Your response hints at another agenda. We get it you prefer to root for Penix (even warts and all you said it would be more fun to root for Penix).. That seems to hint at some other commentary you are making vs whether or not Football people think JJM is the guy.. Plus, that argues against your being happy with the GMEN if they identify the guy they want and go after him. So now that only matters if your guy is the one they want.

The agenda is playing the race card
A trade with AZ only works if the decide MHjr is not a tier
We already knew about the 30 visit and the private workout. Did not know until know about a meeting subsequent to the workout, which could have been a meeting with Mara.
Only agenda is not living through the the last ten years again
The Giants haven't been making their players earn their playing time or their contracts...the QB position in particular has been bequeathed to ownership favorites.
We already knew about the 30 visit and the private workout. Did not know until know about a meeting subsequent to the workout, which could have been a meeting with Mara.
Yep. That's what struck me. I believe I read somewhere that once the interest reaches a certain level, the prospect meets with Mara.
I'm leaning that way as well. But if so, I just hope Schoen has done the homework. Because after this whole process, I kinda' still think he's a glorified Mac Jones. BUT, the experience factor counts, and in the right situation, he could develop into something more.
An NFL team is a business. The Giants want a QB that can handle the laundry list of off-field stuff they do with their QB, too, and represent their franchise the right way.
The fans only care about what happens on Sunday, but it's not that simple. This is a dynamic business with lots of revenue streams. Fans can ignore that or not, but it's the reality of the situation.

That makes sense and the reported interest followed by Schoen supposedly being frustrated with leak then GiantGrit saying we won't take him all makes me wonder.

But it's misguided. Elite QBs may or may not come equipped with whatever nonsense you think is just as important as how well a QB can play. Consider these caveats:
1. We aren't good at predicting who is a good fit for the NY media or face of the franchise.
2. How a QB plays and how the team performs changes the equation. How much does it matter right now that Daniel Jones had those warm and fuzzy qualities? Answer - not a bit because he can't play the position well enough.
3. You are likely to exclude elite talent for perceived "face of the franchise" deficiencies and settle for mediocre talent. You need to obtain elite QB talent wherever you find it, and it won't always be the guy John Mara crushes on.

I never said it's "just as important" - I said you're kidding yourself if you think the rest is bullshit. At that point, you don't know what game you're playing. John Mara (and most other owners) want a QB that represents the franchise the right way. A lot is asked of the QB off the field, especially in NY. Charity work, fund-raisers, corporate events etc. They have many partnerships.
We can sit here and say these things don't matter all we want, but they will always matter here for business reasons. That's NFL football.
I observed yesterday that the Maras have had a type at QB throughout the Giants history. That observation makes Mbavaro sad and angry.
You have inferred about this for months. But don’t worry - you’re far from the only one.
I've inferred it for longer than months. You probably saw me mention it when you still went by dep.
I'll repeat what I said yesterday on this topic:
The Giants have been in existence 99 years. The only games that have not been started by a tall white guy were Geno Smith (1 game after which everyone involved in that decision was fired) and Tyrod Taylor last year because Jones got hurt. 6 games out of 1,404 in 99 years. In none of those 6 games was the starter the anointed franchise QB.
I don't know if the Maras are racist or not but after that big a sample size I'm confident they have a type, and I'm hoping like hell that Drake Maye and JJ McCarthy are good players.
Aren't you the one with the Vikings asshat friend that said Maye is priority one and Penix is fallback, they aren't interested in Maye? Now you have asshat info on NYG? Please fill us in!
Inferring someone as racist is about as low as one can come. Great job.
Like I said, I don't know if they're racists or not. But I'm confident they've got a type. If someone owns only poodles for 99 years and their dog dies...what are you doing to bet the next dog is?
It is what it is. I just hope the next QB is good and actually has to earn his job and money, whomever he is.
Likes him over Maye. And he referenced the other day his interest inJJM is stronger now. Thats good enough for me. And to be honest I want a QB the Giants think is the right one be that Maye, JJM, Nix or whoever .But I ll be excited if it's JJM

So, you lose all credibility when you push the narrative because you don't care about good QB's unless they fit what you want at QB.. Congrats- at least you are transparent..

