I’ve ever seen over the course of a season.

I think a big part of it is that a great class of QB’s (which included Eli) have hung it up and not been replaced by the same quality of QB outside of Mahomes and maybe Josh Allen. I still don’t see Jackson and Hurts as being dominant QB’s. It seems like every year at least one defense figures them out and they are done. Who else is there? Prescott, Herbert, Tua, Purdy? None of these guys is a dominant QB. Mahomes will probably win another 5 SB’s at this rate.

Herbert and Harbaugh are a possibly huge obstacle. Also Payton if he gets a QB will blunt them. They’re going to get beat up a bit in that division going forward.

I need to see it from Herbert. I just don’t see any great caliber QB’s in the league right now outside of Mahomes and Allen. Stroud was a nice development this year. I guess I’m just used to seeing at least 5-6 dominant QB’s in the league and I don’t think on paper the league is there right now. Changing of the guard perhaps. Great time to be Mahomes lol.

He’s screaming for the Chiefs to take the game to the next quarter. Why? The 49ers were gassed, they had no idea what the Chiefs were doing, and why give them an extra opportunity to regroup?

Probably why that jackass always choked, he never understood the situation.

I'm not a fan of Romo, but that's not at all what he was doing. He was just explaining why they weren't taking a timeout - the game wasn't going to be over if the time clock ran out without it being tied. I actually appreciated that explanation because I admit I was having a brain fart and wondering why they weren't taking a timeout myself.

And reading earlier comments here, at least one other poster still was confused after the game. Can't blame him - he probably had Romo muted. lol

I was talking about the time left in OT. There were 3 seconds left. Now unless they get to finish the drive and switching the field. But I’m not sure what the rules are

They would switched the field like at the end of a quarter. The time was not a problem.

yep. if it wasn't for switching ends of the field they may as well just turn the clock off for OT

It is but they wont be able to pay all their guys. Some tough goodbyes will come and they’ll have to get lucky in draft and retool every year or two with cheap vet pickups looking for a ring.

As it is they are going to be at risk or forced to cut Thuney, Jones, Snead are FAs looking for huge money all this offseason and possibly Kelce to retirement in a year.

Reid and Spags are also two superb coaches. I don’t see them sticking around for another 5 or 6 years.

As much as we amaze at the dynasty, and how quickly the spark comes to start it, the end always comes suddenly.

Yeah, for the Super Bowl - the level of play left you wanting more. Playing calling, excecution.......

Even going to OT and nearly double OT - that was about the only thing that saved the game.

Interesting Mahomes had just one scorind drive in regulation and that was from a turnover on a punt.

Missed XP was huge of course too.

It made Spags job so easy leaving Purdy in 3rd and long every drive in the 2nd half, then Shannahan suddenly remembered oh yeah I have the best rb in the league why don't I run the ball some more for their final drive in regulation and their drive in OT but completely ignored running the ball before that. That also left their defense gassed because they had no time to rest and they were playing great before that. Completely nonsensical coaching for such an offensive mastermind. He's overrated imo

Agree 100% with all the RE:SFs ...
Manny in CA : 2/12/2024 12:06 am : link

The 49ers O-line was ripping KC's defense in the 1st half, the all of a sudden they go several series passing; (why I the asked myself) ....

You keep your foot on the accelerator, till they prove they can stop you (sprinkle in a few short passes to keep them honest).

"The Eye of the Tiger" developed cataracts, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

But he won't because the Giants keep giving him $$$ to play a few games a year. He'll show-up at camp and be unstoppable (because his skills haven't diminished), then he'll go a couple of season games, get hurt, transfer to his home sofa and collect his checks (again).

Eh, I don’t know man. I keep seeing people say this and comparing it to the greatest Subs of all time. I guess I’m the minority but I just don’t see it that way. It was close and went to overtime so that was great. The ending was fantastic. But it takes more than just a great ending to make an all time game. I just felt this game was very sloppy and neither team played particularly well. Turnovers, penalties, constant injuries, etc, there just wasn’t much of a flow to it much of the game. It seemed both teams were just trying to give the game away. But, Patrick Mahomes is a machine and worked his magic when it counted.

Great ending. Another terrific, clutch performance by one of the greatest to ever play the QB position. But one of the best Super Bowls? In my opinion, not a chance

in either team. Never liked the 49ers. Would like to see someone else besides KC.

That being said, 49ers have to be kicking themselves.

They dominated the first half but only had a TD lead. The fumble on the first drive took certain points off the board.

The play calling by Shannahan in the 3rd quarter defies explanation, especially after the interception. They get 10 yards there, they kick a FG.

The missed extra point.

Mahomes is now in all-time territory. You can't give him a window.

that go to last drive in 4th quarter or OT always get "elevated" in stature.

But for a good 2/3 chunk - that game was horrendous - ugly ugly football and sloppy coaching.

It will simply be remembered not for great play, but simply for Chiefs "dynasty" run, and will be "elevated" based on that as well.

But great exciting fundamental hard nosed football? Heck no - not even in the top 15-20.

I think Kyle has a lot of genius to him legitimately and also some shortsightedness.

IMO, he's a little too reliant on playing without a top OL. He has an elite skill position group but not having a top OL in the Super Bowl will kill you.

If he truly believes in Purdy (which I'm pretty sure he does), then he should pivot towards building a great OL even at the expense of losing Deebo.

He would be able to run with power more consistently, and be able to pass block just a bit better.

The Super Bowl is ultimately won on offense/QB, and you need some ballers in the skill groups, but the OL matters more.

The issue ultimately as I see it, is a reliance on everything going right to win.

If the Niners had the Eagles OL and leaned on it, they likely win the game very, very comfortably.

That Eagles OL in hindsight is what made them so tough these last two years, more than anything else.
