he could be a relatively cheap option as backup. He had a decent rookie year with McDaniels as OC. Maybe Daboll/Kafka/Tierney can get get the Belichick/Patricia/Judge funk out of his head?
I'd rather a Tyrod type again for pure backup. Vet who knows his role, unlikely to complain about riding the pine but will be as ready as can be if needed
Jones, Trubisky or any of the other under 30 vets would instantly be the most popular players on the team should Jones faceplant again. No way is the Jones faction in the front office isn't going to let that happen.
and I still cannot let go of the time when 1000s of people insisted this guy was good simply because he walked out on draft day with a swagger. Yea ok.
If you watched him and Zappe tank that game against a bad Giants team, why are you talking about Mac Jones?
No way you watched that game or any of the Pats games and said to yourself, 'Nope, everyone else is wrong, including little Bill, and that's the guy.' They couldn't wait to bench that guy on an even worse Pats team but he's the answer to what question on a bad Giants team?
is to actually upgrade positions, including QB. Mac does nothing in this regard. Shoving three backup QBs out there does nothing to improve the Giants.
all 3 of our QBs were better this year. Plus, he has a reputation as a baby who is hard to work with. Id be shocked if we were the least bit interested.
While I agree with most of the posters, let us remember the Patriots have ZERO WRs. So yeah Mac Jones doesn't move the needle as a starter, but as backup with some pretty decent WRs he might be ok. At least he won't break every time a defender runs past him. Yes, TT is a better QB, but he'll want $5 mill. Bet Mac Jones will go for less than $2 mill.
We need a competent backup. Cheap means nothing if he can't play. I think most would agree DeVito isn't a viable primary backup and I also think most would take him over Mac Jones, at this point.
End up a Giant but would not be surprised because this franchise is in a free fall of bad decisions one after another and Mac Jones would be the kind of move this franchise would make.
How about Mike Jones?
lol
I watched that movie recently. A classic. So many great performances.
Not sure what happened but coaching may have been part of the reason.
If he came cheap maybe he is a possibility. I mean look at Geno Smith.

is he available?

There's been a bunch of "Good first-year" QBs.
Once the tape is out on them, teams adjust.

Actually Mac Davis played a lot like Mac Jones, game manager to the end.
Might as well just keep the Tyrod.
The going rate is 40 mil for torching Minnesota, plus a half against Arizona
We have Mac Jones at home

He did play QB in North Dallas Forty.

I haven’t seen it in years, definitely overdue for a rewatch.
Guy had a noodle arm, can't move, and his decision making almost makes our Jones look like Joe Montana.
Again, if the Pats do move on from him, give them credit for realizing this colossal mistake and beginning the process of finding a real QB.
Mac Jones performed like what the 262nd pick of the draft should perform like.....
And he seems to be regressing.
I'd rather ride with Devito
Bring in other Carr with him. With those Mickey Mouse ears, baby! Let Saquon walk and put Lydell Mitchell back there.
Mitchell isn’t mentioned enough, as an old-timey really good RB.
