Another year without the Cowboys or Eagles winning

Chris684 : 2/11/2024 11:18 pm
And while we have been stuck in a rather dark period for better than 10 years now, we’ve lost almost no ground on them in the big picture as a franchise.

Cowboys haven’t even sniffed a Super Bowl since the mid-90s and we still stand to tie them up with 5 when we win our next.

The 2017 Eagles really hurt in that the trophy case is no longer empty, but I’ll still take our 4 to their 1.

And yes, considering the odds are always with the field, it’s important to recognize stuff like this at the end of the season. If we can just get our shit together we’ll be ok.

Is such a loser mentality. The Eagles have won one more recently, and almost won last year. The Cowboys are in the playoffs more often than not.

The Knicks, the worst run team since the late 90s, has 5 more playoff appearances over the last 30 years, and 3 more since the Giants last won a Super Bowl. That’s where the Giants are right now.

The Eagles "almost" won it last year lol.

Funny how the BBI fan police throw that word around as casually as they like but if you ever apply the word "almost" to anything the Giants do you are a blind loyalist pollyanna.

What have the Giants almost done the last 13 years? The Eagles were leading in the 4th quarter. I think almost applied to that. What would you call it?

You seem incapable of separating a fan from someone who actually has clout within the Giants organization. But I'd expect anyone who actually likes the Giants to share that sentiment right around 11:30 EST last night, except you obviously.

I am a random fan on a message board posting that I'm happy that at the end of another season, both the Cowboys and Eagles were championship-less again. It wasn't even a gloat as I stated we've been in a dark period.

This seems like a you problem, not a me problem.

You're wrong on this one. You came on a thread that had nothing to do with your obsessive horse shit and bitched. And now you're insisting that firing 2 GMS and FOUR, count them....FOUR head coaches in UNDER TEN YEARS, as too loyal.

Just find another thread.

I’m not wrong. You don’t have to engage.

And what’s my horse shit? That the Giants have sucked for 13 years? That gloating about the Cowboys and Eagles not winning the Super Bowl after making the playoffs is stupid?

Just like you have opinions, other people have options. Why you get so mad about it is wild to me.

You're making points that aren't pertinent to this thread or what I said earlier. You came on a thread that merely showed relief that our rivals caved in January and started talking about too much loyalty and now you're spinning off into how much NYG have sucked. Everyone knows that and again, not pertinent at all to the OP or my counter point that Mara has fired everyone over and over again. It's not loyalty issues. It's bad drafts.

And every point you make is rooted in DJ. You can't let one thread go, even one that has nothing to do with Jones.

I know you're mad. I know you want better play. We all do. I empathize with every NYG fan. I will leave it at that. Common ground.

You may want to reread the thread because you brought up loyalty and I responded to it.

I mentioned Jones has one name of several the Giants have been too loyal to and has put them in the predicament they are in, you seem to only want to focus on that name.
If a Giants player said

“Well at least the Eagles or Cowboys didn’t win” we’d be running them out of town.

Set your bar higher, and the team will begin to do the same. They see the complacency, and mirror it.

Sounds like you're over-valuing the impact of yourself as a fan.

Really weird performance by you on this thread.

I don’t TC was ‘unfairly’ bounced after 15. The only thing unfair about that was that Reese wasn’t shown the door either.

No coach in history has survived missing the playoffs six out of seven years. None. The only coaches in modern history who have kept their jobs after missing the playoffs 4 straight years are Norv Turner and Jason Garrett.

And I know djm will disagree, but Coughlin's game management in 2015 was bad. All the data on the team indicated that they should've finished 8-8. That would've probably bought TC another season.
Yeah, the guy coached two different teams to 4 conference championship games and two Super Bowls but his "game management", whatever that is supposed to be, was "bad" because some sportswriter who never coached a youth football team had a better, sure fire idea. And incredibly, we have ownership that listens to this stupid shit.

We've done so much better with his 4 successors, and that assumes #4 makes it which is 50-50 right now.

The same tub thumpers were trying that with Tomlin this season only the Rooneys aren't morons and didn't pay any attention to it.
The fans have a great impact on the Giants decisions

Lol. Dude. That 2015 team was garbage outside of OBJ and Eli Manning. Take a look at that roster and get back to me, how anyone could've made that crop of losers a winning team is beyond me.

There was a game where Eli threw 6 touchdowns and they still lost. Why? Because Drew Brees threw for 7.

Wrong. Rivalries are fun in sports.

Be glad those teams are out. Even though the Giants were eliminated by the Eagles last year in the playoffs, it was hilarious to watch them and their scumbag fans have to watch it unfold in the SB.

They'd do the same.

What's with the weirdo hipster thing these days and not being joyful your team's rivals were bumped out of the playoffs? Can we please have SOME normalcy?

They had a top 5 offense and a bottom 5 defense. That evens out to 8-8. They had a very good QB in the last year of his prime, the best WR in the league, and a functional Oline (best post-2013). That's all it takes 90 percent of the time for a great offense; the Giants just assume it's much more complicated because they can't acknowledge that they've failed to get all three of the above in the Jones era (QB most of all).

Bad end-of-game management cost them against the Cowboys and Patriots, it was widely acknowledge by nearly everyone at the time. There was a ton of other stuff, but what stood out to be was TC not going for it on 4th down in 2nd half on three separate occassions between the Eagles 35-40 yard line despite playing at home with a top-5 offense...during a season (and career) finale.

My opinion is that everything post 2012 has sucked and there's no alternate history where Eli/TC lift their 3rd Lombardi trophy together. Just because this current era sucks doesn't mean the Giants made a mistake moving on from any of Coughlin, Eli, or Reese. Reese declined first, followed by Coughlin, followed by Eli. It was over after Hurricane Sandy, and the Giants were just the last to realize it.
Eagles Hatred

Having lived in the Philadelphia area, I've never understood the hatred directed against the Eagles on this board. In Philly, the hatred is universally directed against the Cowboys, very little against the Giants.

In fact, several Eagles fans that I've known have offered grudging admiration of Eli, Coughlin, Bavaro, and other NY Giants.
