I've come to appreciate Tom Brady much more since his retirement. The ease and poise while winning and playing at an extremely high level was impressive, which has also made me appreciate Eli's wins against him even more :)
I agree with you on the first three. For spot number four, I'd personally give Peyton the edge over Marino, simply because he led two different franchises to Superbowl victories.
It is amazing how many forget how gifted Elway is. He very much like Mahomes with probably a better arm. And Elway dragged three of those Broncos teams to Super Bowls despite talent deficits.
as anyone listed here, but man, Kurt Warner's Rams years were spectacular to witness and I'll never forget that 99 season in particular. That guy was just tossing beautiful passes all over the field and was impossible to stop.
RE: Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Montana, Daniel Jones
Marino not winning a championship disqualifies him. It comes down to Peyton v Rodgers for me. I currently give the edge Peyton but if Rodgers can win a Lombardi with the Jets, he would eclipse Peyton.
I wanted to include Brees, but he was edged out by Peyton as the 4th member. I know that coming off his 3rd Super Bowl victory, Mahomes seems like a given, but I just don't see it with him. Too many bad games, too many stretches where he looks no better than mediocre. And he wasn't especially impressive in yesterday's Super Bowl. It was a game decided by miscues, not great plays. The Chiefs won because the Niners had more bad plays than them, not because the Chiefs had more good plays.
Don't get me wrong, he's an excellent QB and probably the best QB currently playing, but I don't see him as belonging on the same shelf as the four plus one I named above.
Brady, Montana, Elway....and Mahomes is catching up fast
I did it based on who I'd want to pick if I were starting a franchise, and I while I think Mahomes is a terrific player, I struggle to put him over Elway. It's really a pick 'em though.

Surprised you leave out Elway. Getting the Broncos to five Super Bowls was incredible, especially the first three. Those first three teams were not that talented and rode the incredible talents and drive of Elway.
For me, I think of which QB had the "fear factor" as in "Oh crap were facing XYZ as this week's QB. How are we going to try to stop or limit damage from him". I'm trying to decide among Montana, Rodgers and Staubach. Many will say, "What about Brady?". Based on my "fear factor" criteria, I never felt that way when the Giants were facing the Patriots. It was "crap, we've facing a Belichick coach team, a loaded roster etc." Brady was among the concerns, but never the highest "fear factor".
Brady was a great, future HOF QB based on all his rings and his longevity. Bill Russell was a great Center and deserving of the HOF based on all his rings. But Russell is never in the conversation as GOAT. Neither should Brady.
Tough to decide i could only imagine what montana numbers wouuld look like in the modern NFL the same in reverse mohomes does not survive in 70/80/90s football. I will go with Brady, montana, Elway, Payton and Mohomes
Obviously a subjective list. Just my opinion of course. I've seen every Super Bowl but I didn't see Unitas at his peak. So I'm going to leave him off because I'm going to only choose players I've seen at their peak.
Even though he's now won 3 Super Bowls I'm going to grade Mahomes as incomplete. I think he trending to be one of the 4 for sure but I'll wait a few years before crowning him.
Taking era's and post season into consideration this is my top 4 in no particular order.
So my Mt. Rushmore of QB's goes back pretty far. Y.A. Tittle-Bart Starr-Johnny Unitas-Dawson-Bradshaw-Griese-Theismann-Simms-Marino were some pretty damn good QB's!
Rings are the thing and it's also how you play in the big games Bradshaw won 4 and put up some damn good SB #'s in an era where there was a lot less passing and you didn't like up yds with the short stuff. Elway is up there for winning those 2 at the end but with 4 rings you can't keep Terry off.
The Rules have Changed so much for the QB & Offense. Look at Bradshaw, when he played people ended up in wheel chairs. Look at the 2 hits that the Giants laid on Montana. Now you would go to jail...Marino way have had a million yards if he played...

They’ve changed for everyone else too - why aren’t they winning more? Do you really think Mahomes couldn’t play in the 90s? Come on.
Montana, Elway, Brady and Mahomes.

Haha. The sad thing is that he probably thinks that.

Even at 38 or however old he was, he was flicking 60 yard bombs in pregames like it was nothing.
