Found an old draft guide and came across the write-up for our new Free Agent G/T. He now has a professional resume in the books, but here are a few interesting comments about him as a draft prospect:
(1) Having been born in England, "Discovered football on TV and a subsequent Google search."
(2) "Light on his feet with good movement skill for a 330-pounder."
(3) Very good body mass and natural strength. Tied for the most bench-press reps (34) among offensive tackles..."
(4) "Solid in pass protection when he latches on."
(5) "Stout and athletic enough to serve as an emergency tackle."
(6) "Has a big upside from his late introduction to football."
(7) Has the mass, strength and feet to compete readily in the pros , though will require a few years of seasoning..."
With the free agent additions of Jermaine Eluemunor & Jon Runyon, Jr., and a new offensive line coach in Carmen Bricillo, we may begin to see something that's been missing for a decade: a competent offensive line that gives this team a chance.
One big difference -- at the scouting combine, Jermaine Eluemunor particpated in all the drills and provided all this information missing from Evan Neal's Combine:
40-yard dash
10-yard split
20-yard split
20-yard shuttle
Three-cone drill
Vertical jump
Broad jump
Bench press
Quote:
The scouting report on Neal is even better.
Did Sy' write about Neal that he was good on his feet and good movement skills for a 330 lb? What I do remember Sy' saying is that Neal had balance issues.
Sy’56 had him ranked #24 among guards and centers. Not a lot to talk about.

That has turned into a big red flag.

I mentioned during his rookie year he kept winding up on the ground and was crucified for it on this board lol
Interview is great. It’s only words and what happens on the field is what matters. This guy gets it tho. Really impressive young man.
That “sucked the first 5 years” stood out to me. He even said guys like Neal and JMS are really in a tough spot trying to transition to the pros, thrown into the fire, and under the NY limelight.
My point is, the OL takes time to learn. These guys are not coached at the NFL level in college. They’re playing vs some of the best athletes in the league and some grown ass men.
