Just because the Nabers rumors are heating up, a little pattern Eric in Li and I kicked around after the college season -- Schoen has picked a 3rd year SEC WR with 1200+ receiving yards in each of his first two drafts. Nabers would make it 3/3.
The talent level of the SEC is obviously second to none -- but I wonder what how much influence Daboll's time, familiarity, connections etc. come into play.
then to be honest, I am a little embarrassed at who we have throwing to him.
Mind you, Tommy Cutlets launching them to him would be fun.
Lock may not be a superstar QB, but he can get the ball out to the receivers, he can sling it.
Lock is underated IMO.
Also, as much as I would love either Maye or McCarthy this year, we actually have no idea how the 2024 college season will shake out and which QB's will shine and prove to be worth a top 10 selection in the 2025 draft. Case in point, Daniels and McCarthy were complete after thoughts in the preseason.
Bottom line for me, the pick at 6, whether it is a WR or a QB, needs to be a player that elevates the team. The Giants just don't have enough of them.
If is a WR this year, fine. Check that box and move on.
Nabers is the WR in my view who can elevate the team.
His YAC ability can have a Beckham-like impact.
OBJ comments are appropriate, I agree, possibly the most impactful. Also the most likely to be a diva. Odunze, MHjr Nabers is my preference for the big three.
RE: It makes sense, look at the WR talent the SEC has produced the last 10

i would argue that all 3 of chase/waddle/smith elevated the teams they went to right away, chase obviously the most but i think all 3 guys this year are closer to chase than the latter 2.
odunze's smoothness and ball skills at catch point remind me of smith - except he's 45 pounds heavier and faster. that is a highly appealing package for me.
nabers explosiveness/upside at 20 years old is also appealing even if there's maybe a little extra rawness with his game.
im reminded a lot of the waddle vs smith discussions in 2021, except both prospects are bigger/better this time around. it would not surprise me if like then both end up very good picks right away.
Receivers in general add value right away. Eleven receivers drafted in 2023 had 500+ yards, five (plus Dell if he didn't get hurt) would have led the Giants in receiving yards.
I think all four of the top guys (BTJ included) project to be 1K guys in year one.
My feelings on Nabers are Giants specific. They don't have a quarterback who has demonstrated the ability to get the ball downfield. So my guess is the receiver who would succeed the most given the circumstances is the player with most elusiveness with ball in hand. To my eyes that's Nabers.
While the Giants may select Nabers because they like his game, the
Are the top QBs I'm eyeing if we don't get a qb this year. It's not like next year's draft is bad for qb, just mid. Quinn Ewers will be up there too.
Next years draft is bad for qb.
Bad is Kenny Pickett first qb off the board in 20s. It's going to be mediocre, not bad. I want JJM at 6 and think he could have been up there competing for #1 pick next year. This year is very good for qb, next year is mediocre but it isn't bad.

I don't think JJM was an afterthought in the preseason, JD certainly was.
RE: While the Giants may select Nabers because they like his game, the
fact that he's a 3rd year SEC player probably won't be a significant factor.
Other than the head coach of the Giants was an offensive coordinator in the SEC and presumably has both strong connections and understands the level of competition and defense?

This! Make it so, Schoene.
If I had to Bet, we are going Nabers or JJM while staying at 6. MHJ, Nwbers or JJM will be there. Daboll is salivating at the thought of unleashing Nabers from everywhere on the field as a true Z.

Let's reserve embarrassment for things we actually have a reason to be embarrassed about. I really don't see how we'd stick with Jones this year if he can't get it done with an improved OL and a WR corps Mahomes would salivate over. Lock or DeVito would take over for sure.
bigger jaylen waddle,
bigger/faster devonta smith,
or bigger jamarr chase.
not really any losing in those choices.
Just pretend this is kindergarten and you will get a gold star for sharing...! :)
Wow, the legend of Robinson begins.

You clearly have the wrong idea of what he posted. If the “>” is so confusing for you, reading the rest of his OP should have clued you in…
Next years draft is bad for qb.
Seems like a guy who is going to do whatever it takes.
Say what now?
A lot of people are sleeping on the penn state QB, Allar

I'm not quite sure why anyone would be down on Quinn Ewers either.

Maybe, but he was just a true sophomore.
