JJ interviewed him Super Bowl week for his NY NY podcast & the pod dropped this morning. This quote cracked me up in how highly Justin thinks of the man staring back at him in the mirror:
'I told Joe Schoen that if I leave, the fans are going to go crazy...'
Justin, my dude, nobody-NOBODY-was going crazy if you left. You're not Anthony Munoz or John Hannah. We sucked this season before you jumped aboard & we still sucked after you joined the team. Also, your performance vs. NOLA was beyond atrocious, though-to Pugh's credit-he acknowledges he had a rough game vs. the Saints.
That aside, my eyebrows were raised when-after praising Dabs' offensive mind-he said something-& I'm paraphrasing-how Dabs had to get the offense corrected before going back to the CEO role of HC. Perhaps I'm reading into too much, but it seems like Pugh implied that Dabs got pretty heavily involved in the offense down the stretch, which lends credence to what Connor Hughes said the other day on that BBI thread.
Also, his 'I love the media' quote...LOL. I know people have been speculating for years that he's one of those anonymous sources when stories leak out. That quote doesn't exactly dampen the idea of him as a 'locker room lawyer'.
While I think he is def an asshole, je was serviceable at times when we were beleaguered on our OL and he came off the couch. As a back up utility OL, you could do a lot worse.
However, I draw the line at the lockerroom lawyer shit. We still dont have a bonafide leader on that unit (hopefully AT is ready to assume it at this point) so that shit goes unchecked.
He really did stabilize the left side of the line for a few games. But no, even at vet minimum, he would be overpaid.
That probably is what Conor Hughes was talking about - Dabs getting more involved in the offense - so basically taking over for Kafka while doing so.
He weighs less than 300 lbs and his lack of strength is obvious.
It's time to get very strong in the trenches, and that does not include JP. He's a smart guy, but the Giants need to get younger and more dynamic players at the position.
Best of luck Justin!

I will go crazy if he isn't let go. I don't even think he has much value as a regular backup. He was only brought in because we were down to 4th string at OG and 3rd string at LT

I don't know what the fascination is with trying to keep so many mediocre to bad players. There's a reason why we fucking sucked and yet people want to keep players that "helped" us suck.
Like they used to say, back-in-the-day - "Oh, Justin, you're such a card, ha-ha"

That should tell you how bad our OL was, but to think he didn't help is wrong. We went from the crappiest line in history to the second crappiest line in history.
How were we better with him? We were just as bad. The OL looked slightly better when Taylor played and when we got Thomas back. Pugh was bad and got worse as the season went on.

How were we better with him? Well he played better at LT when AT was out than what we had. He helped the line from giving up a million sacks to 900,000 sacks. You can tell from stats on time to pressure that after he signed it got better. However, it was still really bad. I didn't say resign him so calm your panties. As previously stated I feel like going into this year we need to get two new OGs and roll with AT, JSM, and Neal.

If you couldn't see, just watch a game and see, that the line was better immediately after he arrived, then you need to find another sport.
He did not make them league average, but at least for a while they picked up stunts. He didn't have enough a$$ to be good against the bull rush, but he was able to get out in front of a run.
Clearly he was an upgrade to what was there. It wasn't much, but it was certainly better.
>cue the crickets soundbite<
He needs to go away. I’ll be furious if he’s anywhere near this team next year. He blows.

Yea I agree. I dont know what Matt was watching, but it was noticeably better
Did you listen to it? If he was, he did a damn good job selling that.

You dont think there is a good chance that he has read what this board has said about him? I think it is foolish to think that even the players dont know about this board by now.
I mean, I paid half assed attention over the years, but it wasn't until the current malaise that I started opening the site every day.
keep wrecking the site.
He gets very defensive over pro athletes. A little ... Too touchy lol
