Doubledeuce22 : 3/25/2024 10:10 am
Big game tonight with Cleveland getting blown out last night. Expecting the same starting lineup with Deuce in tonight. Win tonight and you take over 3rd in the conference which is huge. OG listed as OUT.
Magic has easier remaining schedule
pivo : 3/25/2024 11:29 am : link
So hanging on to 4th may prove as difficult as taking over 3rd. We need JR & MR back, and there doesn’t seem to be a timetable for returns yet.

You're right. I assumed they would be off. But yes, maintain course. 2 more games they should win after tonight against bad teams and the Knicks have feasted against teams under .500 this year.
So what do we have in McBride? For him I applaud Thibs’

play until you die philosophy. He may not ever create much but his jumper is textbook and now falling with PT and confidence. And his D is always stellar.

Rose just needs to use his picks and hit on 50% of them.

I think Marks gets a lot of slack because Joe Tsai is heavily involved in those types of decisions. I’d bet not trading Bridges was his call

Burks questionable with a shoulder sprain. Poor Deuce. Maybe Milton gets dusted off.

I think it mostly depends on if it's the Nets picks. If they had a chance to get a couple of their own picks back and Green and passed up on it, that's just outrageous. You could actually rebuild if you get your picks back.

I'd like to see him get some burn this week. Can't keep playing Deuce and Hart 40 plus minutes going into the playoffs. Bojan is just Fournier and a tradable contract at this point, while Burks has been a disaster
Injury Updates
nygiants16 : 3/25/2024 6:02 pm : link
Mitchell Robinson continues to go through contact and lracticing fukl may be the first to return..

Randle is dojng controlle contact feels good has been doing this for 3 weeks, hasnt graduated to full live contact yet but no setbacks..

OG is participating in Shootaround but sitll has alittle irritation left in his elbow and waiting for that to full subside, guess thats code for strengthening the welbow a little more
Can’t wait to see Mitch back out there.

Nets aren't trying to trade their best player to the Knicks.

Also, there's reports that they turned down multiple firsts from teams, so I'm not sure they're going to take pennies on the dollar now, especially considering that they don't own their own picks, so tanking won't help them.

While I do think his first few months with the Nets last year vasty overated Bridges, There is no way that package would get you him and he's probably not getting traded to the Knicks any way. I think the real Bridges is Phoenix Bridges. As you said a really nice complementary scorer and plus defender great piece for a contender. In a lot of ways I think he's a better fit for the Knicks than Donovan Mitchell. Probably a waste to think about it though as the Nets will most likely never deal him to the Knicks. If they made him available there would be multiple suitors.

I think the only way Booker gets moved is if he demands a trade. You don't trade guys that good in their prime. They have very little flexibility going forward. So I think they need to keep running it back as long as they can. I mean, Beal is pretty unique in that not only does he have a NTC, nobody wants him! lol...

This has to be the worst draft in years right? Imagine picking reed sheppard with a top 5 pick?

I saw on ESPN that Quickley and Barrett are out for Wednesday's game against the Knicks due to return to competition conditioning/personal reasons. A new way of saying we're tanking for draft lottery position.

Spectator fan interest in the sport is alive and well.

Talent influx not so much. Kids on phones, not playing ball.

Rokas Jokubaitis is expected to leave Barcelona at the end of the season. The player will play in the Summer League to pursue the NBA dream. Should he stay in Europe, Zalgiris Kaunas is favourite to sign the Lithuanian point guard.

Don't sleep on the Rockets. Houston is coming on, even with Sengun injured. Udoka might be a total cad, but the dude can flat out coach.

The West is just flat out loaded. That said-as I've said before-I'll be surprised if the Nuggets don't win the conference.

JJ Reddick on Josh Hart:

“Josh Hart, at this size — and he’s an athlete, but not an uber-athlete, and he’s strong and he’s quick, but not uber-strong or uber-quick — but he rebounds outside of his area as well as any guard I’ve seen,” said Redick, who now serves as an ESPN/ABC game and studio analyst. “He pursues the basketball, he gets rebounds in traffic, long rebounds. He ends up with basketballs that he has no business ending up with.

“And I think what’s important here is the Knicks have taken on this identity. They have embraced this gritty culture — and of course it starts with Thibs and JB — but they have a group now with a real identity. And I don’t think there’s anybody on this team that has embodied it more than Josh Hart.”

Rebounds exceedingly well for a 6'4" guy, sure, but he was pretty much helpless against the Nuggets' size and length.

And that is not an accident: the Denver GM has spoken about targeting size and length in player acquisition.

Do you want to win a championship (as the Nuggets have done and may do again) or do you want to be admired for your grittiness and guttiness?

Me, I'd prefer the former. And, in a cap league, there are hard choices that have to be made. Josh Hart's contract may be a significant reason the Knicks have to let Hartenstein go in free agency: an actual competent tall guy.

That Denver game happened at altitude after he went 48 full minutes. I'm not using that game to define him.

I don't know enough about the cap situation or rules to know if we can bring Hartenstein back. But I do agree he's a very important piece.
Hart is not costing the Knicks Hartenstein
Stu11 : 3/27/2024 7:59 am : link
I'm not breaking down every team's cap situation but it's hard to imagine any team in better shape than the Knicks contract wise. It's been a superpower for Rose getting guys licked up to great deals. It's given them the ability the pay a guy like Hartenstein and still stay under the 2nd apron. If need be they could always move Bogdanovich this off season as an expiring in the same boat as Fournier only a better player.

