Remove the injury history, keep his production and now his pro day results. Does that change your stack rank of preferred QBs to draft this year? Does he leapfrog anyone? Does your mind change on taking him at 6?
Currently I have the top 6 QB's ranked as Daniels, McCarthy, Williams, Maye, Penix, Nix. There is definitely a gap between Maye and Penix. If Penix did not have the injury history it is probably a coin flip between him and McCarthy because of the prospect of Evan Neal guarding his blind side. If we also had the OL to support Penix he would be QB2 without injuries.
he’s probably neck and neck with Daniels. Polar opposite players but it would be interesting to see which Washington prefers. They probably still go for the shiny object though and Penix is a Patriot.
Watching him or McCarthy does nothing for me. The only QB that has actually wowed me from this class is Williams and he will be long gone (and I think he is a headcase anyway so I'm not sad he'll be gone). Daniles and Maye I find interesting but none of them really scream out NFL franchise guy to me. But that's just my own half informed opinion lol.
With McCarthy I think of Leinart for some reason... probably because of the "pocket presence and reading defenses talking points... everyone had Leinart pegged as this genius on reading defenses and it never translated to the NFL and he was obviously a winning QB with good stats at a highly ranked program. And the NFL is littered with guys like that because everyone wants to draft a franchise QB and you have to take your shots higher in the draft if you like one of the popular guys... It just colors my opinion so hard on this QB or bust draft mindset so many BBI'ers seem to have.
Mrs. Lincoln quite enjoyed Out American Cousin, other than you know. Pennix could have left his injuries in the past but at least for NYG with DJ injury drama it seems like a crazy risk to take on.
If JJM is getting this much hype, how does a healthy Penix not get that attention?
Late first round grade. QB5. Closer to JJM than he is to Nix IMO.

Watch his tape from Indiana in 2019. His footwork was different/better. He would drive forward on the right foot and rotate through the ball.
His footwork/throwing off his back foot seems to stem from his inability to drive through his injured leg.
Idk how he would rate if the injury never happened but his mechanics clearly suffered from the injuries.
Daniels - running
Penix - passing
I think that's the top group. The other three need more projection to talk yourself into them, but I'd take any of the six over what we've got now.
His first four years were marred by injuries and really mediocre play.

Yep.
