bigblue5611 : 4/15/2024 10:13 am
based on what he thinks Schoen will do.

Quote:
First round: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
Second round: Ruke Orhorhoro, DT, Clemson
Third round: Andru Phillips, CB, Kentucky
Fourth round: Theo Johnson, TE, Penn State
Fifth round: Isaac Guerendo, RB, Louisville
Sixth round: Mohamed Kamara, Edge, Colorado State

No thanks.
Duggan must've read Sy's DT review this morning
nyjuggernaut2 : 4/15/2024 10:26 am : link
before doing that mock :)
I would be surprised if the Giants did not draft an offensive lineman
JohnB : 4/15/2024 10:31 am : link
During the draft process, we want playmakers. In the middle of the season, we want the Giants to draft on the OLine.

Fix the offensive line first!
To note
bigblue5611 : 4/15/2024 10:31 am : link
The first 5 went as follows:

1. Williams (CHI)
2. Maye (WASH)
3. Daniels (NE)
4. MHJ (AZ)
5. Alt (LAC)

He also noted that he attempted to trade back into first for Nix (23. to MN) or Penix (28 to LV after trade with BUFF) but was unsuccessful in this mock.
I'd be pretty content
Larry from WV : 4/15/2024 10:34 am : link
more so If he replaced the first round with Rome.

Flip Maye and Daniels and this top 5 was my prediction 2 weeks ago. I then had a "?" at what the Giants will do at pick 6. Never sold on the JJ love that some of the beats are selling.
Woof

I'm the opposite, I'd love JJM on the Giants. Has some things to be worked on for sure (more touch on some passes being the biggest one), but I think he'd be great for Daboll's offense.
Like the first two picks
jeff57 : 4/15/2024 10:42 am : link
Guerendo and Johnson could be value picks as well.
I’d prefer Odunze over Nabers,
Section331 : 4/15/2024 10:48 am : link
although I wouldn’t quibble with either. Nabers is more of a slot but, and he struggles against press coverage. Odunze is more of a scheme fit given his ability to play outside.

I’d love Orhorhoro, I just don’t see him dropping to 47. I’d also be a little disappointed if no OL were taken.
Meh draft for me, but interestingly, both Duggan and Stapleton
Anakim : 4/15/2024 10:50 am : link
have us taking Johnson and Phillips

Comments like these crack me up. How do you that is an awful draft. What if several of those players end up being major contributors/Pro Bowlers?
seems

Says who?? Says me, that is a bleh draft. Any argument otherwise is just you saying you like those choices. Moving the needle has nothing to do with production as NOBODY will know that until later on...

"that is a bleh draft" I'm not even saying I like those picks. I'm saying, how do YOU know that is a bleh draft. Answer: you don't. Don't be dumb.
Good haul of players right there.
Andy in Halifax : 4/15/2024 11:27 am : link
I know a lot of us want a QB, but just looking that that potential class on its own, that's well done.
It’s ok to think a mock draft is bleh
Mike from Ohio : 4/15/2024 11:40 am : link
It’s a damned opinion, not a fact that has to be proven.

If we all can’t comment on the draft for several years to see who turns out good and bad, WTF is this site for?
I don't think I'd go DT
LW_Giants : 4/15/2024 11:44 am : link
in the second round, but I get the thought process. Make that the elite part of the team since the rest of it sucks.
Guerendo had a 9.97/10 RAS score
Blue Dog : 4/15/2024 11:49 am : link
Taking a shot on a freak who weighs in at 221lbs and runs a 4.33 40 in the 5th is a fun idea.
If we can't get a QB
Woodstock : 4/15/2024 11:49 am : link
I would be more than happy with this mock
I think this is a very solid draft.
Section331 : 4/15/2024 11:53 am : link
As I said, I’d prefer Odunze if he was still on the board, but Nabers is a dynamic athlete that would help this offense in a big way. Orhorhoro would be a steal at 47, Phillips would be a great get in the 3rd (and at a huge position of need. I really like the Theo Johnson pick, he’s a bit raw, but has the highest ceiling of any of the TE’s not named Brock Bowers.

I’d be surprised if no OL were taken, but this draft would fill a lot of holes.

It's more than that. We don't have a true 3-technique on the roster.
This is probably wildly unrealistic...
Vin_Cuccs : 4/15/2024 12:24 pm : link
...but Maye or Harrison would be the dream.

Outside of that, Nabers is a great consolation prize.

I have to admit...a developmental QB in the mid rounds would be nice and it is a little disappointing that there isn't one here.

Ok.. I'll bite. Where do you get the idea Nabers struggles against press coverage? He hasn't entered the NFL yet. In college he was open 100% of the time. Moreso than Odunza.

And Odunze is a terrible fit for the Giants, since the starting QB we presently have has never shown the ability to throw into contested catch situations and can't throw a fade.

I'm really at a point where there isn't much they can do that would make me upset. I feel like Theo Johnson would be a nice addition.

My thoughts as well. This is a solid draft.
I personally think it’s a great mock draft.

Like most of us,, I want a quarterback, but the reality is drafting a quarterback may not happen this year, given the circumstances. We will see.
No QB, but

If Penix makes it to the 28th pick, the Giants need to be the team that strikes a deal with Buffalo (who are without a 3rd round pick).

That's a good point. 28 is a logical trade spot especially considering Schoen and Beane's relationship. Would be a big drop for Buffalo though.
