their support in Jones, but that's just playing politics.
I hope we've seen the end of the Jones era already.
but if the Giants' evaluators have a high grade on him they should go for it. I'd be thrilled.
Tim Hasselbeck (ex-Giant QB), who is a college football broadcaster and draft evaluator for ESPN, recently said Maye is the best QB prospect he has seen in his 15 years at ESPN.
And Hasselbeck isn't some guy who intentionally tries to shock people.

Let me be clear: if he drops to 6 and the Giants pass on him I'll be pissed.
I think the Giants are in a great spot: they are picking 6 and there are 5 QBs I'd be happy with in that spot. I'd even give them the benefit of the doubt on McCarthy, my least favorite of the Williams/Daniels/Maye/Nix/Penix/McCarthy group.
I think they HAVE to pick one of these 6 QBs at 6. Their options to pick a QB are unlikely to be this good next year or the year after.
If it's Maye, great. I'm on board. Just. Fucking. Do. It.
Benjamin Albright reported that there are many NFL scouts that are higher on McCarthy than Nix/Penix.
Of these six he reminds me of Jones the most. He is slow to deliver the ball; has to see it to throw it. That scares me. Physical tools are all there, but they're there with Jones too.
But if they want to take a shot on him, I'd be happy to be wrong.
Let me be clear: if he drops to 6 and the Giants pass on him I'll be pissed.

I hear you. Since you have some doubts, I thought you might find Hasselbeck's comment worthwhile about Maye.

Yeah I've seen lots of really positive comments on Maye. I've seen others (Randy Mueller comes to mind) who aren't as positive.
But there are so many people analyzing this stuff now that you can find any opinion on any player if you dig hard enough. I keep coming back to the best things I saw all year: Daniels against Florida and Penix against Texas. They completely different players with different skill sets, but each a guy that I'd love to see the Giants build an offense for.
But we've got to take one. I'm not concerned about reaching. Who would we be missing out on? Nabers or Odunze? Both good players, but WR is becoming like RB in that you can find them anywhere in the draft. There's no can't miss edge or OT that's way better than the QBs. We wouldn't be missing on Trent Williams or Myles Garrett.
Now's the time. Man I'd love it if Drake Maye is a Giant.

Putting aside my current state of mind that we will go small and not big on the QB situation, I would take any of these seven QBs in this draft to replace Jones. But I would not invest the 6th pick in any player not named Daniels, Maye, Williams. Too many question marks in my view. Maybe move up late into day one or early day two for any of the others.
Let's say Schoen falls full bloom in love with McCarthy and his intel suggests he will be there in the late teens. Well, get the hell out of #6, pick up some more picks, and move down.
I think it's pretty clear a quarterback with more upside than Jones will get picked 6th or later. When Schoen looks at the spreadsheet for 2025 & 2026 and sees 78M next Daniel Jones, I hope he has the mental creativity to pretend that says free agent guard and receiver.
That should make it easier if Mayes or someone else falls.

This is where I'm at. If they want a QB and one of the 'big 3' isn't there, trade down to where you can get someone else that you also like, even if not as much.
Problem is teams like Atlanta, Minny, Denver are licking right after us and may take him.
I’m like you - I don’t want McCarthy at 6. But if Schoen loves him that much - just take him at 6. And start him immediately.
We've got to see where Cousins lands. I think he will knock ATL or Minn out of the running.
And I don't know how to read Payton out in Denver. He's a confident guy who might think Pratt is the guy he can mold and develop. So, your guess is as good as mine with him.
But I do agree. If we take McCarthy at #6 he needs to start pronto.
Maye is easily my least favorite of the big name QB prospects

No, if you fall full bloom in love with him, don't get too cute. Take him at #6.
Lol, I was thinking the same thing.
What is a Giants type of QB Sean?
In my just over 40 years watching them they have had a lot of good to great QB play imv. Better than many franchises imv.
Hahahaha! I just couldn't hold that in.

Hey .. if the first QB from Charlotte via Duke didn’t work out, why not try a second, this time via UNC.
