Question about Andre Patterson and Kafka

Jay7852 : 4/10/2024 9:58 pm
Andre Patterson is the man! His work unlocking Dexter Lawrence was amazing. Unfortunately, seems like he wanted to leave? Is it a foregone conclusion that he will be leaving after this season? Same with Kafka, both were blocked by the Giants from taking other jobs. Really hope he doesn’t “mail this season in” and him and Daboll can figure it out.

A request to interview someone does not necessarily mean that person wants to leave.

Kafka wants to be a HC. The worst thing he can do is "mail it in."
patterson was interviewing at best a slight promotion but it was

really a lateral move.

Kafka has a gripe imo.

the way he was treated he likely wanted to leave and its unlikely imo he will be calling plays which is huge for OCs to get HC jobs.

but to be fair i think close to half the league head coaches are actively calling plays, so its not a dealbreaker to get a HC job. so kafka will still have a chance if they have a good season.
The Giants should treat Patterson, like Henderson

A secret weapon, that stays no matter which DC/ HC comes and goes.

I do not blame Patterson, he had a chance to play for an old coach of his, while the DC was leaving.

These asset, especially the older ones....want stability and a steady pay check.....do not want to move family around etc, etc.

I hope the Giants made that clear.

Kafka is different....he will leave eventually...hopefully giving the Giants a comp, pick.....but Daboll is offense minded.....they can replace from within.

I suspect Patterson wants to be a DC & Kafka wants to be a HC, i.e. both want a promotion. What's wrong in that?
Not a fan of Kafka

so if he wants to leave, fine by me. Nobody has a clue as to how he was "treated" so spare me the BS. Guy seems to design very good plays, but IMV calls a poor game - doesn't seem to have a feel for the flow.

Patterson on the other hand....
Maybe I missed something on Coach Dre’… but I know he’s had a long

association with Zimmer, who wanted him to come to Dallas with him when he got hired … the Giants said no to the interview because he’s under contract. End of story ? Why do you think he wants to leave? Zimmer / McCarthy are no safer in Dallas than Dabs is here and both could be gone in a year.
It's mind blowing that Wink never let Patterson

Get his hands on Thibs. He's a LB, I get it, but EDGE fights in the trenches too.

Go to Twitter, Cowboy's fans are already talking about who replaces Mike McCarthy next season
I highly doubt Kafka will "Mail it In"

even if hes stuck here, his resume still needs work. If he can turn around a pathetic Giants offense he can use that to help get a Head Coach job. If Daboll strips him of play calling this year thats kind of a scummy move by Daboll. Block a guy from leaving and basically demote him. In my eyes taking the play calling away is a demotion and a bad look for Kafka.

As for Patterson, I think the Giants dont want to lose him but he saw the whole rift with Wink and thats who he was hired to work with. He has another season to see if he can work with Bowen. If not he will most likely leave which would be a big blow because he is a great DL coach.
