Igor had his mojo back tonight; glove hand was, at long last again, a serpent's tongue snatching pucks out of the air, too often, as CAL had better of play in 2nd and 3rd. Markstrom, NHL's best goalie Sv. %, was the challenge along with a Flames' team on a 4-game win streak, that Igor stepped up to meet and throttle. Kept good track and positioning of pucks bouncing around the crease, where he has struggled the last couple months. Markstrom was excellent, stoned everything the Rangers threw at him, Cuylle's goal being on a scrum following a KK rush.
Laviolette had praise for all lines he was asked about. There were no questions about the "first" line...because they were invisible. They did break out on a two-on-one and Zib cross-iced a nice pass to #20, with a good angle and no one but GK in front of him; he whiffed.
Bread was revved, very feisty along the boards and drew 2mins for roughing, looked like he was going to drop the gloves.
Vesey's EN goal was an "empty netter" in name only: with time winding down and the game still in the balance, Flames' d-man (Tanev or Hanifin ?) wheeled back in his own end to corral a Rangers' clear, took it between the circles and Vesey was able to extend all he had and poke check the puck loose, gathered it and ended the suspense. He has been so good late.
Just got MSG+ a week or two ago and watched Calgary against the Devils and the Islanders and they're a tough team. They score goals quickly and can "press" (or whatever) very quickly. Rangers snapped their 4 game winning streak which comprised of beating Boston.

I still love his goal against the Devils in NJ earlier this year lol
Calgary was playing really well heading into last night. More bottom six production that leads to a win as well. Hopefully this puts Igor back on track.
Never thought it would take until February for Shesterkin's first shutout, but hopefully it's the first of many to come. I've been talking up this third line, and they continue to play very well, as they now have a goal in 5 of their last 6 games.
Pitlick was placed on waivers today, presumably indicating that for the foreseeable future, Edstrom will be in the lineup. I wonder if we will get a look at some guys like Sykora or Berard in the near future. Rempe was sent back to Hartford, but he may get a shot soon as well.
Pitlick is a dime-a-dozen player, so I'm not torn up about it.
Really need to get their mojo back on the power play. It is powerless.
Third line clicking now.

Their goalie is pretty good, too. Impressive win.

If the Devils get in....all bets are off

They're 23-7-2 with Kakko in the lineup, 11-9-1 without him.
Be careful what you wish for.

I think he'll be used as bait to get a top-6 RW.
I know the Hockey News floated out Kakko to Buffalo for Mittelstadt.

I'm very anti-trading Kakko.
