And while we have been stuck in a rather dark period for better than 10 years now, we’ve lost almost no ground on them in the big picture as a franchise.
Cowboys haven’t even sniffed a Super Bowl since the mid-90s and we still stand to tie them up with 5 when we win our next.
The 2017 Eagles really hurt in that the trophy case is no longer empty, but I’ll still take our 4 to their 1.
And yes, considering the odds are always with the field, it’s important to recognize stuff like this at the end of the season. If we can just get our shit together we’ll be ok.
I popped over to the Niners Reddit page, and no fans are appreciating their sustained success, they are upset they've yet to win a title this century. For all the down years, at least the Giants win when they get there mostly. No one gives a fuck who losses these games.

And the one loss while it sucked was a blowout
Nope. It's always funny mocking those two teams.

I don't agree with the context of this. Unless it's people without much of a life.
They get to watch so many weeks of excellent football. It's pretty pathetic for those that can't enjoy are such whiney losers. Let them deal with our shit. Our season is usually over after 4 weeks. Maybe they need to get the bug that's stuck up their butt?
When the Giants were doing well in 2022- I had so much fun partying with friends.
Best times watching football and Giants winning SUper Bowl was when I was in a bar taking down Pats (twice). The Victory was unreal. But in the Bar my friends and I and Giants fans - talking smack vs the Pats fans-- and watching them crumble.

The Giants have an amazing record in big games, ie championship games, games against undefeated opponents, etc. I'd dare say second to none, or at least very few
Its like getting the hell beaten out of you in a schoolyard drag out, but that same kid hets HIS ass kicked by an even tougher dide and then pointing and laughing at him 8n the cafeteria when he has a shiner.
Although I do enjoy this, it is BEYOND time for the Giants to finally get their collective shit together, though.
If 2024 is anything close to what 2023 was, it will once again become time to clean house...AGAIN.

Their history doesn't really make sense. 4-1 in super bowls. 5-0 in NFC title games. But, for as many down periods this franchise has had, I'm glad we've never seen a Super Bowl loss like SF just experienced. Fans don't get over losses like that.

And in that blowout, I am still convinced that if it were not for that BS holding call, and the touchdown holds, that the ravens would have taken a conservative offensive approach from then on. Giants would have probably still lost but I think you would have see a close game. I can only imagine the second guessing and revisiting a Super Bowl that you loose by one score.

It is like that simile.... but that's all we got

I agree with this too. I'm sick of the seasons over by October as well. My overall point though, it has to be really hard as a fan to see your team get that close and lose in such brutal fashion like SF just did.
But, to your point. If someone said to me I could sign for the Giants to win the 2027 and 2031 super bowls, but the next 15 years otherwise would be like the last decade for NYG, I'm probably not taking that deal as a fan.
When Giants lost big to Ravens I knew it was over for Fassel and Collins whether it took 2 years or 3 to reset.
Niners loss hurts because they should have won this game just like they should have won the one 4 years ago. This team was even more stacked and experienced and it feels like their window might close faster than we think. Age, wear and tear and free agency hits are coming now for their core roster and a retool for roster plan once they make decision on Purdy next offseason to extend?
To each their own.
To each their own.
Yea, because it’s not possible to want your team to be better but also have some perspective for a moment while we’re not at the top.

That isn't even remotely what I wrote, and I think you know that.

What’s the perspective? They were good 13 years ago? Cool.
13 years is a long time without being competitive
Only thing Dallas has over "us" is one more Super Bowl.
Their post season record is absolutely pathetic post Aikman Super Bowl victory in 1995.
Jamie ... pull that shit up
An organization as well run as the 49ers and they run into the Reid Mahomes buzzsaw. All that talent and work and they suffer a devastating defeat.
I think 2011 was it for us.

Although I'm not that fatalist, I do think the Giants invited bad football karma for potentially decades with the 2018 draft. Here is a team that had two magical runs in 2007 and 2011, was given a rare chance at rebuilding with the 2nd pick in the draft after a 3-13, looked at the football landscape (and the foundations of what coaches like Reid, McVay, and Shannahan were building), and said to themselves, "you know what? What we really need is a running back!"
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth (and I don't even mean they had to draft Darnold or something. At least pick up the damn phone and listen to the trade offers).

