and who knows, who cares, probably as good musically as some bands already in, and there are not many things in life I hate.
I try and just be like if I can't say anything nice, don't say anything, and there are not a lot of things I have bad things to say about, but man Dave Matthews Band is the exception.
I can't really explain why. I am sure it's irrational they just trigger a hate reflex I guess.
they seem fake, plastic, manufactured, vanilla, non-special, and their frat boy fan base seems just as superficial as he does and some of them are as annoying as his voice.
and I know I'm in the extreme minority with this opinion but one of the beautiful things about music is it doesn't matter what I think, people who love them can continue to love them.
it would be perfect IMO for the rock & roll hall of fame for them to get in and be the poster boys.
I would vote for Ozzy Osbourne because I have recently listened to War Pigs and Crazy Train and he had great & strong messages in both. I should listen to more Ozzy and Black Sabbath.

As someone who has been going to DMB shows for 25+ years, let me apologize on behalf of my fellow DMB fans for making a piece of your life so uncomfortable.

No apologies necessary or snarkiness. people can like whatever they like for music and not feel bad about it. my life is not uncomfortable even this piece of it (when dave matthews ban music was playing within earshot, I just don't find this guys music enjoyable in fact far from it, you shouldn't be defensive because people don't like what you like.
Some might think I'm a cranky old classic rock guy. Truth is I rarely listen to classic rock stations and I like some artists and bands much newer and contemporary than those on the list, like Spoon, Cage The Elephant, Wilco, et al.
I was about 14 when Foreigner burst onto the scene like explosive diarrhea, which is what they sounded like to me. Unlike some bands that i disliked or hated from that era and have softened on, I loathe Foreigner as much as ever.
Ozzie is already in with Black Sabbath. It's debatable if his solo career is worthy.
I liked DMB for a little while back around 1997-98. Then I saw them in concert and they put me into a deep sleep. So deep it was like I was comatose and had a near death experience. A big non fan ever since.
Overall pretty pathetic list, but I'm sure some will get in.
King Crimson didn't have a lot of commercial hits, but can't say that about the others.
When I was a youngin' enjoying Tull, ELP and early Supertramp, I didn't know what the term "progressive rock" was or what it meant. It was obviously different from the Who, Stones, et al., but it was still rock n roll to me.
a Rock and Roll HOF. Cher? Give me a fucking break. Mariah Carey? Fucking joke.
I just looked up Mariah's stats. Mariah has like 19 #1 hits and countless other top 40 hits. She had 6 #1 albums. If anyone belongs in the Rock Hall of Fame it's her.
I am no fan of her music but she has the stats to get in. Plus Rock and Rolls roots come from R&B music which is her main genre.

I was trying to be facetious. Obviously, I failed...
We tried but you were yawning, look again
Rock is dead
Rock is dead
Rock is dead

No offense to anyone, but that's the 1st thing that came to my mind when i saw the list. When's Milli Vanilli eligible?
;)

and yes if its a strict definition of rock and roll then yes, keep her out. However it now longer is.
My guess is The Dave Matthews will get in as well.

It's irrational bias, imo.

even if you don't like metal, it's hard to deny Iron Maiden's influence, success and popularity. Their first seven albums are all classics.
