lost Patrick Kane and Tarasenko in the off season. They lost Chytil for pretty much the whole season, Kakko for months, Fox was on LTIR, Lindgren was on IR, Trouba was on IR, Wheeler for the rest of the season. Shesterkin was crap for over a month.
They are celebrating the presidents trophy despite it.

after the really bad Dec/Jan period that they righted themselves and finished the season with the best record. It wasn't easy. There were games where it looked like they weren't going to score only to pull it out in the third period. Hats off to them. Now go win the big prize.
It's nice that they finished the trophy winning season with a shutout
They played with jump right off the puck drop last night and took care of business. Panarin 49 goals, 120 point regular season. Let's carry it over into the postseason. I listened to Baba O'Riley on the way into work this morning.
They've been playing every other day since the end of March. A few days to rest up and it's either the Caps, Red Wings or Penguins in round 1.
of all the teams in the playoffs, none, in either conference, scares me as much as Carolina. I am hoping the Isles can pull a miracle out of their ass and beat the Canes.

I think the coaching has been great, and I definitely agree that weathering Shestys funk was impressive (THANK YOU JONATHAN QUICK) -- but I don't think Kane and Tarasenko were even really losses, and despite losing Chytil and KK for a bit, I feel like we had pretty solid injury luck this season.
Right now, I'm happy everyone (except Wheeler) is skating. Getting Chytil would be HUGE -- the depth down the middle with Trochek, Wennberg, Chytil, and Zibby (albeit a poorly scoring Zibby) is extremely strong.
Anything can happen in the playoffs, and the NYR will have PLENTY of their own wood to chop in R1, but removing the Canes from the road would be big.
The NYR could easily lose to the Isles, but I like their chances there more than Carolina. Carolina is an excellent team, and their style of play is a bad matchup for the Rangers. No space, heavy forecheck with a lot of speed, and just 60 minutes of hell.
One thing I did not like last night was the Rangers DZ breakouts, particularly in the first two periods. It wasn't necessarily that the defensemen were bad, but the wingers really struggled handling the puck along the boards with their backs to the blue-line.
Too many weak chips to the opposing defender parked at the top of the zone along the boards. I thought the Senators played really well in that particular regard, but the Rangers are capable of playing more cleanly in that area.
Hopefully we will see an Islander-Ranger series here in a couple of weeks. It is long overdue.
Jints - Looking forward to another spirited tilt with you guys in round 1, hopefully with better results for us this time. If the games start on the weekend I may drive over to Raleigh to catch one.
Hi, Jints, you've been in back of my mind for months. pj disagrees, bec. he thinks you don't have the goaltending, maybe so. But CAR has been my most 'not them', in any early round. Last time we NYR played you, Guentzel basically had nil ice time, first game back from injury.
Guentzel, roughly twice or more points than Roslovic + Wennberg combined. And Pitt still strikes fear here. BOL until we meet again.

I doubt there’s a better place in the NHL to tailgate during the playoffs. The welcome signs have been up around PNC for a couple of weeks. And with so many transplants from all over, it’s generally a great and friendly atmosphere. I
RE: Cross your fingers than Chytil can play in the playoffs
That would be a huge boost. He had a great postseason two years ago, seven goals.
Morning, Greg, have mixed feelings about this. Roslovic has certainly not been a world beater, and the thinking seems to be that Chytil would step in at RW for him. The short gifs we see of Chytil at practice, even w/o the no contact uni, to me he looks tentative and not full bore ready for contact.
head trauma does not often dissipate and disappear permanently. It can, but not often--granted I did give next to 0% chance of returning. But were he to step in RW #1 and go down again, prayers against, that would be a negative that this team does not need.

Everyone is different, Sidney Crosby missed 68 games between 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons due to concussion, came back for 8 games, then missed another 40 and since then he came back and has been ok for years other than occasional incidents like the Trouba hit two playoffs ago.
So Crosby missed almost 120 games (way more than Chytil) over two seasons in his prime and came back fine, but everyone is unique.

If Chytil plays he would take the 3C spot between Cuylle and Kakko. Wennberg becomes the 4C between Vesy and Goodrow knocking Brodzinsky out of the lineup
Obviously, I meant that I hope Chytil can play at the level

Rob, could well be, makes as much or more sense than RW. Roslovic earned himself a reprieve last night (:

no way I'd break up Vesey-Goodrow-Rempe.

Crosby found a chiropractic neurologist that he credits with him helping get back on the ice. Ted Carrick is his name.
