We will use this as a discussion thread to keep the SELECTIONS thread uncluttered. These threads will be used for the duration of the draft.
While we are starting early, the clock won’t officially start until
Monday, April 8th at 9am. The draft will run from 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday until the start of the NFL Draft (Thursday, April 25th) or the completion of the 6th round. Please remember to use the DISCUSSION thread so we can keep this thread uncluttered.
Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two-hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm timeframe. If the two-hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (e.g. Kansas City won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year).
In consideration of your fellow participants, and so we can maintain strong momentum throughout the draft process, please continue to actively monitor the thread over the next two weeks. As always, I will provide "friendly reminder" emails as your upcoming picks approach.
If a GM misses a pick AND fails make some form of contact with me (either via email, posting on the draft DISCUSSION thread, or providing me with a prospect list) prior to their next pick, they will have just 15 minutes to make their next selection. With two consecutive missed picks, their spot will be forfeited and reassigned to one of the BBIers who have expressed an interest to fill the vacancy.
If you expect to miss a pick, please send me your draft board and I will make the selection on your behalf.
Per usual, we will also hold an undrafted free agency process that will start immediately after the final pick of RD6. Anyone who wants to participate can select up to 5 UDFAs. Selections are made on a first come, first serve basis. I am not making any changes to this process, so please don’t ask.
Please utilize the
BBI Mock Draft Spreadsheet. The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-6) by team and GM with a fairly comprehensive list based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible… Good luck!
Kind of glad my turn is coming up close to the end of the day at work. Give me time to review my options more closely before I make a selection. Last year, in a later round, I chose someone already taken and had to rush the choice. Don't want a repeat of that.
But we got Brian Burns who likely is better than any of them.
I also considered WR and CB as options, but just couldn't pass up on the monster Paul.
I was deciding between Sweat and Braswell. Great pick. Especially with Bijan in the division I was tempted to do it.
How do you leave WR off that list as well as DT! Really I would be looking at one of the top DTs left and there are some really good ones. Same with WR and whatever I missed on with those two I would get the other in the 3rd round.

I am not a Sweat guy. He is going to eat himself out of the league. He is a two down player at best. I am just glad MadPlaid can't draft him hahaha. If you want a Texas DT we want Murphy who is a stud. Of course like this draft he will probably be gone.

Yes that was part of my consideration too.

I do... I would go WR here and I won't say which one until he is picked, but we need a WR and there are a couple that are really good.

I do this because I have like 6 DTs and I would assume one would make it to round 3.

I will say that one of the 4 on my list is a WR. Don't want to divulge my whole list because I could still look at all 4 names if any are on the board when I pick next for the Ravens.
Is there a WR who really stands out from the rest at this point?

There is one.

I only see 2-3 more before the drop off happens again. This draft is deep in WRs because a lot of them have gone, but it only lasts until most like the beginning of the 3rd. That is why I would go WR now and not wait. DTs are a little deeper, but most of the draft is super strong until the top of the 4th when talent isn't nearly as good.
melton, dorlus, jalynn polk all guys id consider as well. corely and wilson too.
may go with one of the DL bc i think that's the position that probably drops off quickest. should still be good WR in round 3. corners you can get lucky in mid rounds as well.
Please let me know what you think and who you may have gone with instead of Nubin.
Cheers

I am sorry you are dealing with a family issue. Never apologize for that as family always first.
I won't be to hard on your for picking a Safety when really all the safeties are basically the same throughout the 2nd-5th round. You know Dabs wants a play maker at WR and we needing a starting DT, but hey an average safety is good too.
Pearsall is my top WR also along with one other who I love. That is where I would have went. Ricky is so under rated, runs great routes, has great speed, great hands, good moves. Really a big fan.
Nubin was also on my short list.

to go Safety here. I would have gone with WR Pearsall or RB Benson or Brooks.

Plus if you go QB in Round 1 come one man... Let's give him a weapon to help out on. Now MadPlaid is going to grab a WR next round and it won't be as good and you bypass one of the really good DTs because they won't make it to the 4th.

JJ McCarthy and Ricky Pearsall would be an ideal first 2 rounds for me.
if it were my pick id have probably taken 1 of the premium position michigan guys because we saw them make big plays in the games at the highest competition level (and the 3 highest on board right now tested as dynamic 90%+ athletes as well). i think those are 3 very high floor but also solid ceiling players who fit.
CB a bigger need and higher value position. Talent is similar.
Not a terrible pick though at all... especially given new DC's love of 3 safety looks.
Good job.

Good job.
Corley is my other WR... I love Corley also who reminds me of Hakeem Nicks.
Nubin is so slow and I know people say he had the same speed of McKinney, but I think that is more the exception rather than the rule. Like someone said X had tape that was insane and his time dropped him.
Corley and Pearsall were on my radar, and I don't think I spent enough time evaluating them in comparison to the DBs. If I did a better job of reviewing and comparing, I think I would have gone with one of them. I did take a look at RB too, Brooks to be specific. But once I saw he was coming off a recent ACL injury, I dropped him from consideration.
I hadn't thought about the deemphasis on safeties lately in the NFL. So, I think I missed on that evaluation which makes me second guess about Nubin in the end. One of the CBs or WRs would have probably been the wiser choice. Oh well. Too late.
Second guessing must be a top problem for all sports managers. Hopefully they all have good therapists. Ha
Cheers

Best part will be when Nubin is a stud and you can come back and say i told ya so : )

As I said, Nubin was on the short list so not like you took a S nobody was expecting here. I will post when the other 3 names are selected just because I will likely go BPA for the Ravens and don’t want to reveal the names or I think you have my email. Hopefully the hiccups of today can right themselves or maybe it is just wishful thinking so I can get Pick 62 in tomorrow and likely won’t be on the clock until next week.
Is there a WR who really stands out from the rest at this point?
I'd have selected Morgan ahead of Nubin as well. Not a knock on Nubin though. It's more about positional value. At the end of the day though, the NYG need all the help that they can get.
bowen had byard (pick 66 in 2016 before got there) and hooker (picked 116 in 2019 when he was OLB coach) who both had a lot of similar qualities, though they were better testers.
if safety werent in play relatively early i think they'd have signed a veteran starter by now (though i think the same is true of WR, DL, CB). here's the mcginn blurb with comments from a few different nfl scouts on him:

Sorry for the delay in picking.
Sorry for the delay in picking.
Not early at all given his measurables and physical style... Had a great Senior Bowl... A great Combine... Can play inside or out... Don't be surprised if he sneaks into RD1

Maybe you think its a bit early but his 'tape' is fantastic, he's feisty as hell and his testing was elite at the combine. I think he's a player.

He went in the first round of the Ourlads mock last night
