@AlbertBreer
Georgia TE Brock Bowers and OT Amarius Mims had their makeup Pro Day today. Bowers, at 241 pounds, looked explosive/moved well. Mims declined to weigh in. Both only did position drills—no testing for either.

Giants TEs coach Tim Kelly, Jets TEs coach Ron Middleton were on hand.

Brock Bowers

IMO, is never getting to top 10 consideration by any team. Top 15, yeah probably, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he falls to mid-late first.
I'm not for drafting him at 6

Bowers does bring two things to the table the Giants could use. One he is a good blocker which would help the OL. Two he is a very good receiver which would help the passing game

If they got bowers

in a decent trade back, I wouldn't see how that is bad. Shockey, Boss, the giants need one.
I went to UGA...

... so I watch a lot of Dawgs football.

Bowers is an elite prospect. His combination of acceleration, size and toughness is perhaps the best I've ever seen at the position... he really jumps off the screen.

That said: I worry that he'll be injury prone at the next level. It's the way he plays the game... he's tough, and he'll fight through contact and go for extra yards. But that's gonna take a toll over time.

I wouldn't take him at #6 if I were the Giants. But he warrants consideration in that range for the right team/fit... he is absolutely a top 10 type "blue chip" prospect.
He's a unicorn talent and would be a big addition to the offense

for years to come. It's a reach at #6 to take him given the WRs and maybe QB available, but he'd be a great selection in a trade down scenario. Pick up another #2, and they add Bowers, plus a WR and a CB.

I'm not happy with the QB situation, but the roster as a whole needs talent everywhere. Would be happy with a trade down and Bowers scenario.
Or maybe they take the QB at 6, then trade back into the first for

Bowers … the WR class is deep and a very good one might still be available later. Remember the Puka!

one thing many of the current top teams have in common is a legit difference maker at TE. I don't think the Giants are going in this direction, but I wouldn't dismiss it.
Bowers Will Be Good
MojoEd : 4/10/2024 5:08 pm : link
He dominated in the SEC as a true freshman; just an uncanny ability to make plays and make it look easy. Positional value may DQ him for NYG, but some team is going to get a great player.
Teams in disarray just don’t seem to take advantage of a draft.
ThomasG : 4/10/2024 5:35 pm : link
Bowers would be a great pick for the NYG but they aren’t in the right cycle or timing to do so because of previous year’s screw ups.

It gets better right?

Jets have no issue with QB and could afford to get a talent like Bowers. They feel like adding some vets in FA will fix their line but they should look there first and foremost.

Giants should not.

Thomas Dimitroff thinks the Giants should serious look at the TE.

Jets have no issue? Their QB is approaching 40 and coming of an torn Achilles
I feel like the TE coach’s voice

may not quite carry the same weight as some others within the org.
Bowers
gmenrule : 4/11/2024 10:16 am : link
would be a godsend for the Jets. They have the WRs now and Bowers would be a safety valve (plus more) for their grey-beard QB. He'd be all-pro first year.

TE seems like a tough position to scout though. Many first round TEs flop, and the best in the game currently were a 5th rounder (Kittle) and a 3rd (Kelce).