I’m not disagreeing with you, regarding your observation. I have that observation also. I don’t think you are a racist for that observation. This is coming from a guy who was livid of Chris Carter’s comment when criticizing the Giants for taking Daniel Jones over Dwayne Haskins, and calling it basically a racist act. I hope to goodness that they take the correct QB who develops into a franchise quarterback for the Giants. I hope JJ McCarthy can be that guy or Michael Penix or Drake Maye. Just put a franchise quarterback on the Giants and we will all be happy.
There is no question that for many years the NFL had a racist de facto
ban on black QBs. Very talented black QBs in college were routinely shuttled to other positions.
And there is another conversation above about the Giants also want a QB who will be the *face of the franchise* in addition to having elite traits. So it is clear that many of not all fans see that the Giants do not put talent alone front and center.
Does skin color matter? I don't know. Does shade of the skin color matter? I don't know. Does music preference matter? I don't know. How about clothing choices or social media posts. The fact is John Mara is involved in this decision and many fans ON THIS BOARD have decided players like Caleb Williams and Shadeur Sanders could never be Giants. And Caleb Williams according to most observers has generational talent, but he's not good enough for the Giants. And Shadeur and Deion are not good enough for the Giants. The Giants make these questions legitimate by their own behavior and choices. They have a bar that the QB needs to be *face of the franchise*. Whatever that means. But it is some kind of limit, some kind of bias, by an old school organization, run by an old man, who are out of step with the times.
Aren't you the one with the Vikings asshat friend that said Maye is priority one and Penix is fallback, they aren't interested in Maye? Now you have asshat info on NYG? Please fill us in!
I'm not the viking asshat. I was told from a friend who has a connection with a Giants employee that the Giants will not be taking JJ. This employee is someone who is involved with the draft process. The info I've gotten from him before has been 100% on the money. I was told this 2-3 weeks ago. Maybe something has changed but I seriously doubt it.

I discussed this in the podcast... I am starting to really suspect they are trying to push McCarthy to either (1) cause a WR to drop, or (2) help drive up their own price in a trade down scenario.

Entirely possible if they want to increase the chances of picking between Nabers and Odunze. I think Minnesota trades up for JJ if the Pats take Maye.
It could be even more devious than that. The obvious answer is what you said, push down Nabers.
However, say four QBs going in the top six. Then every other non-QB in the entire draft except one is there at #6. You think teams will be possibly offering the Giants big deals for Alt or Nabers? I can see it. Or what if McCarthy lasts until #6?
"Hey Giants, we know you really want a QB or WR, but what if we give you XXX?"
Interesting that it's the 20 year anniversary of the Eli draft

It's possible McCarthy falls to 6, I just think it's unlikely with the Chargers a logical trading partner to deal with and Minnesota not want to risk the Giants ACTUALLY want McCarthy rather just pumping up his value. In any event it still benefits the Giants who have their pick of the second best non-QB in the draft, and that has value if they decided to trade down. We discussed the trade down scenarios to death already (I'm only trading down if I accumulate 2025 draft capital).
I like JJM more than most, but he'll need to sit for a year to refine his mechanics. He's super talented though, every athletic, strong arm, and a smart player.
I would love if the Giants took him at 6. A trade up for him worries me a bit depending on what they have to give up. He's not a Caleb/Daniels/Maye level prospect in my mind. However, we've now heard that both the Patriots and Giants really like him. I wonder if there is something else going on here.....
There's your new face of the franchise.
McCarthy at 6 or via trade up for no more than 2025 2nd and 3rd.
There's your new face of the franchise.

That seems to hint at some other commentary you are making vs whether or not Football people think JJM is the guy.. Plus, that argues against your being happy with the GMEN if they identify the guy they want and go after him. So now that only matters if your guy is the one they want.

Enough of that.
Yep. That's what struck me. I believe I read somewhere that once the interest reaches a certain level, the prospect meets with Mara.
That's your opinion. Plenty of people think otherwise.

Nice dodge and grossly inaccurate
I say this because numerous times YOU have played the the race card and I’m obviously not the only poster who notices this
But rather than account for the usual BS you spew…..you side step an comically accuse me of having a prior handle
Guess what…..if you didn’t play the race card then I wouldn’t call you out for it
But you do you and continue to spin BS

You know this how? Are you Schoen's gardener?
Terps and a few other posters have insinuated that Mara will not draft a black QB or start one.
I observed yesterday that the Maras have had a type at QB throughout the Giants history. That observation makes Mbavaro sad and angry.

“I don’t know if the Maras are racist or not” but you’ll sure as shit keep implying it!
I'm going to guess, maybe Britt?
.
GiantGrit was told the same, interesting. Thanks!

I discussed this in the podcast... I am starting to really suspect they are trying to push McCarthy to either (1) cause a WR to drop, or (2) help drive up their own price in a trade down scenario.
I would argue this might be the Caro Kann Defense - for fellow chess players - to protect Daniel Stephen Jones, III.
;)

Yeah or BB56, arcarsenal, FMIC. I'm sure they're reborn in dupe form.

Entirely possible if they want to increase the chances of picking between Nabers and Odunze. I think Minnesota trades up for JJ if the Pats take Maye.

Also, gd do you rile people up with minimal (no?) effort lol

It's possible McCarthy falls to 6, I just think it's unlikely with the Chargers a logical trading partner to deal with and Minnesota not want to risk the Giants ACTUALLY want McCarthy rather just pumping up his value. In any event it still benefits the Giants who have their pick of the second best non-QB in the draft, and that has value if they decided to trade down. We discussed the trade down scenarios to death already (I'm only trading down if I accumulate 2025 draft capital).
I would love if the Giants took him at 6. A trade up for him worries me a bit depending on what they have to give up. He's not a Caleb/Daniels/Maye level prospect in my mind. However, we've now heard that both the Patriots and Giants really like him. I wonder if there is something else going on here.....

Because you know better than pro scouts and GMs that have been doing this their whole lives....
