Extensive review for all 32 NFL teams. Here is write-up for the Giants:
APY added: $63.6M (10th) | APY lost: $48.9M (23rd) | APY differential: $14.7M (6th)
"Only the Falcons invested less than the Giants in re-signing their own players this offseason..." "The Giants... landed Brian Burns from Carolina for... one very large price ($28.2 million APY on an extension).
“I actually like the stuff that they did,” an exec said. “Saquon is a good back, but you are talking about a running back. (Devin) Singletary is going to produce as much as Saquon did for them at a fraction of the cost. They may get a better version of Brian Burns than Carolina was getting, because there is a human element to it. You don’t like where you are playing, you are not having success, it affects you.”
“The narrative there can’t be that their defense took a step back without Wink (Martindale), because if that happens, the media is going to say, ‘See, the head coach is unable to do this, that and the other,'” an exec said. “I see Brian Burns giving the new coordinator a chance at having a better defense than Wink had, which I think matters there, given where they are at and all that has happened.”
"But you're talking about a RB" ---ok, Whatever that means. Then he says Singletary will do the same thing as Saquon did here. So all RBS are the same I guess. That's 100% false but ok.

It really isn’t false. Saquon didn’t have a great year last year.
This^
My pleasure! I just wish it wasn't behind a paywall, otherwise I would have posted the entire piece.
Incidentally, regarding Brian Burns... clearly he in an upgrade from Azeez Ojulari and Oshane Ximines (who's no longer on the team.) And he makes for a nice complement of Kayvon Thibodeaux. But from the moment the deal was announced, I've had a deep conviction that Brian Burns in Joe Schoen's #1 insurance policy if he lets Thibs walk, which is a distinct possibility IMO.

It will be a good litmus test to see how Singletary/RB Committee does vs a Saquon. Hopefully we will be satisfied with the overall production. I wager some of us will be.

He's is so freaking overrated.
He's is so freaking overrated.
he got a lot out of a very talent deficient unit in 2022 but then regressed with a more talented unit in 2023. hard guy to evaluate. clearly not elite but also not incompetent. he did seem to have an eye for how to get more out of individual players (okereke, lawrence, banks and thibs were good picks, etc).
i could see bowen being an upgrade or a downgrade. his defense is a big swing factor on the year. with burns it should be better.
Eh I disagree there. We went into last season with a rookie starting at more than 1 corner position, had just 2 pass rushers playing. When they hired Wink, it was to rebuild the defense. He got fired for what seems like valid reasons but it doesn't seem accurate to say they got everything for the defense and he just flopped.
