game like this. You can tell that both teams weren't playing to their full abilities due to the ice and elements.
I love the concept of the outdoor games, but it makes for some pretty dreadful hockey. Everyone looks like they're skating in quicksand, the puck bounces all over the place and you can't even get an outlet pass out.
Right now in that lockeroom. Btw great creativity by ABC using the exact same Tommy Cutlets open for both games this weekend involving completely different teams. Maybe they can break it out for the Columbus outdoor game next year too.

Devito is milking his 15 minutes for all its worth. I can’t hate it.

Everything other than the actual game was really stupid. Intermission shows, promotion, etc.

What the heck was with those actors wandering around the fake park in between the rink and the stands? They were there most of the game and just pretended to be exercising, walking their dog, or pushing a stroller just a really surreal vibe to it.

Lol, I have no idea. It was so dumb.
This years Islanders feel so much like the 2015 Giants
with all the late blown leads, yesterday was their 14th blown multi-goal lead, they are 5-1-8 in those games.
It's been beyond frustrating. Their 70% PK isn't helping matters any either.
Of the Rangers fans on those last three goals echoing throughout the stadium....just chills. One of the best fan bases in any sport. Great comeback, Lavy with the gutsy call to pull Igor on the PP. Being 6 on 4 allowed them to maintain the zone pressure and possession they needed.
how was the game viewing experience? I have been to a couple outdoor games and they were both awful for actually watching hockey. frozen fenway the worst (plus it was minus 20 degrees with wind chill) but the site lines were awful in a baseball stadium and the ice surface seemed so far away.
Gillette too.
How was MetLife to watch the game - I found the lower seats to be worse than upper seats (both Gillette and Fenway).
Found myself watching the game more on the jumbotron/video board than the ice.
I thought the view was way better than I thought it would be. More so went for the experience than the game itself but was surprised by how well I could see everything.
One thing I did notice was how slow to react to goals everyone was compared to regular arena games. Sometimes I'm so surprised how quickly (and quicker than I do) some fans react to goals being scored. If, usually, I'm at one end of the ice I have to rely more on the crowds reaction than seeing if a goal is scored or not to be honest.
In the stadium game, I was out of the first people out of my seat after a goal. Maybe with the tighter arena is more of a distraction for me and I had my attention on the game more with more open space surrounding the ice?
I sat 104 Row 41, which is that corner endzone the Giants run out. I usually sit there for football games. Crowd after OT goal - ( New Window )
Also, for Giants games. When they were good in 2016 and people actually wanted tickets, I'd always spend (not much) more to sit lower because the upper level in MetLife is so far away and a terrible view in my opinion.
If I find my way to an irrelevant game (like last year's finale vs Philly), I will pay $5 and just move down lol

It was good. I went to the two at Yankee Stadium and the one at Citifield and this was the best of the four. At Citi, I bought lower level seats so I couldn't see the puck until I moved up ten rows (and it still sucked). I was able to move because it was freezing and everyone hid.
I was in 250B, behind the goal. I saw everything except when the puck went behind the net. I sat too low by first few times going, but it sounds like the lower level was better than at the baseball stadium.

one of the sporting highlights of my life. I had tickets in 208, within that ticket-only-mezannine-concourse section. I had zero clue that existed, which is sort of embarrassing since I've had season tickets in 131 since Metlife opened. Those seats are pretty awesome though, I will say!
Unfortunately though, we were on the far side from the ice, so it was a little tougher to see the game than the other side.
I lament over not really being able to afford tix for me and my 2 boys at MSG for a regular season game, so I didn't even bother looking into this one.

I paid $200 (after fees) for my seats in the 200s, you could get in for like $90-100 in the upper deck.

You should get the game time app if you have flexible scheduling and can get to MSG quickly. Obviously I have no idea what you consider affordable, but I got tickets for the Red Wings game on a Tuesday night back in November (?) for $110 I think (with all fees per ticket) and they were lower level - we got 4 together, they had upper level for $60 or so each.
I was staying at a hotel in Hudson Yards, so I could make a quick decision like that. Not sure if your situation allows that, but you can track the pricing in the app.
Did they play Islanders goal song when they scored?
It was an Islanders home game and they played both teams goal songs when the relevant team scored.
Fun fact: the Rangers are the visiting team for all of these outdoor games, because if they or the Knicks play a home game outside of MSG, then Jimmy Dolan loses a property tax exemption, which is something like $40 million per year at this point.
Yeah they played the Rangers goal song. It was like the Super Bowl? Where one team is technically the home team but you'll hear away fight songs being played and both endzones are painted with different teams.
They put up pro-Rangers facts on the screen like that they were 4-0 in outdoor games. You never see a home teams stadium or arena say anything positive about the road team with statistics, at least not that I can recall.
who still gets pissed off about the handshake line after these outdoor games?
Handshake line should never happen for a regular season game. It should only happen after a playoff series.
You get pissed off about that?
Yes, I get its a weird thing to get pissed off about, but I love the playoff series handshake line after the series is over. I dont understand why they do it for outdoor games in the regular season. Why don't they treat it like a regular season game at MSG? Its dumb

May as well make it an exhibition and take a polaroid together like Rocky and Thunderlips.
I didn't notice a handshake line. Weird they did that.
lost in the hype. As an Islanders fan, I felt gutted by blowing a three goal lead and losing in OT, but it was just one regular season game at the end of the day. It felt like something special, which it is to some extant, but means just as much in the standings.
And TBH I'm not a good fan, I care way more about the Giants, Mets, and University of Maryland.
I guess someone had that ready a bit too far in advance. LOL!!!!!
I figured you were doing a Gozer the Gozerian kind of thing :)
Great comeback! The Rangers remain perfect outdoors.

Haha, Dewey Defeats Truman!

I thought it was the crowd singing the Rangers goal song. Rangers and Bruins goals songs are so f-ing obnoxious.

Kakko has 6 points in his last 8 games. Really hoping they don't trade him.