Here we go again. Hart has one off game and you come running out of the woodwork with your absolute asinine take that his contract is some kind of albatross. I’m not sure if maybe Hart banged your girl or something but your obsession with his contract is one of the strangest things I’ve seen on here. Instead of looking like a fool again and quadrupling down on this stupid take you’d think you’d be bright enough to sit this one out. Hart has earned every single penny.

Oh, and this idea that the Knicks can’t win a championship because of Harts size is another gem. And using Denver as your proof? Denver won the title because they have the best player on the planet. And a second piece that is a top 15 player in the league. Golden State was a freakin dynasty and it damn sure wasn’t because of their length and size. Acting like Denver’s model is the only model that can win a title is incredibly disingenuous
Using the Nuggets game to say the Knicks lack Size
nygiants16 : 3/27/2024 8:31 am : link
is utterly ridiculous, they were missing their starting PF and SF, which if they played the knciks would not be lacking size and Hart goes back to play the 2/3 where than his size is an advantage..

This idea that Hart is going to stop the Knicks from signing Hartenstein is simply not true, if the Knicks dont sign Hartenstein its because either someone overpaid for him OR the Knicks did not want to be paying 2 starting quality centers..
and to add to it the only reason Hart is playing 40 minutes a night
Stu11 : 3/27/2024 8:33 am : link
is becuase we've had 3 starters out for months. When Mitch, OG and Randle are healthy we have a ton of that "size and length" you so covet with Hart playing a very key role off the bench. Denver's size and length sure didn't bother Hart when we beat them by 30 at the Garden...
I dont think people realize how good a position the Knicks are in
nygiants16 : 3/27/2024 9:07 am : link
They are a legit title contender right now fully healthy and they dont have a max contract on their roster..

They have the ability to add to this core without touching any of the main pieces: Brunson, DDV, Hart, OG , Randle, Hartenstein and even Mitch..

They have draft picks galore to make a big trade if they want to.

They have a big expiring in Bojan..

They have some bigger name players if you want to go the big big trsde route in Randle and Mitch who are on good contracts..

They have a youbg player on a steal deal in Mcbride..

All this added up the arrow is pointed straight up for this franchise with the ability to maneuver if needed

Hart started at PF (4 if you prefer #s) that night (due to injuries of 3 bigs). Do you really think it's fair to judge him based on that, as he played very much out of position?

When we get OG & JR back, Hart will be playing 2/3, where his size is a non factor and his rebounding is a +.

shyster hate for Hart make no sense

I think a lot hinges about the approach this offseason. They'll have 2 late draft picks. They have Hartenstein and OG approaching Free agency and a bunch of conditional draft equity going forward.

I feel like we say it every year, but this offseason feels very important to solidifying the future of this team. The window is open.

I am hoping that some agreement can be reached with Hartenstein but after this season and his advanced metrics, I wonder if some team doesn't try to offer him 20-25 million a year. I think the Knicks can only offer him 16/year without clearing space.

Also wonder if OG doesn't make it back for the playoffs does that effect his next contract.
Knicks
TyreeHelmet : 3/27/2024 10:33 am : link
Also have an owner who will spend and not think twice. They may not for strategic reasons, but Dolan has always been willing to spend big and now he actually has a good team. Knicks are in great shape.

I could see things blowing up in PHX. Just a wild guess but I could see Durant back to OKC and Booker to NYK.
Cabs have a couple of easy games
nygiants16 : 3/27/2024 10:42 am : link
and then a tough 6 game west coast trip, if they dont get Mitchell back or Mobely, i could see them going 0-6 on the trip..

I'm sure they have a handshake deal in place, but I think it's possible that the agent might check in with Philly to see if they can get a couple more bucks out of the Knicks.
His agent is Leon Rose's son lol

bceagle05 : 3/27/2024 11:03 am : link
and I’m confident he will. Celtics made it to Game 7 of the conference finals last year and added Jrue and KP, Bucks added Dame (we’ll see how that goes), Philly will have cap space, Miami is always looking for stars, Indy added Siakam. These teams are all uber aggressive so “running it back” is probably not gonna cut it.

I think they add a 2 guard and maybe replace Randle, MAYBE, moving DDV and Hart coming off the bench
IMO
Dr. D : 3/27/2024 11:28 am : link
this roster (when healthy) is deeper and more well-rounded than the teams of the 90s. It's also more enjoyable to watch, with better ball movement, better shooting & offense than those teams.

I like our chances IF OG and JR can come back and be effective in the playoffs.
The Celtics are the best team
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 3/27/2024 12:04 pm : link
and despite a dominant season, they still feel al little vulnerable because Tatum is closer to the ~7th best player in the league than the 3rd. Not to mention how KP is always an injury risk and without him, they become a lot easier to beat.

I think I'd rank a healthy Knicks team as a bigger threat to take out the Celtics than any other team in the East, including the Bucks.

I think I'd go Nuggets, healthy Knicks, the Mavs if Kyrie/Luka simultaneously get hot, and the Bucks if Dame/Giannis are feeling it as the only 4 teams who could realistically beat the healthy Celtics. Maybe the Heat/Lakers as the next two since they tend to step up in the playoff format.

What an awesome Knicks squad this is to watch. Earlier in the year I was thinking Pacers vs. Knicks would be one of my favorite potential matchups in the playoffs, but now I feel like the Knicks are on another level. I think Knicks vs. Bucks is now the Easter Conference matchup that I want to see the most. Brunson vs. Lillard, Giannis and co. against the Knicks' great depth. Really hoping we get that.
