6. Las Vegas Raiders (via NYG) - Jayden Daniels (QB - LSU)

Christian's Grade: 77.0 (NFL Starter)

Trade details: Las Vegas sends No. 13, No. 44, a 2025 1st, and a 2025 2nd to New York for No. 6 and No. 140.

In this scenario, the Giants loved three quarterbacks who all came off the board. The Raiders hop in front of the Falcons and get their new franchise quarterback, a dynamic athlete with elite rushing ability and deep ball accuracy.

that absolutely could happen

13. New York Giants - JC Latham (OT - Alabama)

Christian's Grade: 81.5 (Quality NFL Starter)

The Giants have gone down this road before, but they're getting the right player this time. Latham has inside-outside versatility and gives the Giants another piece in front of Daniel Jones as they attempt to find their future at the quarterback position.

39. NYG - Edgerrin Cooper (LB - Texas A&M)

44. NYG - Xavier Legette (WR - South Carolina)

47. NYG - Tyler Nubin (S - Minnesota)
there will be more than that if the trade goes down. We will get
gtt350 : 2/21/2024 3:13 pm : link
their 1 and 2 pick this year plus a 1st next year. Schoen with a one and 3 # 2's could have his pick of anyone with another trade or stand pat
Like the trade
Chris684 : 2/21/2024 3:15 pm : link
Don’t love the picks.

I would probably go Latu or Verse at #13

I’d probably consider using 2 of the 2nd rounders to move back into round 1 for Nix.

Best WR available with the remaining 2nd rounder.
Yuck
Mike from Ohio : 2/21/2024 3:17 pm : link
That is a nightmare. Stockpiling resources to go get a QB next year when God knows who might be there, if anyone who we may want?

How about the coaches get something out of the high draft picks they already have on the roster?
The
DG_89 : 2/21/2024 3:22 pm : link
haul? Love it. The 1st rounder? Not so much. We pass up Latu and Verse for Latham? Bama o-linemen in the Saban Era have crashed and burned as pros despite looking all world while they're still in school.

In other observations, this guy has Brian Thomas and Troy Franklin going way higher than I've seen before
I like the idea of a tradeback
Lines of Scrimmage : 2/21/2024 3:27 pm : link
with two stipulations. You are not passing on a franchise QB or going too far back where you are not getting a impact player.

A aggressive trade back if executed well (and with a little luck) can be a franchise changer imv. It just may take a couple years to see the true value.

why would we trade out of the 6th spot
gpat1031 : 2/21/2024 3:30 pm : link
with Daniels sitting there and think that was a good deal?
That would be awful.
At some point you have to pay up to lock in a franchise QB.
If Daniels is sitting there, count your blessing and run to the podium.

ryanmkeane : 2/21/2024 3:35 pm : link
I’d immediately accept that trade.

Troy Franklin seems to be going higher and higher with every mock or prospect ranking I see.

I wouldn't pass on Daniels

unless they love one of the other QBs later.

I'd probably take the FSU Edge instead at 13.

But, overall, I'd be disappointed.

And the Giants will still have no hope for the future because they don't have a single capable QB on the roster.

There were reports (rumors?) that the Giants were interested in Shedeur Sanders before he chose to forego this year's draft. A trade like that would give them the assets to move up and get him next year, but man, that's a long time on a seat that's getting warmer for both Schoen and Daboll.

think if any of Williams, Maye, or Daniels are still available at #4 or #5, there will be a huge bidding war to get them. Someone behind us but in front of the Raiders will trade up with Arizona or San Diego to get whoever remains.

The Giants should reject the trade if they love Daniels, but accept it immediately if they do not.
Hate the picks
Archer : 2/21/2024 5:41 pm : link
I would select Daniels and gamble on his greatness.

Trading down going to 13 takes them beyond an impact player.

However, if this were the trade, then I would take Murphy, Thrice, Leggett, and Suamataia.

Build the lines and a WR.

Memory Lane. Joe Schoen, press conference, March 8, 2023 after re-signing Jones:

Quote:
But again, I knew from doing work on Daniel coming out of the draft, the type of person he was. From everybody in the building, the type of person he was, his work ethic. He has all the physical tools. He's athletic. He can make all the throws. Just the situation he was in, I do think you have to look into that. Year two and three, what he went through. The talent that was around him, the injuries. There's a lot that went into it. But being around Daniel for the last 13 months and seeing him play and the fourth-quarter comebacks and winning a playoff game on the road, there's a lot of positives that a 25-year-old young man just displayed throughout the season. And the upside, I've got a lot of belief in our staff and Daniel's work ethic and their relationship that will continue to grow, and Daniel will continue to get better. If he's just at his floor right now, I'm really excited about what his ceiling is going to be.

I forgot just how glowingly Schoen felt about Jones. With only six games played and the total team failure, be prepared with 2023 to be viewed by Schoen and the rest at 1925 Giants Way as another outlier... ;)

Lol, that's a good analogy and I agree. Even further than your point. I think if JJM, JD or DM are on the board and he trades then I will have lost all faith in him tbh.

You have been absolutely spot on re Schoen. And I am now firmly in your camp that he is fully responsible for the DJ contract. I hope he pivots quickly. But I suspect he will triple down on his mistake. We will know for sure within the next ninety days.

I would stay put and take Daniels, but that trade would be tempting but as you said, hate the picks. I would take any of the corners, Verse and Latu before Latham. 2nd, taking a LB over Trice or Chop Robinson? Boo

You might be right that they wouldn't get that much, but in that draft they only went back 9 spots (11 to 20) and I believe the drop from 6 to 13 is considered a bit bigger than that one value-wise.
Giants need players
upnyg : 2/22/2024 8:01 am : link
If they dont like Daniels, then trade down. Getting 2024 1st and 2nd and 2025 1st and 2nd is OK. If the Raiders trun around and go 500 in 2024 then they are both mid round picks for that round.

We may want an additional 3rd.
Yeah, if the Giants don't love Daniels, that's a no brainer.
Heisenberg : 2/22/2024 8:18 am : link
We have enough holes to fill and the extra first is ammo to move up next year.
Don't think the Giants will pick
jeff57 : 2/22/2024 8:38 am : link
Evan Neal II.
I could see this.
Csonka : 2/22/2024 9:54 am : link
Obviously only if Schoen isn't in love with Daniels.

The absolute weakest link last season was Neal, so either he has to get better or he has to be replaced.
I sort of hate mocks with trades but,
short lease : 2/23/2024 12:12 am : link
(and even though I think we would get more) - I would take that in a heartbeat.

Remember that trade made by the Vikings for Hershal Walker? That practically built Dallas' Superbowl Team.

We need more high round draft picks to build a better team.
