Perhaps we trade up for Maye with pick 6, 2025 3rd and Neal? Then go Beebe rd2? I could see another team liking Neal more than we do and he still has 2 years left on the cheap.
I still think Neal can have a William Roberts like career, where he's moved to guard & excels. Probable? I wouldn't put $ on it, but it wouldn't shock me if that went down. & the dude needs to remain on the field too...people are going to get on his performance- & rightly so-but he's missed significant time in both '22 & '23.
Let him stop worrying about playing in space and he's going to dominate people.
The one thing I'd still worry about is picking up stunts and twists, that seems like more of a vision/communication thing.
Maybe he would be better at that if he was more comfortable and confident not worrying about being on a island in space? I think Eleumanor wins the RT job in camp if it's an open competition as it should be.
The Giants have to make a 5th year option decision after this season. If they intend on moving him to guard, now is the time. I think it's a little silly to project any kind of future for him. Right now he's a disappointment, and has faced both injury and performance issues. Hopefully he can rebuild his value at guard.
I think it is a little shortsighted to move him to guard now
without letting the new coach work with him. He's more valuable to us at OT so he should be given the opportunity to fail before being moved. Our entire OL sucked last year and the year before outside of Andrew Thomas.
Gonna understand how you can graduate from IMG Academy, be a huge, dominant RT for 2 years on an absolutely blue chip college program - including winning a national championship - then come to the pros and be utterly incapable of playing.

It's a little easier when you're Evan Neal's size and you're going up against guys who would never come close to even making the XFL.

You do realize that Neal played in the SEC, right?
that Neal's height makes him ill suited to be a guard.
I remain hopeful that the primary problem was coaching. He has played about one season of total games. If he can stay healthy and get good coaching maybe he can become an adequate to good RT.
it is painfully obvious the man can't play tackle in the NFL full stop. Now we have to waste more time trying to see if he is salvagable at guard. Neal's trade value is zero guys wake up.

The jump from Alabama to the NFL is huge. Every player in the NFL was a great player in college.
he has been terrible as a Tackle
He might be terrible as a Guard
Give him another second to pretend he is a Tackle
If he fails hope you can salvage him as Guard
Keep fingers crossed
He gets injured because he struggles with his balance and trying to
Excuse me, a very good Left Tackle
separate paragraphs. But I might be wrong?
You could be right and I thought about that but I didn't see any indication of that in the text.
He's lost his confidence at T, and it's sad.

They are all different college coaches.
If you go back and re-read the Athletic's draft preview, they LOVED Neal at tackle, including left tackle.
Loony!
‘Now what he said was ‘Sic’em boy!’ But what I heard was ‘Chopper! Sic balls!’

he's crazier than a shit house rat.

Probably my most memorable movie growing up.
I know we have at least two OL coaches….I hope we have a smart consultant on the sideline to advise as well.
I agree with you completely. I think they wanna give the new OL Coach the chance to work with him there w little though before making that transition.
Very doubtful.
Yes coach...

If he doesn’t have to cover a lot of ground then he can keep his balance and really use his great size and strength.

All teams have them.
Yet our GM wen back and looked at EVERY snap Neal took at Bama for all 3 years and concluded “he’s a tackle”
I wonder who we should trust more? Hmmm
He was definitely the obvious pick there to me and I'm hopeful CB can fix our guys but that's a weird thing to read

Eric didn't think it was an obvious pick, he was prophetically against taking a RT at 7.

Let Bricillo re-evaluate Neal, Let him make the determination whether he can cut it and be coached up to tackle or move him to guard.
