I want a dominant Dline again!

Giantimistic : 2/12/2024 4:52 pm
Watching the playoffs and the Super Bowl I am reminded of what it was like to have a dominant dline and think it’s essential to be competitive and to win. San Fran had a great shot of winning because of their dline. The chiefs dline altered several big play possibilities.

The Giants of 2007 showed that where the game is, you need to get to the QB quickly and get in their face right away. If you do that you can beat even the greatest offense ever.

You can never have enough pass rushers which is so true. It got us the last 2 superbowls and our first 2, had the greatest rush linebacker ever.

We have Dex which is as good as it gets for that one position, Thibs I do think is a piece. Ojulari has flashed but can’t stay healthy.

I have been playing the game of getting the QB if they live one and if not getting a top WR.

Now, after watching the Super Bowl, unless we get a QB that is great—then I want the best pash rusher in the draft. Let’s build off of Dex. The 80s and 90s Giants were linebacker driven. The next run was dline driven.

I want Dline- only way you are going to beat any of the Great QBs in the game today.

Can't disagree.....but

It's the player...not the position

For those people that want a QB...

For those people that want an OL...

Or a DL.....@6.

Whoever the Giants draft....must be great player

A potential HOFer!

I was thinking about it today and I think Dexter Lawrence would be the only player on our entire roster that would start in San Francisco.

When you are talking about Kansas City you can maybe add Okereke.

This team is so far away from even being competitive. And it's not trending in the right direction.
If we don’t draft a QB

I want a pass rusher with our first pick. Get back to the days where we had 5-6 guys that could get to the QB. This is how we get good again.
You're not wrong. In fact we need BOTH D-Line

and more playmakers. The key to this year's draft is the playmaking WR's have a significantly better grade than the pass rushers at six. Got to take the best available athlete when you need both.
Both teams had excelent oline's, the Giants must fix that problem

now. Draft the best olineman available then look towards fixing the dline and wr's. There are a lot of good players in the draft, there always is, so try to grab 4 or 5 that can come in and start and change the whole team into a winner.
Pass rush is as important to the Defense

as the QB is to the offense. Under pressure Mahones threw one bad pick and almost another even worse one.

Pass rush. Only way to neutralize a great quarterback.

Lawrence, Thibodeaux, Okereke, X, Banks are would make most rosters and even start on many.

Adore Jackson with only 3 flags with one PI this season will play for someone. But with his missed games and missed tackles probably won't play for the Giants.

McFadden must cut down on missed tackles, promising.

Add two pass rushers.

I think we need to rely on coaching for the oline. They have put enough high picks there. They need to perform. Sign a veteran guard and swing tackle. Draft dline. Take some oline later if the value is there in the draft.

Draft dline in first and second round.
Our biggest problem for ten years has been the o line
kelly : 2/12/2024 9:40 pm : link
The draft is deep in o line. draft into that strength.

If coaching was the answer why have all the o line coaches failed over the past ten years? We lack talent. Just because we spent draft picks on the o line does not mean we drafted the right players, in fact we did a horrible job drafting o linemen.

Time to turn it around and draft an o linemen at 6 and also one of the 2 nd round picks. We cannot go into next year assuming anew o line coach is going to turn chicken shit into chicken soup.
kelly- right!!
Dave on the UWS : 2/13/2024 11:37 am : link
so why would you think throwing more resources at OL would work better this time?
I've maintained for a long time its coaching. Too often, guys are being asked to do things they can't and what's worse, are being taught new techniques before refining existing ones to an NFL competent level.
The whole philosophy regarding OL has been poor for a decade.
I wouldn't mind a CB

Like McDuffie either, he really showed his impact in the playoffs this year.
