Congrats Coach Spags

allstarjim : 2/11/2024 11:07 pm
Will always hold a special place in my heart bc of SB 42, and now he holds the record!
Helluva coach

Does he make HOF as a DC?
Best DC in the league the past 15 years

Not even close.
One of the best DCs of all time, if not the best.

He probably deserves another HC opportunity, a lot of coordinators who were far worse got two head coach chances (Shurmur). Spags can't even get an interview.

It's also such an advantage to Reid to have a DC like Spags with no threat to leave as a HC.
Coordinators…

are not eligible for the hall for some dumb reason.

Sometimes a guy is just perfect fit as a coordinator. Not a good head coach, but absolutely mastermind on one side of the ball. They should 100% be eligible. And Spags is probably best DC in history of the league (in terms of resume). 2007 SB + 3 with Chiefs. Wish he ended up a Giant for life instead of KC. Still, guy will always have a special place in Giants history.

Very happy for Spags. Warm place in my heart for his work on the Giants. Delivered a Super Bowl on my birthday in 2008.

What a great big game coach!

See thread from last week. Not much enthusiasm then.

only DC with four Super Bowl rings...

...I believe they said.

He's had a great career, Congrats Spags!!!
The only bad part is now he'll be known

Of the four he has so far, I am pretty sure he values the NYG the most.

Just a hunch.
Amazing defensive coordinator.

One of the best at making adjustments. He is just that good. His passion for the game and how he handles himself is tops in my book.
If they ever decide to put coordinators in the HOF
moespree : 2/12/2024 12:12 am : link
He is a lock.

I really wouldn't argue with someone if they said he's the GOAT DC. If not, he's right there.
I think he takes over for Reid when he is done.
Giantimistic : 2/12/2024 7:57 am : link
He can carry on a winning system and not have to build one himself.
He's the best!

His defense against the Ravens
bc4life : 2/12/2024 8:44 am : link
and the 49ers is not getting anywhere near the credit they deserve. Play of the game might be the 3rd down stoppage right at the end of regulation.

Yeah, easily play of the game, and he had several of these blitzes that saved numerous TDs.

Very hard to consistently beat a blitz where you got a free rusher coming at you like that.

In the end, that was likely the difference in the game.
He's had some great defenses
Simms11 : 2/12/2024 10:12 am : link
and some HISTORICALLY bad Defenses. It's amazing to me that he could have a defense that bad. Personnel do make a difference. That said, he's done a great job in KC.

Good for him. I always have liked him.
Deserves a second shot a HC

wiser, more connections. Falls right into the giants firing Daboll.
