I mean how does he not see it? He’s blown through three coaches, has never led the league in anything passing related, had one winning season in 6 years and is injury prone. His greatest season as a passer was his rookie year and even that is overblown. The guy had 3 huge games against three terrible teams the Lions, Jets and Redskins at the time. Aside of that the guy is a pedestrian check down QB who rarely throws deep with success, rarely throws for 300 years and defenses key on this in every game daring him to throw. This is a passing league, and he is not a very good passer. He also struggles with reads still. His ineptitude was even made clearer by Taylor and Devitos ability to push the ball down field. I just don’t see what can be unlocked in Jones. He’s our version of Trent Dilfer without a Super Bowl ring but then again that may be giving this guy way too much credit. I just cannot believe that in a crucial 3rd season for a coach and GM that they are going to hitch their wagon to this guy, coming off an ACL injury and whose had little success in this league. Despite what some people on this board say, this guy isn’t elite, has never sniffed elite and will never be a top 10 QB in this league. If Schoen and Daboll want to fall on a sword for Mara’s love affair with this guy, then they better get their resumes ready because 2024 is going to lead to both of them at the unemployment line and Mara looking like the idiot he’s been the almost last decade and a half.
Here we go again.
Umm, that is your OPINION man!!

Jones against Vikings, Wildcard round - ( New Window )
I only saw one play where Jones didn't take off running when his first read wasn't there. And that was the throw to Hodgins when Jones started to take off running when his first read wasn't open but then Hodgins was right where Jones was going to run to.
You’re starting to remind me of Japanese holdouts after the end of WWII.

Maybe the better question is how can you improve the team and be competitive without having a high level qb.

Ooops... hit the submit button too fast.
One of my favorite Beatles' song. Every time I see your handle, it looks like the title of this song!
This guy sucks right?
Does he suck? - ( New Window )
Mac Jones also demolished the 2022 Vikings D. Does he not suck?

Had a better game as a passer too
Door swings both ways. It's exhausting.
They are not going to announce it to the world or tip their hand to satisfy the posters on BBI.
Let this play out. At this point, it's just piling on, isn't helpful and just boring.

What about this guy? Surely because these guys won wildcard games, they are franchise QBs right?

I think Mike White threw for 400 yards against the Minnesota Swiss Cheese.
Is it more important because it is the playoffs? How did he do against the Eagles the week after?
I'm sure you are a nice guy, but your posts about Daniel Jones are so desperately emotional they just can't be taken seriously as football opinions.
And to the OP - the vast majority of people are where you are. We don't need more "Jones isn't very good" threads.
Bears should learn from Giants’ Daniel Jones mistake in Justin Fields decision: Kurt Warner - ( New Window )
Jones has had that fumbles-too-much moniker because of his first season. Those gimble numbers have dipped since his second season.
Yet Fields has 38 fumbles in 38 games and no one cares. His inconsistencies is too much to ignore especially with having good talent around him like DJ Moore and Cole Kmet. I've still seen posters in here who would welcome him in NY.
It's a very smart point by Warner.
However, Fields is more talented than Jones. If someone can get his mind right - and that's a big if - the sky might be the limit. The DJFC like to say how bad the surroundings have been for Jones. But I would argue the Bears have been even worse for Fields. At least Jones has had the benefit of a few good offensive minds...
Mirror mirror on the wall
I want to say ryan was staking a position last year that he would take Jones over LJax. Zero hesitation.
I want to say Allen, too. But I may be getting him mixed up with a fellow zealot in the DJFC.
But it’s everyone else who has issues with differing opinions.
Do you count the Vikings wildcard game as our 5th Super Bowl ? I'm thinking yes

Just ask his coach Daniel Jones sucks - ( New Window )
That was the moment I lost all faith in DJ and started looking at qb prospects. We will get one of the top 4 qbs this year
I have never seen a player get so much mileage out of a performance vs. a horrific defense.
He sure does. Get a clue.
When your opinion is shit and based on straw man arguments to back it up, you deserve the ridicule.
Jones will be better than almost any free agent QB that the Giants can afford (based on the cap), and it's foolish to throw a rookie QB into the fire. The best case scenario is that we draft a QB, and Jones gets "Kurt Warnered" halfway through the season (either from injury or lousy play). That would allow the rookie to get his feet wet and Daboll to prepare him.
We all know what Jones is after all his time here, and so does Mara, the Giants FO, and the Coaches (even though they won't express it in public for OBVIOUS reasons!!!). The key here is to have a proper plan in place to replace him.

Right.. if we have no guts or vision this is what will happen. Thanks for your *real* take.
