Michael Pratt.... Tell me what you know about him

NormanAllen_95 : 2/10/2024 11:41 am
I didnt watch a second of Tulane last year. It looks like he put up solid numbers in the air, has good size and can run a little bit, and throws the ball with ease. Is he some who is being thought highly of? I know hos level of comp was lower, but he had 68% completion percentage and looked good 8n his highlights (I know, I know).

In a controlled setting like Senior Bowl practice he looks like someone we are better off waiting for on Day 2 versus reaching at 6 if the top 3 are gone. However, his mechanics against game level pressure look inconsistent and that impacts his play. You can’t just go by completion percentage or you’d hate Josh Allen coming out. Accuracy also includes ball placement so receivers can get yards after the catch. Sy brought up Daniel Jones comps. At times it looked like he took too many sacks because he was waiting for windows he just won’t get at the pro level. If coachable I think there is talent there that Daboll could develop as a 3rd or 4th round pick, but I wouldn’t expect anything from him in 2024 so you are resigning yourself to Jones/DeVito again.
For what it's worth...

Sy said that Pratt reminded him of Daniel Jones. (I don't think he meant it as a compliment.)
Pratt is one of my favorite...

players in the draft in terms of the underrated category.

Has a lot of college starts, won some big games (beat USC last year in the Cotton Bowl), and got better every year.

Definitely signals project, but he has nice tools - can really spin it (tied with Penix for velocity at the Senior Bowl), has good poise, good athlete with some mobility, and like the way he throws receivers open.

If Schoen is still all in on Jones, Pratt would be a good day three pick to develop behind Jones.

I have a feeling he may sneak into day two.
I originally started seeing him as a day 3 pick

I think he’s a day 2 guy though, somewhere in the 3rd round for a team that has an established starter and is either looking to groom a back up, or if said starter is on the back end of his career, possibly develop for a couple years.

There’s things there to like, things not to like, isn’t a “Day 1” guy.

To Sy’s comp about Jones, I can’t argue, but Jones would be looked at in a much different light if he were drafted with pick 86 vs pick 6 and left to develop at his own pace.

Def never considered him with a 1st. Our 2nd 2nd or 3rd might make sense tho.
Saw some highlights on Youtube

Looks good on short throws and intermediate. Throws short on the deep ball.
