Randle “update”
bluefin : 2/20/2024 12:40 pm : link
not much, but it’s not bad:
“ Doctors have to clear Randle to play before he can compete in a practice, let alone a game. There is growing optimism inside the Knicks that a Randle return will come with time remaining in the regular season. ”

The regular season ends April 14, I believe. It would be great to have everyone back for the last month of the regular season. Fingers crossed ... we looked so great in January.

nice. me neither.
F*ck Kevin Durant
KayvonOjulari515 : 2/20/2024 5:03 pm : link
He didn't have the balls or the fortitude to play for the Knicks. He cop'd out and went to the Nets and bounced as soon as things got tough. Kevin Durant ain't built for New York.

I could be wrong but I think he's said this before.

Either way, once the Nets became open to letting him and Kyrie play player-GM it wasn't happening.
Best thing to happen was Durant & Kyrie spurned the Knicks
Larry in Pencilvania : 2/20/2024 5:16 pm : link
While we were all annoyed and embarrassed, it led to the team we have, the culture established and desire to win. None of that happens with Durant, Kyrie, Harden and Simmons.

Yeah there’s been stories out there that Durant actually wanted for him and Kyrie to team up for the Knicks but Kyrie was eventually able to convince him to go to the Nets instead because it was his childhood dream.
The way that played out for the Nets is still so hilarious.

Once they made the Harden trade I thought they were a lock for a couple of championships.

Thibodeau said Randle and Anunoby were on track - Anunoby doing cardio and left-handed basketball work. Sounds like neither will be back this week. But DDV, Bogey and Hartenstein all should be ready for Philadelphia Thursday

and he basically admitted to trolling the Knicks brand, but said that the team wasn't ready or fun when he was considering going there.

Honestly, idc anymore, but we should start giving Julius Randle and Brunson that treatment. They chose to sign here, and I'm sure a lot of other factors went into those decisions, but they chose NY and then evolved their games to be all-NBA players. No need to do what ifs with Durant.

It says a lot about him that he didn’t see himself as someone capable of turning things around.

I’ve always appreciated guys like Stoudemire, and Randle who didn’t shy away from that challenge but instead embraced it. And now Brunson has taken the team to another level entirely. He had guts and confidence, Durrant just wanted a joy ride to a ring
Things turned around when the Knicks
bceagle05 : 2/21/2024 1:01 pm : link
finally gave up on chasing after saviors and went about the business of building something step by step. It's been so rewarding, and I hope they don't have to completely sell their souls like Brooklyn did to try to get to the top.

The irony is that's what the Nets were lauded for pre big 3 era and what the media cited as a reason why they chose the Nets over the Knicks. Just a few years later and the Nets are the ones doing what that the Knicks were for 20 years.
KD even said he didnt realize
nygiants16 : 2/21/2024 1:15 pm : link
how much the Knicks ran NY, as delusional as it sounds he believed if him and Kyroe were in BKN they would become the IT team in NY..

I also think when he tore his achilles he couldnt recruit anybody to go with him so hr had to folllw

Sounds like they won’t really know until he’s back practicing with the team, full physicality, seeing what it feels like to have his arm hit, battling for rebounds etc

They are going to have to harness it...The mental side is going to be the biggest thing, is he going to be hesitant to lower that shoulder
Bojan and Hartenstein are probable

should be enough to get the team back on the right track. Not enough to beat Boston, but enough to beat Philly.
As far as Randle goes

what he said about surgery was about offseason surgery. He's going to be back on the court for the Knicks this season.

They God it was the non shooting shoulder. It might just be a pain threshold thing for him.
Prediction based on what has been said past couple of days
nygiants16 : 2/21/2024 7:14 pm : link
OG returns first between March 3rd-8th

mitch returns next around march 20th

Randle returns end of March early April
I’d stall as long as possible on Randle.

so now Knicks have a two way open
So two scrubs
Anakim : 2/22/2024 9:56 am : link
Coolio. Given the health status of this team, it's not unheard of for these guys to see significant minutes. Hell, Toppin already has seen way more minutes than he deserves.

And seriously, Taj is cooked.

I think it shows they trust that OG and Randle will be back sooner than later..

Also with Hartenstein, Bojan and DDV back the team is a much healthier 9 man rotation
not sure what non scrubs you were hoping for lol
Heisenberg : 2/22/2024 9:59 am : link
At least these two have been with the Knicks since training camp and know what's up. Whoever was gonna get signed was only gonna play if we were up 20 with 3 minutes left or down 20 with three minutes left.

Dude, at this point, I would even take Marcus Morris back. Ha

But nah, I'd love to take a roll of the dice on Killian Hayes.

I'm still pissed that I spent $500+ to go see Doncic play against a bunch of scrubs.

Killian Hayes stinks. Daquan Jefferies is better lol.
Anakim they were never signing a vet
Larry in Pencilvania : 2/22/2024 10:18 am : link
No vet would sign up to just sit on the end of the bench. These moves serve two masters. First the CBA requires a minimum number of players signed to a regular contracts. They had to meet the minimum by today. Second they are trying to steer clear of the second apron so these deals cost very little. They don't want to start the clock with the tax
