On NFLNetwork, from the owners meetings
Saw the video on Twitter, but this was the quote
‘It’s been really interesting l, because everyone is always trying to figure out, especially at the top of the draft, what the other teams are doing? When I’ve had conversations here, with executives of other teams who know Adam Peters (Washington GM) well, who know the situation well, the most popular answer for what they do at number 2, is JJ McCarthy’
Daniels to NE, Giants trade up to 4.

This would mean Maye could shake loose out of the top 3.

Question is can we move up to 4 without giving up next year's first rounder? Arizona in position to play hardball

You would hope the Cowden-Ossenfort connection helps us.

I don't see how we can. If Maye is still on the board at #4, Minnesota will likely offer Arizona #11, #23, and their #1 and #3 next year. We'd have to offer at least #47 and our #1 next year to compete with that offer.

We don’t know what Minnesota wants to do or is even willing to do.
Folks are assuming Kwesi is willing to trade off top halves of his draft two years in a row. Its up to Schoen and his team to have a comfort price and stick to it.

Arizona misses on MHJR and the other top wrs in this scernario. Will they do that?
Mariota is much more similar to Jayden as a runner than McCarthy. McCarthy has 632 career rushing yards in college. Mariota had more than that in just his freshman season and had almost 4 times more rushing yards in college. He also averaged more rushing yards a season than Daniels did in college.
That being said… this is the absolute best outcome for the NYG to draft Drake Maye.
Maybe not, but if you're able to (The Redskins are/were able to due to their pick in the Draft) you'd like your backup to be able to run a similar offense to the starter. If your starter goes down you don't want to have to change the entire offense.
Which means where does Maye fall in terms of QB's the Giants like? Obviously there has been a lot of smoke with JJM. Not sure if thats just talk to get off the scent but also Minny would be in play for a potential trade up to get the last QB as well.

Best outcome for us getting Maye is JD-CW top 2, then Vikings trade up to 3 for JJM imo. In this scenario we would have to overpay greatly to beat the Vikings out for Maye i think.

I'm not sure why you think we would have to overpay to beat the Vikings. We are in a much better spot. If anything it'd be the Vikings that would have to greatly overpay considering they pick way below us.
If they want scuttlebutt they can read the thousands of X posts from reporters covering the team.

We would have to overpay simply because it would be a bidding war between us and a team with pick 11 and 23 in this draft. If there wasn't much competition for the trade up, then we wouldn't have to overpay. The Broncos couldn't provide as much competition in a bidding war as the Vikings imo.

the leverage we would have is we know ARZ really wants a big time WR. They still could basically lock in MHjr or Nabers by trading with us...a trade with Minny or anything outside the top 10 wouldn't allow the to be certain to get one of the 3 ELITE WR's in the classs.
You would hope Schoen would understand that and even if the Cards GM threatens Minny has a great package if you don't move up. He stays strong on a reasonable deal knowing the Cards basically give up MHjr/Nabers/Odunze if they trade down to 11.

Maybe not, especially since they already have a ton of draft capital. But if they stay at #4, Minnesota will presumably make the same offer to San Diego.

same thought process though...do Chargers risk missing out on one of the ELITE WR's (nabers or odunze) or one of the franchise tackles)? Moving down to 11 is pretty far to secure one of your targets unless you don't like the top of the draft and want more equity thorughout the draft.
Seems like Herbert could use a #1 receiver to throw to.

I agree, the best solution to have ready for Schoen imo would be a double trade up first with Chargers then with AZ. It would cost us probably pick 70 and 2025 3rd, maybe 2025 3rd and 2025 2nd, something along those lines. Then everyone gets who they want and the Chargers+Cardinals get some extra draft capital for helping us lockout Min.
I'm not sure if you were on BBI for '04, but this is the most excited I've been since that year.
Almost 20 years to the day. Hopefully luck favors the bold again!
