Daniel Jones Worried about NYG Taking 1st Rd QB?

BleedBlue46 : 4/15/2024 9:42 pm

Does this look like the face of someone whom feels confident in his job security?

Many here were speculating Daniel Jones speaking to media was Mara's way of easing fans into the 2024 season with DJ, a new and improved offensive line and an elite WR prospect. This face makes me feel like Daniel is extremely insecure about his position as QB of the future for the NYG.

Probably the reaction of a player who realizes his time with the team could be limited.

Quite limited.

Best for all parties that Jones is cut the second after he can pass a physical.

I'm in the camp that you are overthinking this, I thought he looked fine, I have a lot of confidence in his ability to bounce back this year, he needs help from the o-line.
His answer at the 6:11 mark

he talks for about 15 secs ... his body language and facial expressions are fine for a guy that is on the hot seat. He is a bright guy, he understands the situation. He has shown to be a competitor he'll be fine if healthy. HS and college have competition at the spot as well.

He did not seemed bothered or irritated by any of the questions.
His behavior was really off

Shots of him in the players meeting too were very much unlike him.

But I'll go with, it was a zoom call and they can sometimes be difficult to track who is speaking, depending on what view you have set up.

Or..

He's coming off a surgery where he probably has been on some kind of pain medication and he's now using something else to help pick him up.

110% correct, this place is so QB centric, how much better can DJ be if he had a RT that was not a shopping cart? I really hope we traft Alt, that is the best thing for this team, Daniel Jones is not our problem.

This guy has no business being an NFL quarterback. Mara did everything in fact to screw up this kid when he drafted him to begin with. I have never seen a professional athlete so awkward and uncomfortable in a role than this kid is. And at the most important position of the most watched sport in the most scrutinized sports town in the world no less.

For the love of God Joe Schoen, please have the compassion to cut this kid as soon as he is healthy so he doesn't have to embarrass himself or this franchise ever again.

Anxiously touching his face was what made me wonder. And then this just didn't seem right. I feel for the guy, I really do. I know he's a 100 million dollar man and all, but that's not fulfilling his childhood dream of being a top NFL QB.

I do think all this has gotten to him. How could it not? Even if he is able to block out all the media, he still sees Mara saying if Schoen loves a QB he can go get him. This all coming just 1 year after he was slated as the future of the franchise and winner of our first playoff game in about a decade. Then it all comes crashing down 1 year later.

How could he not feel stressed, anxious and ambivalent about his future? Then you consider the fact that he might have concerns about his neck deep down and he's still recovering from a torn ACL. There's a lot going on behind those eyes, I guarantee it.

Again, at the risk of speculating, he really looks like he might have Graves disease. The bulging eyes and the difficulty focusing are symptoms.

If he did have part of his thyroid removed before the 2022 season, this very well could have been the reason.
Seems like a silly take
gary_from_chester : 4/16/2024 12:15 pm : link
Watched the video, nothing glaringly ‘off’ about DJ. Seemed to be a Zoom call and he would focus on the screen (bug eyes) when the question was being asked. Obviously, there is pressure on him - huge contract, rehabbing from significant injury, lots of chatter about first round WB - but he apparently is handling it as well as can be expected. No ‘smoking gun’ in the video I watched. The guy is under pressure and knows it, is taking care of what he has control of - his own rehab and prep.

Here is the thing he is set financially if he never plays another down and is well spoken and likable ie a broadcasting job is to had somewhere for some extra income post football. Injuries happen in football rehab and do the best he can do it'll all fall into place. It is all on his mind but he has shown to be an evenly balance guy rehabbing an injury and fighting for his spot is not new to him. Like he said he took advice from 2 guys that rehabbed the injury successfully. He'll be fine. Anyone would have considered all the potential outcomes negative and positive at some point. Why are people acting like that is isolated to him as a person??? We have seem players and coaches actually spazz out ... so if this is bad then we really need to be on Daboll's back for his interview and interpersonal communication tactics ...

I don't think anyone said it was bad, just clear to many here that he's got a lot on his mind and in no way is he the definitive future QB of the franchise like he was last year. It's a bit if a Rollercoaster ride for him in the past year.

I have never seen such a blah player get so much loyalty from this fan base. It is so fucking odd. Is it because he’s seemingly a nice kid who works hard? That applies to a lot of other people on the team who most wouldn’t give a shit about if cut tomorrow.

on DJ you wouldn’t have as many supporters or supposed supporters. But it’s a message board, people are bored and want to argue.

Eric should run a test on this. Make a pinned DJ only thread from now through the draft and I bet it’ll have a ton of traffic the first day or two and then fizzle out by the weekend.

I've been listening to JS and BD tell all he is the starter a number of times. I know many on this board disregard that as draft strategy, but I don't think so. It's seems obvious to me that they do have confidence in him and want to surround him with some help. Of course, health issues could change things. My opinion.

great villain Putin. Forget about Russia's history with Germany in World War II, and the expansion of NATO, and the numerous chances to settle this by diplomacy, including the draft peace treaty negotiated in the first months of the war.

It's easiest to just blame Jones for the team's failure, and this also makes the Giants easiest to fix. Just replace Jones.

Forget about 2022 and just give his 2023 teammates a bit of blame and we're almost ready to roll replacing Jones.

Next year will probably be his last, due to injuries and shell shock as much as lack of talent. Simms says he's certain Jones has the talent, and Mel Keiper said he's shown flashes of brilliance. You are probably right, but have not been fair to the guy.
