A win tonight sets an all time Rangers record with eleven wins in a row.
Igor has been awesome, but gets a break after yesterday's win and Quick is in goal tonight.
The Blue Jackets incredible rising star, Adam Fantilli is injured and out of tonight's lineup.
No truth to the rumor that the owner of that tall building in Manhattan is changing it's name to the Rempe-ire State Building.
LGR !!
Rangers are in a three games in four days' stretch, all on the road. Did they retreat to NYC last night and fly out this AM? Odds favor a BJs on the other hand are in a three game in five nights stretch, the last two at home. CBJ are last in Eastern Conference with 46 points, fewer than all except Sharks, Ducks and Blackhawks. I figure reasons galore for Rangers' usual sluggish start, JQ on tap early.
Will NYR be better on FOs tonight? Hope so.

Too hard to resist participating in Rangers threads the way they are playing. I was originally resigned to leaving the posting to the vets of the site.
I honestly don't think they have been playing particularly well (Dallas and Colorado games are exceptions) but one of the signs of a great team is being able yo steal some wins even when playing tough opponents that may not be that good (yet) but are playing hard. We got that from Philly, NYI and to a lesser extent Tampa) and to beat the teams you are supposed to. Rangers are def doing that and it seems Shesty is back (despite giving up 5 against NYI).
My question is do they add Kaako as a trade piece to get Vatrano as I have read? The Vatrano Henrique idea is great, but Kaako is playing VERY well right now finding his scoring opps on the 3rd line. Would you include Kaako in that trade at this point?

And to re-up a point pj made in the Flyer thread, ballsy and thus far successful calculation by Drury to re-cast the 4th with the Twin Towers, to tweak Y's metaphor. That line's +/- remains to be seen, but it is no doubt far more interesting and fun to watch than the Bonino/Pitlick version.

Should have stuck to your original plan to "resist participating."
WTF are you watching? "Not playing particularly well?" They've outscored their opponents by more than 20 goals in 10 games. Igor has been a beast. The 3rd and 4th lines are consistently doing damage. Jesus, I'd say stick to football but that's probably a stretch too....
Hombre y amigo Brett, debias que....You needed to add an emoji there signaling /s/ or in fun. I don't find Rick's comments as negative at all, maybe because for the most part they mirror mine ha!, and I don't consider mine as negative, just observational. Is that allowed, observations that are not all and always permeated through with rosy homer commentary? And I know that's not the way you watch the games either.
So there.
Negative? Here's negative: "I'm sick of seeing Vesey on the first line. Get a real RW." Now, 'Nak is not wrong that a legit RW would solidify and balance the roster. Vatrano? Maybe, but not at the expense of Kappo to another poster's comment. That would Season Misconduct Drury back in the Buch penalty box.
The wrong with that complaint is that no one has worked well as a RW on that line, not one experiment, Laf, KK, Vesey and whoever else. Tell me they are all pikers. Part of what's wrong with the 'first' line is imo Rangers'[nmc] Veteran Appreciation Night complacency, though not so much Zib. Maybe, just maybe, they're too dug in with each other.

They started quite slow against several teams. Montreal, NYI... I meant I didnt see that as their best hockey. Islanders win was kind of a miracle. There was a point yesterday where we were getting outshot 3-1 and when we were 0-10 on faceoffs. Thats not what we were used to seeing.
As far as goal differential, we have been toing that against pretty bad teams like Ottawa and the Candians 2 of the worst teams in the conference. We eeked out a win against likely the very worst team in the league in Chicago.
Im not saying Im unhappy with them, Im saying they have won 10 straight without being at the top of their game the whole time.

Lol, you're right, I should have--I enjoy Rick's comments.
I agree with you on the first line but I don't think KK got enough time to marinate there (I know I'm in the minority on this. Kreider and Zibanejad are hard stylistically to fit, IMO, and also not exceptional first line players.
As a long time Ranger fan , love the way the regular season has gone so far. Igor has his confidence and Mojo back for sure.
They will definitely need for him to be at his best in the playoffs.
Being a fan for 60+ years I have been disappointed way too many times in the playoffs.
I’ll try to keep my bitching to a minimum… haha.
Frankly, I prefer your individual critiques of players rather than the Eeyore-like behavior of a ton of fans when we struggle for a few games.
Unfortunately, Rempe didn't fair too good with this fight. Can win them all but damn proud of him
Nose was bleeding so they sent him to get it treated.
Olivier said before the game he was going to do that. Rempe has got a target on him for whatever reason. Like to see the Trouba train run through someone, or a couple of someone's for payback.
Happened with Domi back in the day. As a rookie he had 185 PIM in something like 25 games

And have all these guys challenge him pre-game. It is kind of weird. Must have had quite a minor league reputation?

He was almost indestructible though. Basically a bowling ball for a head.
Poor Rempe must be wondering if he'll be challenged every game.
Gives him a chance to get his team fired up and it lets him establish himself. The guy was a 6th round draft pick, he knows he's not saying up in NY as purely a goon, but if he can establish some value it gets him more time, and then he can prove he's not just a goon and his overall game is good enough and valuable to the team and it's worth keeping him up in NY. Over a Pitlick or Bonino type.
Refuel the tank and let's start another 10 gamer.
Next time this happens pre-game Edstrom and Trouba should do the same things to two other guys and tell them they better be ready too.

