This episode was a delight for Giants fans and BBI.
Dave was fantastic as usual, and Jerry and Chris did an excellent job probing his insights. YouTube - ( New Window )
Listened this morning. Great listen. & unlike previous times, I felt like Chris & Jerry held back a lot so Sy could take center stage, as he should. & that's not meant as a knock on Chris & Jerry; I like them both, but there was one previous time where they had Sy on & Sy wasn't getting nearly as much time as the guest.
I just finished with the QB talk in this. Some notable Maye comments ...
"Have you ever seen a basketball player make three 3s in a row and then miss a layup?"
He brought up another really good point. Everyone compares Maye to Allen but Allen is a unicorn. He said teams hit on a Josh Allen like once every ten times. He said what makes Allen so great is his toughness. He's like Roethlisberger where guys are hanging all over him and he still makes plays. He said when it comes to Maye he has at least 8 examples of a 3rd or 4th and 1 and he's "soft".
My opinion is I think I know what I want now. Stay at 6, don't give up future picks, and take either JJM or one of the top 3 WR.

I would trade no more than a 2025 2nd and 3rd to get up to 4 if needed for Maye or JJM. Maye is too boom or bust for me to trade the farm.
Yes, and that seems clear at this point. Question is do we trade pick 6, 47 2035 1st and 3rd or so for him or McCarthy for just pick 6 maybe slightly more?
If Joe & Dabs aren't in love enough to move up for a QB/don't feel like one warrants being selected @ 6, Rome would be a great pick IMO. I see a lot of Hakeem Nicks in him. And I still contend Nicks had HOF potential if his body didn't betray him.

If not for that one game in Tampa, Nicks and Cruz don't get hurt and we probably don't look in Beckham's direction.
You can’t just completely ignore the rest of the roster. This team needs a lot of good players and when you want to build through the draft you can’t just trade all your premium picks away.
There are Penix-type QBs every year. No need to panic-draft Penix.
I’m really torn.
I think JS and BD are VERY high on Maye. If they have that kind of conviction, go get him.
IF that proves not possible, I’m not sure you “settle” for JJM over a guy who is a difference maker and a force multiplier for the WR room.
Sy has ALL three WRs as 90+ guys.
For those not familiar with his grading system.
That’s an ALL-PRO potential player, all 3 of them!
When was the last time NYG had that kind of a difference maker at WR?
A guy like Odunze is a more talented and faster Plaxico. Let that sink in a minute.
I’m not saying get one of these guys to make Jones better.
It’s to get a guy who will be the center piece of your pass offense, no matter who the QB is.
It’s not about kicking the can down the road.
It’s about getting THIS level of player while you can.
I’m really torn.

It's greater than that... there is no one on our offense right now that scares anyone.
The Giants are in a pickle because they need a QB. But they also need play-makers.

I don't think you can go wrong with sitting at 6 and letting it play out. For as much as I want the QB missing on a trade up, to me, us the only unforgivable outcome. I imagine there will be some general disappointment on draft night if we don't come away with a QB, but if the dominos do fall that way it's going to be one hell of a consolation.
Also, sounds like multiple WRs are going to have plus 90 grades, which equates to All Pro caliber. He is highest on Harrison Jr. & Rome.
I'd prefer (1)JJM or (2)Odunze at 6 to trading the farm for Maye.
This. Stay at 6. We all know Jones isn't the answer but mortgaging the future for a Qb rarely works. And even some of the top rated guys like Trevor Lawrence haven't been instant successes. Does t mean you pass on a guy you love but the trade the farm for a QB seems just unwise
Without Barkley, Waller and an uncertain QB situation they will have traded away a top 10 or perhaps a top five pick. It would erase half the fan base.
This year’s quarterback and next year’s wide receiver will thank you.
The only name receiver the team had in its four Superbowl seasons was Plax, who may have been the difference-maker in the Conference title game but caught only two passes in the Superbowl.
Guys named Baker and Ingram and Tyree and Manningham made the big plays, and were out of football two or three years later.

I think this is all but a lock, Daniels is so much safer while still having immense upside vs Maye. They are on different tiers imp.
Lol

Maye is just way too boom or bust for my liking to trade the farm for him, but then again that's why NE would trade the pick in the first place.
I'd prefer (1)JJM or (2)Odunze at 6 to trading the farm for Maye.
If they stay at 6 and don't go QB, the Giants come away with a great WR!

Agreed.

Get the ball to Hyatt and Wandale before assuming they're just bad.

They're not "bad" but they don't have a #1, and it's tough to win in the NFL without one.

Yes, it’s extremely annoying.
