Figured I would play around a bit.
I think the Commanders swap picks with the Bears and the Bears commit to Fields.
1. Commanders - QB Caleb Williams (USC)
2. Bears - WR Marvin Harrison Jr. (Ohio State)
3. Patriots - QB Jayden Daniels (LSU)
4. Cardinals - WR Malik Nabers (LSU)
5. Chargers - TE Brock Bowers (Georgia)
6. THE NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS - QB Drake Maye (UNC)
7. Titans - OT Joe Alt (Notre Dame)
8. Falcons - WR Rome Odunze (Washington)
9. Bears - OT Olu Fashanu (Penn State) - Fashanu and Wright - there are your bookends
10. Jets - OT Taliese Fuaga (Oregon State)
11. Vikings - EDGE Dallas Turner (Alabama)
12. Broncos - QB JJ McCarthy (Michigan)
13. Raiders - CB Terrion Arnold (Alabama)
14. Saints - EDGE Jared Verse (Florida State)
15. Colts - CB/S Cooper Dejean (Iowa)
16. Seahawks - EDGE Laiatu Latu (UCLA)
17. Jaguars - CB Nate Wiggins (Clemson)
18. Bengals - OT JC Latham (Alabama)
19. Rams - CB Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo)
20. Steelers - CB Kool-Aid McKinstry (Alabama)
21. Dolphins - OT Amarius Mims (Georgia)
22. Eagles - CB Kamari Lassiter (Georgia) -- I sense a trend
23. Texans - WR Keon Coleman (Florida State) - I think it's a steal here
24. Cowboys - OT Tyler Guyton (Oklahoma)
25. Packers - EDGE Chop Robinson (Penn State)
26. Buccaneers - DT Johnny Newton (Illinois) - another steal. He's a top-13 player for me.
27. Cardinals - DT Byron Murphy II (Texas)
28. Bills - WR Brian Thomas Jr. (LSU)
29. Lions - OL Troy Fautanu (Washington)
30. Ravens - WR Xavier Legette (South Carolina)
31. Chiefs - DT Maason Smith (LSU)
32. 49ers - IOL Jackson Powers-Johnson (Oregon)
I would, yes. I think Fields has proven himself a starting QB and a very effective one at that. The one wrinkle is that he's going to get paid bigly in a year or two and ideally you'd want to have a QB on his rookie deal.
But the way I see it, I'd rather have Fields and a future HOFer in Marvin Harrison Jr. and/or a shitload of draft capital than Caleb Williams and the third rounder that you would get in a trade for Fields.

Drake Maye is actually my favorite of the three and I would love it if he were to somehow fall to them. Williams comes with character and coachability concerns and with Daniels it's hard to untangle the fact that he was throwing to two first round WRs, one of whom will likely go in the top ten. That being said, Daniels gets an A+ from me when it comes to character and coachability and I'm guessing he will be a favorite when head coaches consider who they'd most like to spend the next 5-15 years coaching.
How would people feel about a draft in which the Giants took Bowers with the 6th overall pick and used the 39th and 70th overall picks to trade back into round one for a QB (McCarthy, Nix, or Penix) and used the 47th overall pick on a WR? I'm assuming they add a starting quality OG in free agency.
Why? So you can visit him in the hospital after 2 games behind this OL?
Note in this guys mock there are SIX OTs chosen, including 3 of the next 4 picks after NYG.
Watch the game tonight, and pay attention to how Mahomes and Purdy play behind a legit OL.

Anakim, you have a few prospects in the back half of round one that may not be too far behind the guys up front in terms of future potential.
This is why I'm so intrigued by the possibility of Bowers. The Giants would then still be able to grab a coveted WR in round two.

That would be a horrifically irresponsible pick. Picking a TE at 6 would be a remote thrower. If it was Gronk, knowing he would become Gronk, different story.
If all the qbs and WR are gone, ypu take Jared Verse, Latu or tade back if possible.
This Bowers talk has gotten out of control. Dalton Kincaid was taken in the 20s last year and he prodiced a solid 70 catches for 673 and a whopping 2 TDs. Its not like Bowers is considered to be THAT much better an NFL prospect. Taking him at 6 would be epically stupid.

If the Giants stay put at #6 and end up with Drake Maye I will be a happy guy. I just don’t see it playing out that way.

Oh yeah, right. If you pick a Tackle high in the draft you solidify the offensive line. Isn’t that why the Giants took Evan Neal?
Pay attention to the QB play and ask yourself why Kansas City is in this game every year. Hint - it isn’t their offensive line, which on their best day is average.

I've been saying this as well. I think NE would take Maye over Daniels, but maybe that's just Me hoping. I've wanted Daniels madly since October.
The point for "experts" is because they get paid to do it. The point for fans is because it's fun and helps further understanding of how you perceive the players in the draft. Anak puts a lot of time and effort into his draft analysis throughout the year and a mock draft is a fun way for him to project what he has seen and studied while stimulating discussion here. I don't see how you could say there is literally no purpose in them. I put any importance on mock drafts via the experts, but that doesn't mean there is no purpose.
Because they’re fun to do and it’s sorta like constructing a complex jig-saw puzzle with countless moving parts/variables.
don't read them. the thread was clearly marked as a mock draft. or are you beyond protecting your own time from being wasted but more broadly crusading against the wasting of time by the rest of us, the unwashed.
lol. they're harmless. I would like some accountability though. Some of these guys are terrible and are treated like experts, I think you should have to earn that label. Clearly Anakim is not trying to put himself in that category. he's just having fun (and killing time).
Wow.
Get some help.
The last first round HoF TE was Tony Gonzalez. Most of the guys who are great in today's game are not first rounders.
Maybe that's the changing with TEs becoming more athletic, but I wouldn't risk it.
