NFT: Thomas Tuchel leaving Bayern at the end of the season

Big Rick in FL : 2/21/2024 6:11 am
Per BILD and many other sources. They say it was a mutual parting. They're going to go after former player Xabi Alonso as their next manager. Does he stay in the Bundesliga or end up at Liverpool?
If I'm Liverpool, do I really want him?

Sure, you could do worse, but getting a guy who just flopped at Bayern would be so uninspiring.

I'd rather gamble with a rising star like Alonso or De Zerbi, than a descending coach like a Tuchel.

Yeah I don't think Tuchel goes to Liverpool. I was talking about Xabi joining Liverpool.
Tuchel looked totally

Uninvolved in the UCL game last week. Not surprised.
Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid

Per Fabrizio Romano and many other reporters. They say it's basically a done deal. Just working on finishing a couple small details.

⏳⚪️ Kylian Mbappé, finalising details of his move to Real Madrid valid from July 1.

Image rights, huge signing fee… and then the fixed salary to be in line with stars like Vini Jr and Bellingham.
Bayern is a huge club but boy they go through managers like

nobody's business. Liverpool would probably offer a longer leash for Alonso while Bayern might offer more resources.

Has been a disaster everywhere he’s gone since Mainz. He hasn’t lasted more than 3 years at Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea, and now Bayern. He comes in hot, pisses players, fans, and management off, and leaves. At this point, he’s clearly a less successful Mourinho, right?

No dispute that his man management seems poor and he burns out quickly. But he won the champions league at Chelsea, took PSG to the final, and had two good teams at Dortmund. Disaster seems like a bit of an exaggeration.

He may need to take a step back though with his next team. He doesn't appear well suited at the moment to handle to politics and big personalities of the "super clubs"
Xabi Alonso is the hottest coach right now -

he's done a great job with Leverkusen. One of 'Pool or Bayern looks like his next stop.

Agree that Tuchel seems to wear out his welcome pretty quickly wherever he goes.

Fair on disaster being harsh in the way I phrased it…what I intended by that comment was his tenure has ended in disaster (similar to Mourinho).

Also I don’t give the guy any credit for his success with PSG. And perhaps unfair, but I always think of the Chelsea CL title as having a bit of an asterisk because of COVID. That said, I can’t actually remember if the format of the CL was altered or not.

I'm a Chelsea supporter so I'll push back on that haha. It was the same format with two leg knockout stages. There just weren't fans until the final, that had about half capacity. It was as normal as possible.

PSG final the year before had the one leg knockout stages I think for the quarters and semis after the restart in the summer. So maybe a bit of an asterisk there.

But no other manager has gotten PSG to that point. Despite all the flashy spending

I was really disappointed to see Tuchel leave.

As ever, we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors, but the task he was asked to navigate (the forced sale and transition from Abramovic to Boehly) he managed as well publically as anyone could have been asked.

It's a worthwhile question why such a seemingly talented tactician keeps wearing out his welcome, though.
I'm REALLY hoping that

Leverkusen can close out the season on top. Bundesliga really needs it.

I've always liked X. ALONSO and I'm glad he's doing well. Rumor is he has his heart śet on Liverpool. Having bayern after you only helps his bargaining position but i expect to see him at Anfield.

PS: boo to dirty chavs supporters. UTA
Xabi was a wonderful player

He comes off like a really smart guy and I'm glad he's doing well as a manager. And he's still got it...

Him and Mikel Arteta - childhood friends in San Sebastian who grew up with Real Sociedad as their club. Must have been something in the water. Actually, Xabi's father was a very good player himself.