Even that "loss" was not a loss per se. Olivier had several bloody spots. Kid is 21 which is hardly a man in the NHL and he had to fight two enforcers on the road 2 days in a row. Its almost a doomed outcome. I agree that maybe we need to let the kid off the hook for a few games by having a vet like Trouba or Trochek or Kreider take a solid run at one of these meatheads. Rempe can actually foreche k a little and has been a presence in front of the net.
The trouble is, if they tell him to back down now, it might seem like Oliver's fight got to him. Fact is, Rempe can still fight, but it doesnt need to be at the drop of every puck. Have level a couple of cats and then get called.
Play enough games in the season, it's gonna happen. All this loss adds up to is just something to mumble about on a cold night in February and a forgotten memory come April.
Reset and keep swimming.
This team isn't perfect and they never were. Hopefully 2 full days of rest does them well.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the roster looks like by the evening of 3/8.

Here's hoping!
Rempe can play, but he's going to be challenged by every meathead in the league now.
I'd suggest he not back down, but also suggest he not talk to the other team during warm ups. Don't make it premeditated or pre-arranged. If it happens during the course of the game, fine. THe kid can play, and he's dirty, he hits hard but clean.
Could be just me though.
The Rangers have need a player like Remke for 50 years. The veterans on the team need to step up lead. The kid needs some neutering. He can be a very valuable asset in the playoffs. But the circus needs to leave town.
I hate the pre planned fights to start the game. Hate it. The NHL needs to find a way to stop that crap.
With the trade deadline 12 days away what are the pieces the Ranger are missing to be a serious cup contender? RW1? 3C? Front of net clearing D?

and set the date for May 4th 1974.

3C, again Brodz is perfectly fine as the 3C.

OFFICIAL: #NYR have acquired Vladislav Namestnikov, Libor Hajek, Brett Howden, a first-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, and a conditional first-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft from Tampa Bay in exchange for Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller.
other than the technical fighting advice which Scott is of course an authority on, Scott basically echoes what I said about Rempe and the fights:
“He’s definitely made an impact, which is what you need to do as a young kid breaking into the League,” Scott said. “I think he should be taking on whoever he can, win or lose, it’s what he needs to do to keep his spot in the lineup. He can score, so hopefully he won’t need to fight as often.”....

I do think he would maximize his impact by putting a hold on the arranged first period bouts and keeping the gloves on until the game flow dictates that the team could use a shot in the arm energy-wise.

Yeah this one still pisses me off lol. Others in contention are the Buchnevich/Blais trade, Zubov and Nedved, Middleton for Hodge. Looking at Zubov, Middleton, and JT, these are three players who have gone on to be great players. Hopefully the front office looks at these trades and remembers to stay patient with the likes of Kakko, Lafreniere, K'Andre.
"- Traded the 2nd best forward on the team for a 4th liner and a 2nd rounder. (Anakim still beats this horse to death)
- Traded a 3rd for Ryan Reaves, overpaid him, and flipped him for a 5th a year later
- Gave Patrik Nemeth, who’s now out of the NHL, 3x2.5, and wasted a 2nd rounder a year later to dump the contract
- Traded for flashy big names at the 2023 deadline instead of team needs which proceeded to get the team swept in the first round
off-season signed Bonino Pitlick and wheeler….all which are done Wheeler only to injury.
The only Good thing he did was sign Trocheck & Quick
Drafted Othmann, Perreault, & Fortescue. "
Plus, the Goodrow contract is fucking gross and always has been. But yeah, it's been a mixed bag with Drury and the core and its main successes (with the exception of Trocheck and Quick) are due to the players JD and Gorton acquired.
Conversely, the Goodrow contract might be the worst in the NHL right now. If he is not traded in the offseason (likely along with a 2nd or 3rd round pick a la Nemeth), he will probably be bought out after next season for the immediate cap relief that is going to be necessary for when Igor is due for his payday, as well as Kakko and K'Andre. It's too early to get into this though. Point being, the Goodrow contract is a mess, and hopefully the Rangers can win the Cup in spite of it.
I won't give him as much credit for Quick, because it appears Quick has always wanted to come here and would have likely taken less money to play for the Rangers. It's the same way that I don't credit Gorton so much for adding Lafreniere and Kakko who just fell into his lap, or Panarin, who also publicly stated his desire to play for the Rangers for at least a year before he became a free agent.
Once again, sounds like the Oilers will fail to address goalie.

I liked his 2022 trade deadline. Copp, Vatrano, and Braun. Only gave up a first rounder because we made the conference final. It's the exact sort of deadline I'm hoping he can replicate this time around.
Coach hires are also part of a GMs resume too. The last regime probably would have stuck with Quinn and moving on from Gallant after two 100+ point seasons was a bold move. Laviolette was exactly what this group needed.
Drury was the AGM too when that core was acquired. We don't know what role he played but he was in the mix.
I don't know. He's running a pretty good team. Could be worse

meant to say he's NOT dirty.

While Henry would be a good debt for the Rangers, I am way more into acquiring for Toronto and getting him might just cost draft picks and not make us include kakko