Why are you such a douche? The perspective, seeing as you lack any of it, is that in sports the odds are always going to be with the field and since you're not winning every year, it's helpful to look at the overall franchise resume.
How else can you ultimately measure NFL franchises if not by Super Bowl titles, or if you want to go back further, overall championships?
Since you are too busy being a cry baby, obviously you don't see this.

Just 4 years ago the Chiefs went 50 years without a Super Bowl appearance. Now they're the team everyone is sick of.

The attitude of resting on their laurels is exactly why the Giants are in the spot they are.
You can call it being a cry baby if you want, but I want to watch a good football team. Two outlier Super Bowl runs 13 and 17 years ago don’t change that.
The Giants have made the postseason 10 times in the last 30 years. They have been under .500 15 of the other years.
The OP merely pointed out it's a relief to see Dallas and Philly (And SF) not win a title once again.
I am sure you can find something else to argue about other than this particular thread. Throw a dart at any other page 1 topic.
The Giants have been bad for a number of reasons, the least of all being they are too loyal. They go through staff and coaches like I go through socks. They have been bad because they haven't drafted enough good and great players.
It aint the fans. It aint this thread. IT's PLAYERS. Not enough of them.

The funny thing is, I opened by acknowledging the "dark period" we've been in.
This was far from a chest thumping exercise. Just an acknowledgement that overall, we've had it pretty good given how hard it is to actually win.
Dude stop. Please. Can you go one fucking day without going "there." ONE DAY.
SInce 2013 the Giants wacked so many coaches, asst coaches and GMS I have literally lost count.
Go ahead and say it....you can't not say it.

You’ve lost count at two GMS?
Can you stop? Sorry the truth bothers you so much. You do this on every thread where someone is critical of the Giant.
The Giants weren’t too loyal to Reese, Coughlin, Eli? They all should have been moved on two years before they actually were moved on from. That’s playing a role in why the Giants are where they are at. They weren’t too loyal to Gettleman? Him blowing every pick in 2021 is a big reason why the Giants are where they’re at, he should have never been given the chance. They haven’t been too loyal to Daniel Jones?
The Knicks, the worst run team since the late 90s, has 5 more playoff appearances over the last 30 years, and 3 more since the Giants last won a Super Bowl. That’s where the Giants are right now.
No coach in history has survived missing the playoffs six out of seven years. None. The only coaches in modern history who have kept their jobs after missing the playoffs 4 straight years are Norv Turner and Jason Garrett.
And I know djm will disagree, but Coughlin's game management in 2015 was bad. All the data on the team indicated that they should've finished 8-8. That would've probably bought TC another season.
Yea well we still have never recovered. And that 2015 team was still the best offense we have seen here since and despite fielding the shittiest defense in the entire league that team was in nearly every game.
I wish we had Coughlin 2016. Call me crazy I would bet both nuts that 2016 team does better with a real HC at the helm.
IT's done so this is pointless. Just don't tell me the Giants are too fucking loyal all because of Daniel Jones. Enough already.

Sorry, not history, since 1980.

You're wrong on this one. You came on a thread that had nothing to do with your obsessive horse shit and bitched. And now you're insisting that firing 2 GMS and FOUR, count them....FOUR head coaches in UNDER TEN YEARS, as too loyal.
Just find another thread.
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones
Should have fired him, Cut him. Traded him. Never drafted him. NEver signed him long term. Over paid. OVER PAID!!!!
Happy now? EVen though it has nothing to do with the OP. Good.
Instead by refusing to invest in the QB position after drafting Jones, they left Judge with the situation that ultimately got him fired. If they had Tyrod when Jones got hurt that year, Judge probably doesn’t get fired.

And the first thing Judge did after he was fired was gush about how tough Jones was.
Whatever he's doing in that building, it's worked across multiple regimes now. I don't think it's neccessarily Mara.

The Eagles "almost" won it last year lol.
Funny how the BBI fan police throw that word around as casually as they like but if you ever apply the word "almost" to anything the Giants do you are a blind loyalist pollyanna.

I’m not wrong. You don’t have to engage.
And what’s my horse shit? That the Giants have sucked for 13 years? That gloating about the Cowboys and Eagles not winning the Super Bowl after making the playoffs is stupid?
Just like you have opinions, other people have options. Why you get so mad about it is wild to me.
