Our friends at GBN are calling this the "what if" Mock Draft due to the likelihood of Minny trading up, "...acquiring the 4th pick from Arizona for a package including the 11th and 23rd picks." However, GBN makes no pretense as to which team will trade up / down, but rather, "to give some idea how (the Minny/Arizona) trade would (impact) the various options teams might have as a result."
(As an aside, I have a sense that -- if Arizona trades down -- it will be with us, and not Minny. The Cards already have a huge amount of draft capital -- the most of any NFL team (picks 4, 27, 35, 66, 71, 90, 104, 138, 162, 186, 226) -- so the Minny enticement is not so enticing. Moreover, moving down to #6 will still ensure that Arizona secures one of the Big 3 WRs. Bottom line: My guess is that, if Minny trades up, it will be with the L.A. Chargers into the 5-hole.
As for the Giants, there's no QB in this Mock, but rather a WR, DT and RB, which would provide the team with a true #1 pass catcher, as well as replacements for A'Shawn Robinson and Saquon Barkley.
GBN Draft Report 2024 projection (3-Rounds) - (
New Window )
AZ with all the high picks they have already doesn't need to move far.
Think to go from 6 to 4 only requires the #70 according to the charts. Not that AZ needs another 3rd rounder. But they can package a their 3 3rd rounders (4 if they take #70) and get back to early 2nd for quality OL, DT or CB.
AZ is in a great place to get healthy in a hurry.
I'm fine saying it's better value selecting on of the top 3 WRs vs trading up for Qb4 but that has to result in trading up for Penix. We can't pretend we can just draft the next Jared Lorenzen Kyle Lauletta etc and just sit him a yea it that the value will be better next year.
Why does Arizona have a lot of assholes and why would that entice them to trade down? 🤣
A trade with Minny would give the Cards 4 first round picks. So many first rounders may have salary cap implications.
My hope, in this scenario, is someone not too far back really wants Alt and we trade back a bit and still grab a good (maybe not supper-elite) WR and get an additional top 50 pick.
I'd rather have the best player.
I'd rather have the best player.
Bill Belichick's biggest negative that led to the sharp downfall was his constantly moving around on the draft and then selecting guys that ended up not contributing.
He is a great coach and horrible GM. It got exposed after Brady left..
I'd rather have the best player.
I think back the 2005 draft. Fewer picks but nailing them.
I hope Schoen can get the following this April.
Future QB, WR, CB, DT and if possible a RB that is a hard runner like Estime from ND.

I think it's fair to say that - regardless of position -- if Joe Schoen nails a few picks, the Giants will improve greatly.
or any other BPA...not a RB
No QB.
No CB
No OL.
Can't get much worse than what wa spropsoed. Maybe not as bad as Isuggest if the RB can be repalced at 3rd rd.
But without a QB-- and seeing hwo Giants passed on Fields - and you could have these 3 same guys propsoed here -- it just might mean that the GM is out of his league.
Trading back to the Giants just makes so much more sense. You still pick up extra draft capital AND you are guaranteed to draft one of the few blew chip prospects in this year's Draft.

lol, apparently Jeff doesn’t like Arizonans.
One scenario that we sort of mulled over, in the context that we really don't see the Giants being in a position to get one of the top-4 rated QBs but they were interested in Nix as a fallback, that maybe they make the second trade with Arizona, take him at 11 (if Denver or Vegas don't jump them) and add a second rounder or two. And if they didn't get the receiver on 1 either way, they'd still be looking at some decent receivers at 47 including guys like Keon Coleman, McConkey, Malachi Corley and Ricky Pearsall. Again just spit-balling on that!
In doing a mock like this I am not trying to predict who the Giants or any team selects, but see what options the would be if the draft unfolds this way. And I certainly came away thinking that the Giants will have a lot of good options available at #47. In addition to Smith, there are a number of very good DLs including Brandon Dorlus and TVondre Sweat. There likely will also be several good OL including Cooper Beebe, as well as all the top safeties. In fact, given our druthers we would have liked to go CB and there are a couple of decent ones there including Kamari Lassiter and TJ Tampa. We also thought about TE Ja'Tavion Sanders as well as Trey Benson the top RB.
The options in the 3rd aren't as varied and in fact for us the choice came down to Wright or Melton. However, we think in the end the Giants would prefer a vet corner because you just can't count on a 3rd round rook to come and play a major role, whereas a back with Wright's speed can. Obviously QB Rattler would be a possibility there, but I'm thinking the Giants maybe take someone like Milton or Pratt in the 4th; so would several OL including Wisconsin C/G Tanner Bortolini who was one of our favorites at the Senior Bowl.
The other thing is that in the end what do the Giants want to do: plug some holes or build units that win games. We think they are getting to the latter and that's kind of the direction we took with these picks.

Who wrote the Great Gatsby?
F Scott Fitzgerald
Whoa whoa... What did Scott Fitzgerald do to you?
(I could have replied to at least two different posts with this -- e.g., no CB -- but rather than decide which, I'm just dropping it here.)
