NFT: NBA Play-in Tournament

Stu11 : 4/16/2024 3:13 pm
We start tonight with Lakers-Pels then Sac-GS as the nightcap. Pretty damn good doubleheader for a play-in. A lot of thought out there that Lebron and the Lakers may tank this one because they'd rather be the 8 seed and play OKC as opposed to the 7 and have to play Denver who they've lost 9 straight to, knowing they have a home game waiting vs GS/Sac if they lose. Anthony Davis is questionable as ususal but he has been for just about every game this year and plays most of the time. Will be interesting to see. Sac and GS have developed an interesting rivalry the past few seasons with the playoffs last year and that great game to make the quarters of the in-season tourney this year. Should be a fun watch.

The NBA is so poorly run in certain aspects. This is a joke.

As Stern would say, ideal Finals matchup would be Lakers vs. Lakers.
Reggie Miller, after Zion went coast to coast
shyster : 4/16/2024 8:51 pm : link
"This is a guy six three, six four . . ."

Where did that come from? Zion officially measured at 6'6" when he came into the league, after Duke listed him at 6'7".

And making him shorter wouldn't make his ball handling more impressive, which was the tone of the remark.

It’s absolutely ridiculous how many more free throws they shoot than the opponent. Free throw differential is like +350 this year and +800 that last three years.

Hard to beat a team in the playoffs when they shoot more free throws than you

Shouldn’t be anywhere near a microphone in big games. Yeah let’s miss a FT on purpose and open the door to a game-tying three instead of making it, going up four, and ending the game. Tough call there.

Warriors should consider blowing it up and trading Curry while
Metnut : 4/17/2024 9:20 am : link
he has value. Instead, they'll keep chasing the play-in for the next 3-5 years while Curry and the rest continue to decline.

I understand there's value to having Curry spend his entire career in a GSW uniform, so that's all fine, but there's a price to pay for that. The price to pay for that is 3-5 of irrelevance, followed by a lengthy rebuild afterward.

OKC is the gold standard for a rebuild, but few teams have the vision to pull something like that off.

The money and revenue is only going to last for so long, if they stink and are constantly losing the brand will start to lose its luster regardless of if Curry is on the team..

Maybe they get lucky and Kuminga keeps improving but they have missed on draft picks, Thompson and Green are both done and Thompson wont be on the team next year, their bench is trash and Paul who was probably their best bench piece is gone..

If they have 30 wins next year the money and revenue is not going to be there
But who could trade for Curry
JT039 : 4/17/2024 10:15 am : link
Without gutting the team?

Milwaukee is probably the ideal fit but GS won’t want Lillard. A team like Atlanta? Trading Young and a bunch of picks? The ideal team would be probably the Magic but Paolo is off the table and Wagner, Suggs, and a shit ton of picks won’t be enough either.
I'd imagine if the Warriors were to entertain trading Curry
Strahan91 : 4/17/2024 10:18 am : link
it would only happen if he wanted to go elsewhere and they'd probably let him essentially choose his destination which will soften the return. I actually think it might be more likely that Lebron wins up in GS if/when the Lakers lose in the first round.

The Sixers could make sense to try and make a run with Embiid. They'd have to offer a huge amount of picks and swaps just to get the ball rolling.

Curry would pick the team and it would most likely be a young player, salary filler and drsft picks

I dont agree, his brand is almost bulletproof and his value to GS even in a losing season is immense. Trading him (what can they even get) may not even work out and now you are in a rebuild and have no star power. I don’t really think NBA trades work that well, you basically are collecting future assets and hoping that the incoming class is good. Look how long it’s taken the timberwolves.

I just don’t see it unless he wants out. It’s smart business for both parties to stay as is IMO.

That ownership and Bob Myers etc are highly overrated. They inherited the splash brothers, get credit for Durant but got insanely lucky how that broke down and have completely missed on some very high draft picks.
