What NYG can argue he wasn't the best of all time and then on top of that, the NYG was the team to hand him two of his biggest losses despite that. It's not like he didn't work for every success he had or lucked into anything. He knows his shit and put in the work, was successful. If he were to have beaten the NYG in one or both games, then sure, the hate would be legendary.
there is so much more to playing QB than arm strength, accuracy and athletic ability. The ability to see the field and made good quick decisions is critical to good QB play....and I'm sorry to say it but Jones is just awful at this and why he struggles so much.
RE: I’m looking forward to listening to him call games next season.
Makes good points on the ability of the QB to recognize coverages and make changes at the line of scrimmage...but I would have asked him if BB let him do that as a Rookie?
Some of the basics, like pocket awareness, understanding the defense, etc are signs of intelligence or Game IQ. Thats important.
But some of this is learned/taught over time. Is there any college Coach/Qb combo doing that now in college? Probably not so much, we're talking about 20 year old kids.
But it does remind us that athletic QBs are good, but get one that can process the game as its being played.
but I’m looking forward to listening to him call games next season.
They wouldn’t be paying him $30+ million/year if you were in the minority. Personally, I can’t stand looking at him or listening to him. Looks like he as already had too much plastic surgery.
but if the QB is mobile/athletic to move the chains with his legs, that's an asset, too.
So, I wouldn't downplay that too much...
True but, go and read former NY Giants CB Mark Collins's comments after the Chiefs beat the Ravens. His point was look how often Jackson gets the play, looks at his wrist band/ play calls and then heads to the line of scrimmage. At that time Jackson is running whatever play is called. He isn't changing protections, he isn't going to audibles, he runs whatever play is called. On top of it, the defense knows if you keep him in the pocket he will be chucking it deep and you can handle that all day.
I think mobility is great and can be a huge factor over 17 games where teams don't "sell out" to stop individual teams each week but do put somewhat of an emphasis on that weeks competition within the overall schematics of the defense they play. In the Playoffs, it is one and done and you sell out against that weeks opponent. That might be a solid reason why Jackson's playoff record is not good and his stats are far below his regular season stats (per game)..
but I’m looking forward to listening to him call games next season.
Me too. I find 99% of the mainstream game commentary to be empty, unnecessary explanations of what I just saw with my own eyes. I'd much rather watch a game with no announcers and just game sounds like I do in person.
Unfortunately I'm sure they'll ask him to dumb it down at some point so Brady haters will stop complaining that he "talks to much."
If there was ever a coach with and open mind he would
I am too.
They are pretty bad

I would love over time to see which performed better.
Probably the QB's
That explains why some see something good happening and others look at the results
Making up narratives me in your head again
