He retweeted Matt Miller's tweet about Giants not targeting a passer in round 1, but states that his sourced belief is that Giants are still targeting JJM.
I've been thinking this as well and that the Maye stuff may be a bit of a smokescreen, especially with Schoen supposedly being upset with Connor Hughes report of them wanting JJM.

The only one is no defense with the No.6 pick.

And this is how it should be leading up to the draft.
Exactly my thought. I think a lot of stuff is getting thrown out intentionally, then the room shrinks.

In the voice of Bob Uecker... "Obviously Schoen's thinking....I don't know what the hell he's thinking"
For whatever reason I feel JJM and Maye are 1a and 1b, respectively, and assuming Williams and Daniels are both off the board.
Agreed. One of the supposed leaks has to have truth to it, but who knows which.

Its like that episode of The Office where Stanley was having an affair and MIchael let that out of the bag. So he tried covering it up but spreading tons of false rumors.
Vikes love multiple QB's - ( New Window )
I don't think Daniels makes it past 2. I don't think NYG is trading back. I don't think Penix is in play at 6. And I don't think Odunze would be selected ahead of Harrison or Nabers.
Ha, great episode.
My hope is that they are perfectly content staying at 11 and taking one of Penix/Nix (I'd think Penix) and not giving up the kings ransom to move up. Hoping the draft order 1-6 stays exactly as is and Giants get one of Maye or JJM, though my preference is the latter.
Yup…maybe the Giants are even intentionally leaking different rumors to perpetuate the fog of what they want to do. But I suspect a lot of it is made up
Example: The Giants meet with JJH and someone says they were impressed by him. But what does that actually mean? They could be very impressed with him as a person, but not like him enough as a QB to even think about drafting him in the first round.
I don't trust any of the reports, it's also just clickbait, especially the ones that refer to "the buzz" on who the Giants like (which is another way of saying I heard from a friend who heard it from his sister-in-law's podiatrist who heard it from the shoe salesman who fitted Schoen's wife's best friend with a pair of sneakers). Even a broken clock is right twice a day and that will be the case with whomever is right about what the Giants do in the draft.
Amen to that

Or more likely, whose sources guessed correctly. I don't think anyone in the media is getting their info from people in the know and instead getting it from people who are speculating and/or extrapolating based on isolated comments from people inside Giants headquarters.

Things have gotten out. However, this regime knows how to play the media.

Bingo.
Yes and no. For example, the Giants may really want to trade up for Maye, but they may simply not be able to do it.

Agreed. I think it is all dependent on Washington at #2. They take Daniels and now game is on for a possible move up to #3. If Daniels and then Maye go, I think we stay at 6 for JJM or trade down if he is not there. The one thing I think we don't do is take a WR at 6 (unless it is MHJ).

how we are handling leaks... Just over leak crap out also.
Bingo.
The original Connor Hughes report about us loving JJM which supposedly angered Schoen was interesting, and this wouldn't fly in the face of that. Seems like there's a good chance Schoen is hoping (with some intel to substantiate his hope) that JJM will be there at 6 if the Vikings outbid us for Maye. Seems like a solid backup option. Now if the Vikings trade through LAC's pick 5 to get to 3 then I could see NE taking JJM there, but if NE trades direct with Minnesota I think there's a very good chance JJM makes it to 6. Or if NE takes JD/Maye at 3 and Minnesota doesn't want to pay the same price for JJM ad they were going to for Maye, then JJM will likely make it to 6 as well. If neither of those happen we either get Maye for a reasonable deal, take WR at 6 or trade back (hopefully not further than the Bear's pick 9 with 2 receivers on the board and a likely chance to get Nabers/Odunze at 9).
I thought it was a longer 3 weeks so thanks for making my day a little bit better.

9) There was a report that they were intrigued by Alt.
Maybe someone can add another report and make it an even 10.
I’m sure all the QB needy teams like multiple players.
Can’t wait for the draft party. A long two weeks it will be

Burnt out on it, I'm guessing he means. I love all the studying and speculation and anticipation that goes into it. You end up knowing the whole NFL quite well by following the draft deeply every year and following how the players do in the NFL. Do that for 10 years and you know a lot about every team. I think it's the most fun and exciting time of the year, especially when your team is awful lol
This would be Jones all over again, and I don’t think Schoen is as incompetent as the previous GM.
The Mara family has always been thin skinned and overly concerned about what is written and said about them even though they have been given a free pass by the media since the day George Young was hired.
One of the easiest ways to make sure no matter how bad the team performs on the field that the talking points about the Giants are that the Mara's are the classiest owners in the NFL and the Giants are flagship franchise is to have friends in the media continue write that and talk that.
The price for all that good PR and writers and talkers carrying their water is access to information.

This is why Getts just drafted Saquon. He wasn’t smart enough to keep track of all the options and rumors.

Not sure what is sillier to believe or care about, that it was leaked that Schoen likes JJM or that he was mad that people found out.

I've seen some reports that Raiders are honing in on tackle or cb at pick 13, not qb. Which makes sense and is congruent with how my Raiders friends feel.
I think there's a chance we see Penix slide within range of trading pick 47 and 2025 2nd for him somewhere between 25-32ish. Odunze and Penix would be really exciting, I'd rather that than just about any other outcome I think.
