Kansas St TE Ben Sinnott visiting the Giants

Eric from BBI : Admin : 4/11/2024 11:43 am
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet

Kansas St TE Ben Sinnott, maybe the most versatile in the draft, is visiting the #Giants today and he was in Carolina with the #Panthers yesterday.

The testing numbers — 4.68 40, 40-inch vert, 10’6 broad, 6.82 three-cone, 4.23 shuttle — were either No. 1 or near the top.

2) Ben Sinnott – Kansas State – 6’4 / 250

Grade: 79

Two-year starter. Earned first team All-Big 12 honors in both 2023 and 2022. Recipient of the 2023 Lowman Award, the top fullback in the country. Coming from a small high school with zero FBS offers and a potential hockey future, Sinnott opted to walk-on for Kansas State as a 205-pound roster hopeful. The gap from where he started to where he is right now says a lot about him. He is winner, plain and simple. Sinnott does so many of the little things that the common eye may not always pick up initially. The on-field IQ, in addition to the grit and talent, gives him a sense of completeness that can be hard to find. He can line up in several positions and roles and provide impact in the passing game with sure hands and after-catch grit.

*Sinnott went from day three to round two with his combination of quality play and top-shelf combine. Not only were his workout numbers fantastic, but his ball skills and positional drills were graded higher than every tight end that worked out there. Add in the intangibles and versatility, Sinnott simply has a “useful” label to him. He will line up everywhere, he will make plays that surprise you, and he can block. He is an ideal tight end in today’s game. I see some Sam LaPorta in him.

NFL Comparison: Sam LaPorta / DET
Sy likes him much more than Brugler

Again *these* are the visits to take note of, not the obvious top-10 picks. Sinnott is projected as a fourth-round pick by @dpbrugler. Would make sense for the Giants to take a TE in the middle rounds with the Waller uncertainty

Maybe Waller will make a decision on retirement before 2189…
Wouldn't mind him at 70

Somebody will complain
Breeze_94 : 4/11/2024 11:53 am : link
But I would not mind

1. Nabers
2. Benson
3. Sinnott

This assuming Maye does not fall into their laps, or come at a reasonable price…

Rebuild the core of the offense. This offense needs life, badly. Daboll is an offensive head coach. They have added OL and depth in FA, have good complementary pieces - but they still lack talent when it comes to playmakers.

Then use the final 3 picks on DL/secondary. Maybe add a cheap FA CB like Witherspoon.

He won't last that long.
He’s one guy Matt Waldman mentioned

That he really likes on the most recent “The Audible” podcast.
Around 27:00 mark - ( New Window )
I haven't seen him play, but Sy's write-up is very tempting

He's Waldan's TE2.

Waller's made a decision. We are just waiting to hear after the draft.
Watched a bit

My impression is he may be this years Sam Laporta. Profiles very similarly. They would need to take him at 47, I would think…

Watched a couple of his games.
Very interesting prospect.

He is very hard to tackle, has great balance, and functional strength.
He gets good movement on the line and is very good at second-level blocking.

I did not see many deep passes he appears to be more of a possession receiver, which may be the result of KS game plan.

I think that he is a good developmental prospect.
Go Wildcats!

Don't think Waller's retirement should influence a draft pick...

He's often injured, anyway, and we certainly need depth.
I think Bells is gonna

bounce back some as a receiver next year. Didn't we already sign 2 TEs who can block? Not sure, with potential needs at CB and maybe WR that TE is a Day 2 priority, especially at 47. Assuming we even end up with Day 2 picks
He reminds of Dallas Clark with physicality
Tuckrule : 4/11/2024 8:58 pm : link
I see some Dawson Knox as well with the toughness and blocking ability. Would love to see him in blue but as others have said would have to pick 47 which may be too rich for us. How is he TE2 on some boards that means he’s ahead of Theo Johnson. IMO that’s crazy.

He could make it to 70, not unreasonable. He's rd2 to Sy, rd4 to Brugler.
