I think the entire Giants organization did that...

that was a weird outlier amongst everything else said about him during the hiring process. He'll be a hero if he can get the o-line to play at even an average level.

Hondo Carpenter discusses JJ McCarthy. After listening to him and hearing what his contacts have told him about JJ you have to want him to be the Giants QB.

He’s quoting some NFL executive that told him that McCarthy was a second round pick a few weeks ago, but after the Pro Day and Combine his the best QB in the draft? Makes no sense.

He said before the combine that he had McCarthy as a second-round pick.

He then spoke with an NFL GM who has a history of picking top QBs. This GM has his QB and will not be pursuing a QB. This executive said that he had McCarthy as the number one QB in the class and that he had only two first-round QBs.

Hondo then said that McCarthy blew away the GMs with his interview. His interviews had elevated him significantly.

The anecdote about how McCarthy was the only QB who could read all the coverages and how he picked up on the safety's keys, such as pressure on his off foot.

These traits are what you want in your QB.

It doesn’t compute.

In all honesty I want results. He’s not the head coach so I don’t care if he’s an asshole. Just do your job.

I have unabashedly been a McCarthy proponent.
This is based upon my observations and reconfirmed by his testing.

Watch Alabama vs. Michigan.
McCarthy dissected Alabama's secondary.

This was against two first-round quality CBs and a top safety.
This was his biggest game and rose to the occasion.

He is 21 and ascending.

about Bricillo even though Hondo talks about him like he's Bill Bratsky.

And wondering how good he would have been if a man like Bricillo would have been around instead of all the clowns who called themselves offensive line coordinators during his time here.
