1) They individually had talent, but they owe their success to George Martin.
2) After their first album, they were no longer rock and rollers. They were balladeers.

Indeed...I'd say my fave ballads after the first album were Helter Skelter, Revolution, I Am The Walrus, Tomorrow Never Knows, and I Want You (She's So Heavy).
They were almost as good as
