Forget the draft for a minute, let’s talk about the roster.

From Eric’s roster page, the Giants currently have 72 signed leaving 18 open slots. Assuming no trades, they have 6 picks and maybe they sign 8-10 UDFAs.
That leaves 2-4 (plus maybe a few cuts) available for unsigned vets. Any favorites out there? They can certainly use a safety and another DL.
the biggest and most glaring roster hole if we had to play a game

by June is CB....

nothing else even comes close.

we need another outside CB in the veteran FA market.

QB, RB, TE, WR, OL, ST, DL, ILB, OLB, S even slot CB with holes back, i can at least see a respectable - mind you not playoff caliber - but a plan at the position or respectable starter at those positions. especially if Eluemunor plays G.
At this point

I don't see a real "impact" signing. Anyone they sign at this point would be "back of the roster", JAG or training camp filler. It would be nice to catch lightening in a bottle, but the odds are not favorable. I do like the RB signing the other day, however. It's the type of move that a thorough front office would make....leave no stone unturned.
I would probably agree with getting a safety and another DL.

Bobby Okereke has apparently been pushing for Julian Blackmon, but I'm not really a fan of Blackmon's skillset as a safety because seemed to play better closer to the box. Personally I would go with Justin Simmons on a one-year deal.

The other position is defensive end. Bowen typically had Denico Autry play that role and the Giants traded for Brian Burns, but can Burns handle the rigors while being 35lbs lighter? Wink typically didn't have defensive ends since he had Thibs, Ojulari, and Ward playing from a two-point stance (I have my own problems with that but that's another discussion) and the other defensive linemen on the roster don't really have the maneuverability to play outside. The only other option currently is Riley Anderson and he's mostly been an afterthought. Could Marlon Davidson be an option as a one-year flyer? He apparently played best outside the tackle and was a decent run defender with some pass-rush ability.

The roster, uh, it ain't, uh, good.
The roster is finally in good enough shape to have some chance

There is at least some hope we're not rolling with bottom of the league units on the OL among other spots. The OL upgrades along with the edge, RB, TE additions are significant. Yes. they need WR, CB which could be draft additions. The offseason has been pretty good so far. More to come.
After the draft

I can see a vet signing at Safety and or CB. DT is the other position.

I think Howard or Simmons could be possible.

at S we have Mills. at DT we have Roches. at slot CB we have Holmes.

Those are not world beaters, but respectable division 2 starters.

we have zero at outside CB next to Banks. not even that caliber.
Based on the roster

We have some clear needs in the draft. WR and CB are high priority. DT is probably 3rd. We dont have any weapons on offense. Not one player on O that a DC will have to worry about.

Our CB situation is very thin. Banks still has to prove he's a true #1 CB and the other side is an open competition of guys who we were looking to upgrade. The Giants are clearly looking for a CB based on FA and visits.

Unfortunately we are going into the draft with major holes and this causes teams to overdraft players. This is why I think we need to follow the strength of the draft and stay put at 6 and grab the alpha dog WR. Thats a player that will change the offense and open things up. A QB will not change much for the Giants short term, these QBs need time, they are not plug and play. If we trade up for a QB and give away our #1 next year I believe that will be a top 5 pick. It will be the worst to have a terrible season and have our top 5 pick go to some other team.

We need stars at skill positions and that position is WR. It aligns with us perfectly.

4 top 107 picks.

we need 4 starters at CB, DT, WR at bare minimum from this draft.

all 3 premium positions on day 1/2 of the draft or top 100ish picks.

one of those 4 target your project QB.

Blackmon resigned with the Colts.
I don't see any of them wanting to go to the Giants unless....

they're the last chair remaining when the music stops but I would like to see a veteran WR, especially if its QB in round one. If Robinson and Hyatt don't take big steps that is one awful group and it's not like RB or TE is going to come riding to the rescue. I would love to see the Giants sit a rookie QB for a year but you know if things start poorly which is more likely than not a good part of the fan base and talking heads are going to scream for the rookie who will then be out there behind an average at very best OL with terrible skill position players and that's not how his career needs to start!
The O-line was a disaster, last year ....

Other people have been brought in, (no significant names) are they just different checker board pieces ?

2023 Pro Bowler Saquon Barkley is gone, somebody named Singletary is now the starter backed up by the same corps of nobodies .....

The Giants haven't had a ligit tight end since Jeremy Shockey, (several JAGs are now being signed).

Several new coaches have been signed, I'm optimistic they'll squeeze more out of the roster, at least I hope this will be the case.
I'd bet my thumbs there's a FA signing post-draft

Steven Nelson is a quality starter. Mercenary type that's been with 3 or 4 teams the last few years...but hes started ever game over the last 5 or 6 seasons. His season in Philly overlaps with Brandon Brown. Brown would've been the director of pro scouting at that time ('21), so he would definitely be familiar.
