Cecil Lammey (I know, kind of a goofball, but still plugged in) is at the owners meeting and just shared a few notes from conversations last night and this morning:
-Daniels still WAS preference at 2 despite recent JJM smoke
-Broncos want JJM
-Minnesota prefers Maye
-Daboll seemed to clam up a bit when taking questions and asked about QBs in the draft, bad poker face further confirming what we know about NYG desire to draft a QB high
-Arizona very open to moving back and getting Rome vs sticking with MHJ at 4
Wouldn't it be something if all this smoke was created so we could trade to 4 to take Harrison.
Arizona can drop to 6 and take Odunze.
Cowden-Ossenfort connection.

As good as MHJ is, I’d be pissed if we used assets to move up to take a guy who is only a slightly better prospect than a guy who would be available at 6. They aren’t moving up for anyone other than a QB.
I think the Giants will have 1 QB and 1 WR to chose from.....
Exactly this.
IF real, and this is a BIG "if" since it's lying season, then the Giants have an ideal trading partner from 6 to 4. Giants can get a QB (Maye or JJM) and the Cards can still get one one of the three best WRs in the draft, although one of them may be gone by pick #6---specifically MHJr.
LAC may want more picks since they are rebooting the franchise with Harbaugh. So I could see a scenario where LAC would rather trade back to 11 and also get 23 and other picks instead of trade back 1 spot.
NE is the wild card in all of this. I doubt they want to trade back all the way to 11 from 3. Plus it would take an insane amount of draft capital from MN.
Further confirming what? That no one knows shit.
The AZ nugget is interesting.

No technically nobody knows anything, but if you look at everything the Giants have done/said since the college football season it sure looks like they want to come out of the 1st round with a QB.

Not saying I would rather MHJ, but it would a chess move to get someone who "could" be the top 1 or 2 prospect on your board.

Good post.

Yes, they clearly want a qb in what the front office had called "one of the best QB classes in years". The owner has given his approval publicly. They've revealed they have serious concerns about DJ's injuries. They've been in hedged discussion with the Patriots about trading up. Sorry, djm, but this is known.
Now, the question is will the Patriots trade? Will we make a deal with the Patriots if Daniels isn't there? If the Patriots don't trade or they trade with Minnesota then do we like the 4th QB (JJM or Maye) enough to trade up for him if needed? I imagine AZ will be getting calls from Denver and Las Vegas about that pick so it's really hard to realistically envision staying put at 6 if we like the QB. Then again, if AZ doesn't want to move down that far and chooses to stay put then maybe we could get the QB at 6 because LAC are unlikely to trade with division rivals (the Seahawks could maybe though). Either way you slice it, if they like the 4th QB it would be really risky to see if he makes it to 6.
Exciting times. It sounds like both the Patriots and Cardinals would much rather trade down to 6 vs 11. Which makes sense with the 5 blue chip players and 4 QBs pick 11 is no man's land.

I can't imagine anybody would be willing to take on that Kyler Murray contract and they can't cut him due to the dead money.

Cost will be close to the same go to 3 vs 4 I'd imagine, maybe slightly less. If they have really strong conviction in Maye or JJM then trading to 3 to get him would be safest to avoid Minnesota sniping our guy. Then again, maybe Schoen could have intel on who Minnesota wants at 3 and know whether or not he needs to go to 3 or 4. I could see Sean Payton trading a lot to AZ for JJM, so the only chance we could get a big 4 QB at 6 is if Minnesota trades to 3, AZ doesn't want to trade too far, LAC don't want to trade with division rivals, and NE doesn't want to trade draft capital they just got for trading down to trade back up. I see very little chance of us getting a big 4 QB without trading up at this point.

Murray's contract is guaranteed through 2025, would be extremely rough on cap, nearly 100 million guaranteed through 2025. Plus, he was playing well once he got all healed up from the ACL in the back half of the season. In the last 3 games he had 720 yards passing, 6 tds, 1 int and a 70% completion percentage to go with 90 yards rushing. Extrapolated to 17 games and that's about 4080 yards, 34 tds and 6ints plus 500 yards rushing. They aren't going to surprise everyone with a QB pick imo.
