No one is 100% right, but he's had some viral clips on Manziel being a poor prospect, Stroud over Young (not a first rounder). I believe he had Mahomes as a second rounder but said he could be a potential Elway if molded in the right situation.
I'll be interested in his opinion on the rest of the 2024 QBs.

They all have warts. Williams play against better teams in 2023 was not good. He was reckless at times. He got away with some athletic plays at times but in the pros the players are quicker and better.
And Brohm over Rodgers
That’s why he throws out hot takes. So he is visible again.
He’s a dummy who spent a decade droning on about the importance of the “factor back”. Idiot.
You have absolutely zero idea whether he is "as close to the truth" as you're going to get. Every couple of years we hear about the latest and greatest "generational talent" whether its Lawrence, Young, Winston, or whomever. You will never know until these guys start playing on Sundays. Fans get so worked up about wanting to get X draft prospect because the so-called "experts" in the media say he'll be great. Chances are Williams won't be much better than most of the previous "generational talents" who went high in the draft.
Or worked for a NFL films show watching game tape for a living.
I do think Hodge raises a good point about Fields. Fields is a very gifted player with both his arm and legs; and, I believe, a better athlete than CW. Frankly, I don't think the decision to move on from Fields is the easiest call.

He graded Mahomes as boom or bust coming out of college. A potential Elway. Definitely means Mahomes the college prospect.

One can question CW's height and the way he carries himself, but I have no idea how you watch him throw a football and not think he's a special talent.

Sy is retweeted Hoge fwiw.
I don't claim to be an expert. Just collecting opinions of guys who have made some good calls when it wasn't popular to do so.

Ugh, "Sy retweeted"
It's going to be interesting soon when the combine, pro day and the interviews hit. Also find guys like Nix and McCarthy to be liked by scouts and GMs far more than fans do.
As for Fields. He's been up and down, more down and he has a contract coming up. You're in a spot like Chicago is, you must certainly move on and you restart.

Apparently Hoge had Trubisky over Mahomes and Watson. He said Joe Burrow was the only first round QB in 2020 draft which included Herbert, Tua, Love and Hurts. So... But good to hear a variety of opinions.
He won't drop. But the best player in the draft is MH Jr. and it's not close. People understandably are desperate for a franchise QB, but year after year guys w the physical tools be one fail. Everyone blathers on and on about Mahomes or Allen and they ignore the75 % who bust out.
IMO scouts over rate QBs due to their importance in today's offensive skewed NFL. But look back. There's no way Kyler Murray should have been the 1st pick. Mitch Trubisky? Rosen Darnold etc. The need is huge. But when was the last time all the top QBs guys were really worth it? The Eli/Ben/Rivers draft class I guess

I am beginning to wonder if any of these QB's are worth it in the top three.

WRs, OTs, ER, CBs have busted significantly up high too, often even in he top clusters. Point take though on the “have to get a QB” at any cost crowd. It leads to an inflation and market frenzy remiscent of Black Friday shopping of yesteryear.
This is how I do it every single year

Agree that other positions bust out high. You just don’t see teams trading 4 picks for a WR or OT. Ever. And say Daniels or Maye miraculously fall to 5. Tearing up a spot is something I get. Just think until many of these Qbs get to the NFL we just never really know if their talent and mental level really translates. I want Jones gone just to stop the never ending nightmare threads lol. But not at an insane cost.
That was my thought as well. I don't think I'd bet the house on Hurts having the better career when all is said and done.
I also don't think it's pertinent to mention QBs that most or the entire NFL passed on in round one in reference to Hoge's record.
