Asked at the 2024 NFL Annual Meeting in Orlando on Monday how realistic it is for the Broncos to move up in the 2024 NFL Draft, Payton simply said that it is "realistic," according to NFL Media.
Payton even gave a hint as to where the Broncos might look to land, if they were to try to move up the board and get their quarterback of the future. "It's good to be [Cardinals general manager] Monti (Ossenfort) right now," he said.

Wasted how? The Giants would then be in a position to get a WR1 from a stud class, which they desperately need. Look what happened with the Eagles when they got Brown and Smith. They went from a terrible offense to unstoppable.
Stud WRs make a huge difference.
Oh quit your whinging.
Stud WRs make a huge difference.
Not completely disagreeing with you, but the Dolphins did draft Tua before acquiring them and he is better than any of our current QB’s by a long shot.

We are going to be stuck with a QB room of Jones, Lock, and Cutlets. Awesome. Another year wasted.

We need hope in the QB room. We don't have that right now.
You're making a huge assumption that they can't or won't get a QB. But even if you're right and it's the QB room we have right now, is that making a big difference for 2024 which figures to be a non-playoff season no matter what?
Try to get the QB this year and if you can't make smart selections, keep building and try again next year.

And even if they get a quarterback, that doesn't guarantee Daboll or Schoen's safety.
Really hard to understand.
Given the pick haul lost to Wilson trade, that is a team in ugly situation roster wise they better get it right or they’re in cap help and QB hell.

He looked bad before the WRs got there.

Sweet. I can't wait to watch someone like Nabers and Odunze run 5 yards curls and jet sweeps while we look for a QB who can throw the ball downfield.

Brian Flores was the HC his first 2 seasons and he has gotten better each year, the same cannot be said about the Giants QB
That’s true but let’s be realistic here. Even drafting a QB is another year “wasted “ but what were you expecting? As Eric said, drafting a QB will give the fanbase hope. That is all. We still need to build the roster before we can begin to be competitive
But if QBs go 1,2,3,4 that means Nabors and Marv would fall to 5 and one would be there for us. All we'd need is for the Chargers to pass on Marv and he'd be ours. I would not be upset with that, even if we did miss on QB there.
The other thing in that scenario... Nix is quite possibly there in 2 if Denver moves up for JJM. I know I like Nix more than most though.

This team is worse than mediocre with its current QB situation.
I understand that it all starts with the QB and if one the regime loves is there go for it BUT I'd prefer the top blue chip player regardless of position.
Assume that Denver or Minny trade up to 4 to get a QB.
That leaves the entire pool of draft eligible non-qbs to pick from minus one player. The Chargers like us need everything, except they don't need a QB. Harrison/Nabers?
It's not a bad spot to be in.
They can trade up for QB if they feel its worth it, they can sit tight and select an all pro talent at WR, or they can move down a bit and likely get an absolute haul, for a team that wants a QB.
Schoen will let it play out and do what he thinks is best for the franchise. If Williams-Daniels-Maye go 1-2-3, have a feeling that sticking at 6 or a trade down might be in their best interest. I don't believe Schoen is going to trade up for a player like McCarthy.

Not knowing what Schoen plans to do or has the QBs ranked is good thing keep all the other teams guessing as well.
IMO Penix and Nix drop further than they are being mocked today.(Late first and beyond)

This mindset of just accept the mediocrity is mind boggling to me.

No one is accepting anything of the sort. It's adjusting to what is available and fucking dealing with it.
First of all, he was a good QB who led the Giants to a Super Bowl and an additional playoff appearance. He brought the Giants their first 3000 yard passer in six years (crazy the bar was so low) and helped Toomer and Hilliard finally break out after suffering with Brown/Kannell/Graham.
Morever, the whole history behind Collins is the exact opposite approach of "stick with Jones and hope he imrpoves." Accorsi brought him in because he was disatisfied with the level of QB play on the team in 97 and 98. Then, after one major down year in 2003, Accorsi didn't hesitate to move on and grab Eli when the opportunity to upgrade the position even more presented itself. He even pissed off the locker room with this move at the time.
The current Giants FO can learn a lot from EA, who was really one of the few Giants GMs in the post-merger era who was really proactive with the QB position and understood that it's like any other position on the team: competition and upgrades should always be on the table; you shouldn't hemretically seal away the starter unless they are one of the league's best.

On Zach Wilson, Joe Douglas says nothing is close to being done on a trade. Won’t rule out a return to the #Jets but wants to do what’s right for both sides. “Ultimately, we’re going to have to do what’s best for the team.”
Of course you have zero idea who the top tier and second tier guys are..

Giants are not in a bad spot in the draft - contrary to what lots of posters are saying.

Exactly. Our frustration everything to do with a lack of faith in ownership and the pre-Schoen front office staff still in place after a decade of ineptitude.
We don't know Schoen's intentions. It's been hard to assess. Hopefully, it's hard for NFL teams to assess what we want to do. It's a hell of a lot better than the Eagles jumping us for Devonta Smith
- 2016: both the Titans and Bears knowing jumping us for Jack Conklin and Leonard Floyd leaving us caught with our pants down and draft Eli Apple
-2021: Howie knowing we wanted Devonta Smith and moving one spot ahead to draft him. We trade down and draft Kadarius Toney.
Frankly, I like the fact that NFL connected ESPN/NFLN mock draft guys still see WR as the most common narrative as opposed to us desparate to trade up for a QB.
He's Dave Brown.

he is much closer to alex smith or tannehill than either. go look at alex smith's first 6 years in sf or tannehill's last year in miami.

Those guys were never as pathetic as Jones was in 2023. They are much better passers than Jones.
He's Dave Brown.
The one thing EA understood was franchise QBs and how important it was
He first delivered us from Dave brown through graham and kanell and then got us Collins. It was ballsy to trade up for Eli when many were satisfied with Collins. History is coming full circle. Cutlets was Danny Kanell with a better arm.

Well most of us do. Some have irrational attachments to a single player to an extent they will tear into other players on the same team.
