in the coming days. The genie is out of the bottle with sports gambling across the leagues. They are in bed with too much money with Draftkings, FanDuel, etc.
Also, wait for the shoe to drop on gambling problems across this country with the younger generation who has had this at their fingertips on their phones for years.
this is happening all across sports in this country undoubtedly.
The Porter family just seems insanely stupid though. MPJ is insufferable to listen to when I see clips of him talking. Clearly his brother is possibly even dumber.
Completely agree it's going to be a huge problem with kids. I was on a flight last month and three teenage brothers we're sitting behind me, probably high school age. They were talking all flight about what bets they were going to place on their phone. Having it on the phone makes it so easy.
I also lost a lot of respect for Eli & Peyton (and other big stars) who promote that stuff.

Agree. Seems like he also gave out confidential info about his health status, someone bet on his personal stats and then he removed himself from the game. That bet apparently was "frozen" and not paid out as it was immediately suspicious. Lifetime ban for sure.
I can only imagine the things we haven't seen or at what lengths the leagues will go to cover up bigger names in the future. You'd have to think that there are plans in place already in anticipation of those situations. You can see in this post there are people that are losing respect for former pros or are witness to what kids are doing with current technology. It's inevitable, IMO, that gambling on your own team or in the same sport will be exposed.
Because it looked “suspicious”. There would be more people betting on Jordan O/U 31.5 than anything but it wouldn’t be worth it.
It’s the borderline pro dudes these days who will make Vegas say “excuse me?”.
Would be shocked if we see a “Pete Rose” where the all-time hits leader or the equivalent in a sport gets involved. Unless they are really really really dumb. Wouldn’t be that shocked by that I guess lol.
This dumbass threw his career away for 21K when he could’ve got millions for sitting on a bench. This is what a drug is, this is an addiction. Hopefully people don’t ruin their lives over it.
Wonder if NBA/NFL teams should demand to see player's phones
The amount of money is going to be mind blowing. And indirectly, it couldbe great for sports - because the younger generation has no interest - but with fantasy sports and now gambling, they watch and talk about it again.
But
When stories like this keep popping up, do people lose faith in the legitimacy of sports? Real fans will absolutely 100% be turned off. But I doubt the gamblers will care, which is crazy.
I don't think there is a person who doesn't expect this to get much, much uglier. And quickly. Elephant in the room.

I imagine a trip oversees is in the future for Porter.

This is also more about player prop bets than wins/losses. I think that's where Porter was doing his shady stuff.

The money Jordan makes with his brand plus what would be the highest salary in the league wouldn’t be worth it.
